Refreshing for long time Zelda players

Going into this game, I had heard that BotW was a game changer. To be perfectly honest, Zelda was in need of something refreshing because every console Zelda game has followed the exact same structure as Link to the Past. Not that it's a bad game to build a basis off of, but the tried and tried to formula was getting a bit stale. My first Zelda game was AoL and while many don't consider it a good Zelda game, I thought it was great because of what I learned after playing the original, is that it's just you with your sword, shield and your willingness to explore. The more I put into it, the more I got out of it. I get that same sense out of this game that I did out of those original games. There is no hand holding, very little map to look at, it's just you and your willingness to explore. If you are a long time Zelda fan and have not tried this game yet, you should because it will bring back so many memories of those originals that you will lose yourself in it. Highly recommended!

In my opinion, the most satisfying Zelda game to date. Combines all the usual excellent features of Zelda with rpg elements and a massive open world. It's Zelda meets Skyrim meets Fable with a vaguely Dark Souls 3-esque feel at times. Beautifully done, with so much to do, solve, climb, conquer and discover.

I probably have somewhere around 20 or 30 hours in this game, but I have barely scratched the surface of the story. There is so much to explore and experience that it is easy to get lost in your own rabbit hole rather than the story set out for you. Luckily, the game still shines when you're just exploring.

If you have a switch and you don't have Breath of the Wild, you probably don't want your switch. This is the greatest game on that console and will be one of those games you will remember where you were when you started it, finished it, and all the stories you make for yourself in between

This was my introduction to Zelda game and it is awesome! There is so much to explore and you are able to do it at any pace you like. It is incredibly fun and looks great on the both the handheld and the TV. If you own a Nintendo Switch, this is a must-buy! Another contender for Game of the Year!

Very challenging, BUT I absolutely love the fact it puts my mind to work! Getting to explore mountains, oceans, and awesome forests. The adventure is amazing and they did a great job! It's a much more challenge with the fact every weapon breaks, hopefully I can find a weapon that I can keep for longer.

Super fantastic game. It seems really hard in the beginning (you will die a lot) but as you learn the mechanics and get stronger weapons, you'll start to truly enjoy the massive open-world game.

I bought a switch for this game and I'm so glad I did. The open world design gives you hours and hours of fun. I never thought I'd play a Zelda that I'd enjoy as much as A Link to the Past or Ocarina, but this is right there with them.

I finally beat the game after 125+ hours. One of the best games, if not the best, I've played in my life. Great story line, combat, open world that you can explore, all objects to interact, etc. Can recommend this game to anyone, gamers or non-gamers, for a time they will enjoy very much.

Nintendo hasn’t released a new entry into the Zelda franchise since the Wii. Sure they have put out remasters on the WiiU but finally a new game! This game is HUGE! An open world Zelda? Yes please!! A definite must have if you consider yourself a fan of the Zelda franchise.

Enough said. This is the best video game I've ever played. Hyrule is a beautiful place to escape to. The story is interesting and well-delivered. The difficulty level is just right to give you that feeling of accomplishment, unlike most games today that are just too easy. I can't recommend this enough.

A little bit different feeling of open world-ish game that Zelda usually is, but still a great entry. Reminds of Twilight Princess, at least first 5 hrs into. Has some issues with frame rate in certain situations when playing on a big screen. I use pro controller as I could not get used to joy cons.

Firs of all, I have never played a Zelda game in my life. This is tha first time. If you love the characters and what the world of Zelda has giving you, this is by no means a Masterpiece. It has hours and hours of play, and how the game is made is just masterful. However, if you just want a video game to entertain you and to pass a good playtime, Zelda sometimes doesn't give you that. You can spend minutes and minutes without doing almost nothing. The world sometimes feels empty, and also the fact that weapons break, make the fights less enjoyable to be honest. Depends what you are looking for this could be the game of your life or just a sometimes enjoyable experience.

Game was hard, real hard in the beginning but as you get used to it, it gets more fun. There’s so much gameplay time in it that it’s well worth it’s full price tag. Just need to get past the initial hurdles and it gets really fun.

This game was purchased as a gift. I was never a Nintendo-child. I grew up very solidly in the camp of Sega and the blue hedgehog. That said, one of my best friends made sure to introduce me to the Legend of Zelda series in my mid-20s. I was reluctant to jump in at first, but very quickly came to enjoy the simple pleasures to be found in exploring and adventuring within the land of Hyrule. Each game in the series provides a different take on a familiar story, allowing us to experience new and exciting discoveries amongst a backdrop of the familiar. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild takes this familiar formula and opens it up to heights never seen before in this series. Painstakingly hand crafting an open-world adventure, and borrowing many elements from its contemporaries, this title is able to become more than just the sum of its parts. It is a game that is sure to be talked about for years to come and has raised the bar by which future open world adventures will be judged.
