The Game That Brought Me to TEARS...

Its been a while since a game actually brought me to literal tears (hehe see what I did there?). I've been a fan of these games since I was a 90s kid and my dad was introducing me to Ocarina of Time on the N64. To say I've grown up with The Legend of Zelda at the forefront of my childhood is a complete understatement, and Tears of the Kingdom felt like an all around ode to the child storytellers and world builders that we are. Yes, this is considered a glorified DLC to many returning players, but if you have as much love and devotion to this story as those like myself, it will still drive you to play through it for countless hours, and even to revisit it well over a year after its release. With the NS2 coming out, I can't think of a better time to purchase this game and live through this experience.

I’ve been playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and it’s been a really fun experience. The game takes what was great about Breath of the Wild and adds a ton of cool new stuff. The map is huge, and I love how there are new areas to explore, especially in the sky and underground. The new abilities, like Ultrahand and Fuse, are awesome. They let you build things and combine items in ways that feel super creative. It’s fun to experiment and see what works, whether it’s making a crazy vehicle or a unique weapon. The story is interesting and has some really cool moments, and the characters are fun to interact with. The puzzles and challenges keep things exciting without being too frustrating. Even though it’s on the Switch, the game looks great, and the music adds a lot to the atmosphere. Overall, it’s just a great game to dive into and explore at your own pace. If you liked Breath of the Wild, you’ll probably enjoy this one too!

Easily spent 300+ hours playing the game. I've been a Zelda fan from a young age, and just like how Breath of the Wild got me really hooked, Tears of the Kingdom totally delivered on being a sequel worth waiting for. Just when you think Nintendo couldn't take the series' story any farther than they did with Breath of the Wild, they exceeded expectations again. Great offering for a Zelda fan. Probably not for everyone though, but a great open world offering from Nintendo.

Tears of the Kingdom is an awesome adventure. The world feels huge the new abilities, resources and tools are fun to experiment with. At some point, maybe mid to late game, it can start to feel a little repetitive, especially if you played BOTW since it reuses the same map, but it’s still a great experience overall. If you’re a Zelda fan, you definitely shouldn’t miss it.

    Phenominal Game, ok Zelda Game

Although this game as a standalone deserves a 5/5, as a Zelda game I can't give it more than 4. Just like with Breath of the Wild, although a technical marvel and a phenominal game, the lack of linearity is dissapointing. However, The Nintendo Switch is pushed to the absolute limits and we should applaud the development team with all the work that got put into this game. The game would be perfect if it had similar dungeons to other 3D Zelda games. This game, along with the majority of open world games, gives the player too much freedom to do what they want. Instead of having a start and end to the game with side quests sprinkled in, you have infinite freedom. For some people this is a great thing, but I find myself getting exhausted when playing. Instead of "I'm going to beat this dungeon today." It's, "time to do another 12 shrines and place objects in front of the president poles." I don't get the same wow factor that Ocarina of Time, or Twighlight Princess provided. When I played those games for the first time, I couldn't put them down. Now, I find myself easily able to put the game down and do something else rather than just exploring. Zelda is my favorite franchise of all time but BoTW and TotK just don't keep me hooked. I have 100% every 3D Zelda game and I will do so with this one as well. The game itself is a great game and I would reccomend it to everyone in a heartbeat, but they don't hold a special place in my heart like the other Zelda games do.

It’s rare for a game as ambitious as this one to launch these days without being a broken mess. This game runs smooth, and the new mechanics bring a refreshing twist on the core gameplay from Breath of the Wild. I am 60 hours in with over 70 shrines completed and feel like i’ve still barely scratched the surface of exploration. So far the story has been so-so and suffers from the non-linear approach you’re allowed to take but the gameplay and exploration more than makes up for that.

Absolutely fantastic game. I was worried that Tears of the Kingdom would just be more Breath of the Wild without anything new or exciting, but I was wrong. It kept everything good about BotW but added an incredible sandbox and a more engaging story. While it still hasn't captured the atmosphere and feel of some of the classics, like Ocarina of Time, it makes up for it in liberating gameplay.

Didnt get it as fast as i would of liked. Could of easuly bought it anywhere else near me and enioyed it for 3-4 days more with how long it took fedex to get me my package. Fedex sucks around here. UPS Is so much better at getting packages to us on time or even early. Fedex just holds the package till the day of its estimated delivery or its delayed. Regardless of the shipping, this game is great. It took everything from botw and tweaked it all, added new concepts, changed the powers for the better, and everything feels a whole lot better fleshed out in this game. I didnt even like botw that much, it was easy, hardly any dungeons, shrines felt kind of lame most of the time, and exploring the world never felt rewarding at all. You just got money, gems, or more weapons. Which you never really needed. On a side note, it didnt help that i dont enjoy games that just dump you in a world with almost zero direction. And tbh, totk does this just like botw. The main difference is how they went about it, they reworked the rewards they meet out in this game and added a lot of new areas abd reworked old areas that really invoke your sense of adventure. And now that you have real treasure you can find, with treasure maps and such, it encoursges you to actually go out and explore. On a different note, and maybe an unpopular opinion, i dont enjoy the crafting so much in this game. I enjoy the basic crafting, but i hardly use any of the zonai tech other than a few things rarely or when required literally for a shrine or a sky island but i think the game is much better without it. But im just not a crafting, mechanical like dude at all. Im sure others really enjoy it and kids probably thinks its mind blowing cool but its not that great imo. I enjoy finding rare fusions materials from bosses and such and enjoy having a collection of strong weapons but crafting is kind of not fun.

Tears of the Kingdom is an amazing experience and easily one of the best Zelda games ever made. The world feels huge and full of possibilities, and the new mechanics make exploring and experimenting incredibly fun. It runs great on the Switch and keeps you hooked for hours. A must-play for any Zelda fan.

How do you review 6 years of anticipation and hype? Not perfect, but the best possible follow-up to breath of the wild. Lots of nuanced controls to get accustomed to. Great fun, and in my case, story cutscenes that take my brain back in time to when I opened my NES Deluxe set. Thae awe and sense of wonder revived. Did it last the entire game for me? No! Though i still appreciate the value and talent it took to create this gem of a video game. Open world gamer? Buy and enjoy.

If you are looking for a graphic upgrade from Breath of the Wild you will be disappointed. If however you are looking for a continuation of an amazing story then look no further. This game is amazing and I have been enjoying playing it. It has new mechanics that keep it interesting for hours and hours. The story was a solid 9/10. The gameplay an 8/10. Graphics a 7/10. This is not to say that this game is not in my top 10 of 2023.

Excellent game blending elements of the immersive sim games of decades past to create a wildly addictive open sandbox full to the brim with content! Takes the bones of Breath of the Wild and corrects many of that game's flaws to create a truly wonderful experience. Nintendo finally created a game similar to the very first Legend of Zelda in that its all about exploration and learning about the world as you go with little guidance (see interviews with Sakurai).

I absolutely loved playing breath of the wild when it first came out but when i first started up tears of the kingdom i knew this game was so much more than breath of the wild ever was, the game mechanics and the world is just gorgeous even though it is on now old hardware but after playing through and beating everything to do in this game i will say without a doubt this is the best game on the Nintendo switch and personally is my game of the year

Tears of the Kingdom is by far the biggest, boldest and most epic Zelda game to date. It's easily twice as large as Breath of the Wild, with a more engrossing story and inventive game mechanics. Being able to construct nearly anything makes the game very replayable, and there's so much to explore that you'll never get tired of traversing Hyrule. If you own a Switch, Tears of the Zelda should definitely be in your library.

After BOTW, I was fully expecting that TOTK would be somewhat of a repeat or even a bit of a letdown. However, this game has far exceeded my expectations! It is reminiscent of BOTW in an endearing way but fresh at the same time. The story is impactful and the missions are seemingly endless. If you've ever wanted to get into a game where you were directed by your choice and not just the expectations of the game designer, then this is the game for you.
