Love the game!
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really enjoyed playing this game. It is like a mix of old Zelda with Mario. However , have in mind that is a short easy game and not like Breath of the Wild. But is good for a fun time.

Great remake
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great remake that retains the original charm but has a few quality of life improvements that really elevate it. It is a tad on the short side but that is to be expected of a Gameboy remake.

Good
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never played the original, so this was entirely new to me. However, it seems to struggle on the switch hardware as if it's a port or something. Noticable slowdown, framerates and rendering issues.

A Beautiful Re-imagining of a '90s Classic
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My time spent with The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening for Nintendo Switch has been a great amount of fun. The original on the GameBoy was my first ever Zelda game and what this HD Switch remake offers is what I pictured in my mind as a kid. Taking the nostalgia goggles off, there's nothing too spectacular going on here, it's just a solid "2.5-D" Zelda game with overall crisp gameplay (disregarding minor frame-rate hiccups in high-activity areas), a familiar story, and a compelling art style. If you're a fan of adventure games, you'll enjoy this one!

Link is Back!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While the graphics of this don’t fit your typical Zelda game, the story line is next to none! Not too easy, but not too challenging. Hours of action-packed fun for people of ALL ages!

||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was my first Zelda game I played back in 1994 for my Gameboy, nice to play it back with super nice graphics. The only down side is the price. But I didn't even think it twice to buy it.

Must have game
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my 9 and 11 year old boys. They both love it! It has lots of adventures. You have to complete parts of the map to unlock other areas. They definitely recommend this game.

Amazing Remake!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best way to play Link's Awakening. Even if you don't like the cute art style still pick this game up. If you are even remotely a Zelda fan you will love it.

Fresh coat of paint on a classic game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Link's Awakening is the same game you know and love, with its off-beat story and excellent dungeon design, albeit with a gorgeous new visual style and many quality of life improvements. A better item assignment system with dedicated action buttons is the biggest of these QOL additions, along with a really nice map. These make the experience a lot smoother to play, although the visuals do cause some frame rate hiccups here and there. The revamped fishing pond and other mini-games were also a nice touch. One of the biggest additions I was looking forward to was the Chamber Dungeon feature, which lets you create your own dungeons and play through them. Unfortunately this turned out to be a big let down. The mechanics that let you build the dungeons work fine, but you can't create your own rooms and instead can only choose from sets of prefabricated rooms you unlock as you play through the main game. This really limits what you can do, and many of the rooms are boss/sub-boss rooms, making them a slog to go through and not very fun. Hopefully this was just a testing ground for Nintendo to make a full featured dungeon creator in a future game. Overall still a great game and a wonderful way to replay a classic. Just know that this is a very different kind of game from Breath of the Wild, in case that's been your only Zelda experience to date.

Fun trip down memory lane
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had gotten the original Game Boy title years ago when it came out; it was one of my favorite games of all time. The remake for the Switch system takes the original game and updates the graphics (which are bright and colorful and fun), the music and sound effects (while retaining their original melodies), and modernized the control scheme (so you now no longer have to constantly switch between equipped items that you use all the time, like sword, shield, boots, and power bracelet). My only gripe is that I can't remember where I'm supposed to trade the honeycomb to, but if 12 year old me could figure it out 26 years ago, I should be able to soon enough.

Super Mario meets Legend of Zelda...sort of
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fun game that offers hours of challenges and item collecting. Combat isn't overly challenging, but there are some enemies that need special items to defeat. Don't worry, you collect them as you progress through the game. There's lots of characters from the Super Mario games, some good and some enemies. It's a top down game, but there are some side scrolling sections that are neat to see. I will definitely be doing another playthrough soon.

Great Game!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was going to give this five stars as it is an amazing game, but I have one thing that irritates me. With the older style of game play I sometimes find my self impatient with trying to figure out what in the world I need to be doing. Sometimes it's not as straight forward as I would like. It makes it fun, but I also am busy and wouldn't mind just a small amount of more guidance.

Excellent Remake with the Spirit of the Original
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This remake is phenomenal. It captures the essence of the original game but adds a new artistic flair that looks beautiful on the Switch. The addition of being able to map two items for use while keeping sword and shield as their own dedicated buttons keeps combat smooth and less time in menus. This has been a perfect introduction to Zelda for my kids, as Breath of the Wild is a bit beyond them. The puzzles and straightforward aspect of Link’s Awakening is great for short play, as each dungeon adds a new layer of complexity and freedom. Highly recommend the game, and love the hardcore mode if you are already familiar with the game.
