||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I liked BotW all right, but this by far is my current favorite "kick-back and relax" type of game. Bought BotW Physical and Tears of the Kingdom to go with my new Splatoon 3 Switch OLED!!

A glorified Breath of the Wild DLC
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you’ve played breath of the wild, don’t expect much of an overhaul. Typically Zelda games come with mass innovation, fresh ideas, and the very very least, new worlds. Tears of the Kingdom however opts to place you back in the same world you traversed in breath of the wild, and in a game based on exploration, this is not a very interesting experience. The story is rather lacklustre as well and the sky zone that Nintendo advertised as the main selling point of this game leaves a lot to be desired as it is mainly just a few shrine puzzles and mini-boss fights. As a standalone game in a world where Breath of the Wild didn’t exist, it’s a great game, but if you’ve already played breath of the wild and want a game worth your $70, I’d wait until the next Zelda is released or one of the old Zelda’s is ported to the switch, but this is not the Zelda I remember in which they reuse the same world from the previous installment and don’t even bother to move locations around. Considering that this game took 6 years to create whilst using an already built map, menu section, sounds, items, engine, music etc, and Elden Ring took only 5 years which created an entirely new world, it’s very palpable how much Nintendo dropped the ball here.

A Masterpiece
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it comes to video games, there are great games, and then there are masterpieces. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is firmly in the latter category. It is, without a doubt, one of the greatest video games ever made—a towering achievement in open-world design, creative freedom, and storytelling. This isn't just a sequel; it's a re-imagining of a masterpiece that somehow manages to surpass its legendary predecessor in nearly every way. The game's genius lies in the new abilities granted to Link, which fundamentally change how you interact with the world. The Ultrahand, Fuse, Ascend, and Recall powers are not just simple tools; they are a physics-based toolkit that gives players an unprecedented level of creative freedom. Whether you're building a flying machine to explore the new sky islands, constructing a flamethrowing death bot to take down a monster camp, or simply fusing a rock to your shield to smash through a wall, the game constantly encourages you to think outside the box. This sense of experimentation and discovery is woven into every aspect of the game, making every moment an unforgettable "I did it!" moment. The world of Hyrule has been transformed, with the addition of the vast sky islands above and the ominous Depths below. Exploring this expanded, three-layered world is an awe-inspiring experience, filled with new mysteries, dungeons, and challenges. The story is epic and emotionally resonant, providing a richer narrative that rewards fans of the series. From its breathtaking scale to its meticulously crafted puzzles and systems, Tears of the Kingdom is an adventure that respects the player's intelligence and creativity. It's a game that you will not only play but live in for hundreds of hours, and it's a game that will be talked about as a landmark for years to come.

A Breath of the Wild Evolution
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As an avid gamer and a fan of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, I recently had the opportunity to embark on an even greater adventure with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and let me tell you, it exceeded all expectations. This game is a breathtaking evolution of Breath of the Wild, taking the Nintendo Switch gaming experience to an entirely new level. Like Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom boasts an expansive open world that is simply awe-inspiring. The landscapes are beautifully crafted, offering a perfect blend of lush forests, serene lakes, towering mountains, and mysterious dungeons. Every corner of the map holds secrets waiting to be discovered, and the sense of exploration is unparalleled. The game's narrative is deep, captivating, and emotionally charged. It weaves a compelling tale that keeps players invested from start to finish. The characters are well-developed and relatable, and their interactions add an extra layer of immersion to the already gripping story. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom takes combat to a whole new level. The protagonist's abilities and combat skills are vast and highly customizable. Mastering different weapons, magic, and unique abilities provides a sense of empowerment that makes every battle thrilling and satisfying. Prepare yourself for intricate puzzles and elaborate dungeons that will put your problem-solving skills to the test. The level design is brilliant, and each challenge feels fresh and innovative, keeping you engaged for hours on end. The enemies you encounter are diverse, intelligent, and more challenging than ever. From cunning creatures to powerful bosses, every encounter demands strategic thinking and adaptability, ensuring you never feel complacent in your adventures. Visually, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a masterpiece. The art direction is both enchanting and immersive, with vibrant colors and breathtaking landscapes that make exploring this world an unforgettable experience. The attention to detail is remarkable, and the game runs smoothly on the Nintendo Switch, showcasing the console's capabilities. The game's soundtrack is an auditory delight. The music complements the atmosphere perfectly, from soothing melodies during peaceful moments to epic orchestration during intense battles. The sound effects are spot-on, enhancing the overall gaming experience. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is, without a doubt, a worthy successor to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It captures the essence of its predecessor while offering significant improvements and innovations. The vast open world, engaging storyline, challenging gameplay, and breathtaking visuals make it an unforgettable adventure on the Nintendo Switch. If you enjoyed Breath of the Wild and crave a game that pushes the boundaries further, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an absolute must-play. It redefines what is possible on the Nintendo Switch and sets a new standard for open-world RPGs. Brace yourself for a gaming experience like no other - you won't be disappointed!

Great but also the same as before
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's beautiful and manages to recapture the same feeling of wanderlust that Breath of the Wild did. It adds some new gameplay mechanics, tells a good story, and feels endless to explore. It's slightly overwhelming how much there is to this game. And while the new mechanics are great, it feels like a bigger version of Breath of the Wild instead of a sequel. A bigger version of BOTW isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it's not as big a breath of fresh air as its predecessor.
