    True to the original

I purchased this game because the original was the first Zelda game I had played, and this held up very well to that. The HD world was fun to explore, and the new challenges added enough to keep the game fresh. If this is the quality we can expect from remakes from Nintendo, I will be purchasing more.

A fresh take on a classic game

If you played the original Game Boy version like I did, it’s literally the same game. It’s not completely unchanged—obviously there are fresh graphics as well as upgrades to things like the fishing game and the Secret Seashell concept. The new dungeon creator feature is cool as a diversion, but I wouldn’t say it adds a ton to the game. For me, this rework of a beloved game was a perfect hit of nostalgia with enough updates to feel like a brand new game even though I already knew every trick and puzzle. Fans of the classic, don’t worry, it feels like the original but with way better controls. If you’ve never played Link’s Awakening in one of its prior forms, it’s an amazing if easy Zelda game. Just remember it started as a Game Boy game and (and at it’s heart still is) and you won’t be disappointed.

    A Faithful Remake and More!

In this beautifully remastered installment of the Legend of Zelda series, you're in the midst of riding out a powerful thunderstorm at sea when your boat crashes. As you awaken, you find yourself on the mysterious Koholint Island. Your task? You must awaken the Wind Fish. Whilst on you quest, you will meet plenty of friendly characters and see more than a few familiar faces - Goombas, Cheep-cheeps, Bloopers, Shy Guys, Boos, a Chain Chomp, Piranha Plants, Buzzy Beetles, Pokeys, Spinys, Wart (the final boss from Super Mario Bros. 2, known as "Mamu" in this game) and Bob-Ombs, to name a few. That's right! We've got MARIO enemies! Of course there are some Zelda staples, too - Hinox, Stalfos, Moblins, Keese, Octorocks, and more. If you own ANY variant of the Nintendo Switch, you SHOULD get this game!

Link's Awakening is the reason I bought the Nintendo Switch. I played this game on the Gameboy, and feel in love with it. As soon as I saw the ads for this game on the Switch, and I knew I had to get the console, and the game doesn't disappoint. It brings me back to the original game, but the improvements are extraordinary. The graphics are very clear and the 3D effects just jump at you. The game runs fluidly, and the gameplay is still as challenging as before. Maybe a little easier because I beat the game before. It does have a "hero" option where hearts are not dropped by enemies, nor can you find them in bushes or by breaking pots. Another improvement from the old game is that you don't need to use the 'A' or 'B' buttons to use certain things like the power bracelet or Pegasus boots. They're automatically added to Link's abilities. The movement and expressions of all the characters are a plus. The game is short, when compared to other Legend of Zelda games, but I still think this is worth it.

A game that needs no further introduction. Bought this on sale for $20 off, worths every penny. Length of game is not long, I spent around 12 hours, if you prefer some games that you spend hundreds of hours on, this might not be for you.

He has played Zelda before and was so excited to get the new game. He sat down and completed all of his homework and did the writing very well, with the understanding that he would get the game if he behaved, he is thrilled, and said it has some challenging tasks to complete.

This is perhaps the zaniest Zelda game in existence (yes, including the Philips CD-I games!) I can only imagine the design process at the time. I feel like examples would spoil the surprise, but there are a lot of cameos in this game that you would not expect. The story is typically light fare, but not what you're expecting out of a Zelda game. While the game is gorgeous to look at (not wholly unlike Animal Crossing, but with a wax/claymation slant,) the frame rate struggles just about the entire time.

This was a fun remake of the original Zelda game on the original Nintendo. I found myself reminiscing some of the zones and quests as I was playing. There are enough new quests and mechanics to add some newness to the storyline. I had a blast playing.

I remember when I was 7 and recieve my first original gameboy it came with this little gem called The Legend of Zelda Link Awakening. The sad part I never really beat it and bum me out being very young had a difficult time play it. So when Nintendo announced an acutal remake for the switch. To be honest, I did not like the look of it that it didn't grab me. But last week, i suddenly change my mind and gave it a go. I was so wrong that I love this cute game and how beautiful this mysterious island really is that Nintendo put a lot love to this classic. Truthfully, I not a big zelda fan but I own it to myself to play this gem again. Link Awakening is the only zelda game I really care about, Goty material, and a timeless classic I glad to have on the switch.

Link's Awakening was one of my favorite gameboy titles and playing the new remake was a great nostalgia trip. Game does have some framerate / slowdowns which is my biggest issue with it though it did not prevent me from playing the game to the end.

This is far and away the best version of Link's Awakening available! The extra button and quality of life improvements makes it far superior to the Gameboy and Color iterations, and it includes all the bonuses found in the Color version! A must play for classic Zelda lovers.

Completely different than any other Zelda game I’ve played. You start off not being able to so much as jump, but it ends up like every other Zelda game where you’re loaded with gear and can travel anywhere with ease. I really hope they remake more Zelda games for the switch.
