**Spoiler Free** As a long time Zelda player and a huge fan of Breath of the Wild, I was so excited to play this sequel. While it is not necessary to play to play Breath of the Wild first, the game and story are much more understood if you do. The game also is difficult for a Zelda game and builds on the knowledge of mechanics from playing the Breath of the Wild. Despite reusing the same world, this game is so much larger, and often times unrecognizable to its predecessor. The new gameplay mechanics of fusing weapons and vehicles takes the open world sandbox experience and brings a creative playground that is a blast to just explore and have fun. The story, although taking a backseat to the gameplay, is more prominent than in Breath of the Wild and gives Zelda fans a lot to be excited to see. While being a fantastic addition to the Zelda franchise, it is very much based on Breath of the Wild, and if you didn’t enjoy that game, likely this sequel is not for you. The massive size of the game absolutely has s more than enough for the price and is even daunting to approach, with hundreds of hours of potential play. Any fans of exploration without handholding or a creative open world sandbox, you will love this game!

What a game, I swear I’ve sunk well over 100 hours into the game and still haven’t come close to experiencing all of the available content. It really has come a long way since majora’s mask and oracle of seasons I played as a kid in the 90’s. Probably kne of the biggest reasons why anyone buys a Nintendo Switch these days. A MUST HAVE!

This game is fun and a great continuation from Breath of the Wild. You have the familiarity of the map, but it's still new and different. They have some a great job continuing the story and adding new elements to fixing and protecting Hyrule. Playing Breath of the Wild is recommended but you truly don't need to know the last game to play this one.

Great game mechanically, story imo is a little weaker than Breath of the Wild but game play is more refined. Will probably pick it up again when the switches successor finally comes out as the switch has been underpowered since it was released. Either that or just run an emulator in my pc, its not against the law if you own the software.

Where to even begin? It expands on Breath of the Wild in every way but is its own story enough that you don't need to play through BOTW to enjoy and feel fulfilled by Tears of the Kingdom. It is much, much bigger and complex, but if it's something you plan to play for a while, the controls will feel fluid. Still amazed it all runs on a Switch.

This game has proven to be quite a well thought out game and sequel to Breath of the Wild (which was an excellent change to the Zelda series). The overall game seems to be around 3x larger than the original, full of great stories and Zelda lore, and new game play mechanics to truly bring a new level of game play. Without giving any spoilers, I will say this game is probably one of the best games I’ve ever played and each hour I put into it seems to uncover more and more surprises than I would have ever expected. To be a Zelda fan, and not play this game is a sin. To be a true “master piece gamer” and not give this game a chance is down right neglectful. I enjoy a wide variety of different games and this one has really made me appreciate the 4+ years of development put into it and make it the true piece of playful art that it is. Pick it up and enjoy it. You will have so many hours into it that you won’t even realize a month has gone by and you are still no where near finished with it. Replay ability is also high on it as there are many different ways one can go through each of the story lines and challenges. Kudos to everyone involved in bringing this game to life. Worth the $70 and then some.

So far the game has a captivating yet typical Zelda story, with some welcomed game features that enhance the experience away from Breath of the Wild, while still retaining the beauty and elegance BoTW created. This game is no match for BoTW in terms of impact (similar to Ocarina of Time), but, like Majora’s Mask it successfully sequels the game.

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend who loves Zelda. While I am not much of a gamer myself, I do love watching him play. This new game is definitely worth it - the puzzles and adventure parts are awesome, the graphics are great and the story is cool. We're really looking forward to getting through the game!! Oh and he loves the game too lol!

What can be said about any Zelda game, that hasn’t already been sung it’s many praises?! Always fun! Excellent graphics. What a story.

After finishing 'Breath of the Wild' I was completely blown away by the scope and sheer excellence of Nintendo's masterpiece, but couldn't help but wonder how they would follow up a game widely considered one of the best games ever made, regardless of platform. Then 'Tears of the Kingdom' was announced and I was simultaneously thrilled, optimistic, and cautious. What could Nintendo do, how would they create, something that could in any way compare to 'Breath of the Wild'? Well...they did something that most game developers only dream of and followed up with yet ANOTHER masterpiece, a perfect example of video-game-as-art. I am probably 1/2 way done (a conservative estimate) and will be playing for months, and talking about for years. I could go on and on about how great 'Tears of joy the Kingdom' is, how it exceeds the greatness of its predecessor...but the most important thing I could tell anyone is to play it. It. Is. STAGGERING in it's scope and breadth. Arguably the one game I would recommend above any other. To say I 'highly recommend it' is a gross understatement. This is greatness in execution and a masterclass in game development and art. Unbelievable.

TOTK has kept the landscape geography and basic story elements from BOTW, but changed most other things. Weapons still break but you find many more replacements and you can enhance them. You get new skill abilities early in the game and they figure significantly in gameplay from then on. TOTK has 3 topographical areas (sky, land, and underground) to explore which almost triples the size over BOTW. There are many new puzzle and challenge types to solve using the new tools and abilities. You imagination is tested much more in TOTK. The only negative to report is that if you quickly jump to and through selection menus, the game occasionally hangs up. It is easy to free up without losing your progress, but can be annoying. That is why the score is 4 instead of 5.

I am a life long Zelda fan. BOTW was a fantastic game, and a unique entry into the series. TOTK builds upon BOTW and adds more interesting content, exploration, enemies, and game mechanics. I have played for 200 hours so far and there is some much that I haven't explored yet. TOTK is a must play for any fan of the series or genre.

Breath of the wild was one of the few games I would replay multiple times. Tears of the Kingdom already has me stuck to the screen playing and forgetting the time. It will surely be just a replayable. I have been playing since it has come out, 2-4 hours a day, and still haven't even gotten to the first dungeon. There is so much to do!

Honestly never seen a sequel to the dozens of Zelda but this one out does it. They brought all the things we wanted to a game. Building your own car to figuring out new puzzles. The graphics are great and the story is very immersive.

This game exceeded my already high expectations. It's an improvement of Breath of the Wild in every possible way. The story is fantastic, the world is massive, and every little thing you do is always fun. I finished with 200 hours of total playtime and there wasn't a single moment of those 200 hours that I wasn't having a blast!

Easily one of the best games on Switch. It's notably better than 2017's Breath of the Wild and a must own. Performance is good, graphics are good, tons of content, gameplay is solid, and the new mechanics are mind blowingly stable without the tons of bugs you may expect from such a complicated system. This one is hard to top.
