    Perfecting BOTW’s formula

By now everybody knows just how good 2017’s breath of the wild was, but Tears of the Kingdom makes Nintendo’s open-world masterpiece feel completely obsolete. Links powers feel more cohesive, the open world is familiar but has been changed in meaningful ways, and Nintendo’s creative solutions to complaints about BOTW has created the perfect gaming experience.

As far as the game is concerned: if you liked Breath of the Wild then you will like t Tears of the Kingdom. This game had some big shoes to fill and I think it fulfilled all of my wants from a sequel. There is even more to explore and the story is even better. My Best Buy location also did an excellent job at facilitating all of the pre-orders thay came in for this game and we're incredibly well organized.

I'll start by saying I was not the biggest fan of BOTW since I really enjoy the more streamlined zelda experiences (Twilight Princess is my favorite). This game is MASSIVE and honestly a bit overwhelming, but I find the exploration much more engaging than BOTW. I also appreciate the darker tone. This game also looks excellent on the oled. Honestly kind of mind blowing theh got this game to work on switch.

An amazing story, but otherwise a minor step back.

After The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild broke the 3D Zelda franchise with its open-world gameplay, I was looking forward to the sequel, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. While I wanted more of the same things Breath of the Wild offered, there were weaknesses in that entry that I hoped Nintendo would fix in this follow-up title. I may be in the minority here—much in the same way that I don’t care as much for Majora’s Mask over Ocarina of Time—but I actually liked Breath of the Wild more than this game. Let’s start off with what was great: the story. I felt the flashbacks in Breath of the Wild left some amount to be desired, but the story uncovered during Tears of the Kingdom was leagues better and made for a much more satisfying boss battle with Ganondorf. A lot of the “same” things, like glider exploration and combat, made this game fun to play, so at least there were a few more enemy types to fight and items to collect. At some point, I stopped playing this game and almost had to force myself to get back into it. This was mostly because the main “building” mechanic didn’t vibe with me. Every weapon needed to be prepared ahead of time. Every tool needed to be constructed. These things took time and stalled the action. Even though there was more than twice the map size to explore, a lot more of it felt empty. And when I found a key location, it was locked behind the story I hadn’t discovered yet. Overall, I think the story did a lot of heavy lifting here, but Tears of the Kingdom felt like a minor downgrade to Breath of the Wild. An amazing story, but otherwise a minor step back from Breath of the Wild, I give The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 4.0 stars out of 5.

I'm completely blown away by this game. I thought this would be the same as Breath of The Wild, but they completely redesigned everything and added not one, but two additional layers. It's still annoying keeping weapons from breaking so often. Some of the landscapes are still a bit barren and empty in some areas. Overall the game is fun and very in depth with lots of hours of game play.

If you own a switch this is what you’ve been waiting for. Yes compared to the other consoles the hardware is dated but Nintendo works it’s magic with a certain level of creativity you just won’t find elsewhere. You are given the tools you need at the beginning of the game but you will find new ways to use them throughout your journey. Just amazing the countless ways you can do things in this game.

Sure, I can provide a general review of the "Legend of Zelda" series. The "Legend of Zelda" is a classic video game franchise that has been around since 1986. It's known for its adventure, exploration, and puzzle-solving gameplay, as well as its memorable characters and iconic music. One of the strengths of the series is its ability to create immersive and expansive worlds for players to explore. Each game features a unique setting with its own mythology, history, and inhabitants. Players are often given a sense of freedom to explore this world at their own pace, discovering secrets and uncovering new areas to explore. Another hallmark of the series is its puzzle-solving mechanics. The games often require players to use their critical thinking skills to solve puzzles and overcome obstacles. These puzzles can range from simple to complex, and often require players to use various tools and abilities to progress. The "Legend of Zelda" series is also known for its memorable characters, such as Link, Zelda, and Ganon. These characters have become iconic in the gaming world, and their stories and relationships have been explored in various ways throughout the series. Overall, the "Legend of Zelda" is a beloved and enduring franchise that has stood the test of time. Its combination of adventure, exploration, and puzzle-solving gameplay, along with its memorable characters and expansive worlds, make it a must-play for any fan of action-adventure games.

I think it's the perfect sequel to Breath of the Wild. It's everything that game was and more. TotK expands so much on what made the first game so incredible. It added new areas to explore, new enemies to fight, and basically infinite possibilities with the new fuse and ultrahand abilities. It has actual dungeons this time and not whatever the divine beasts were. 10/10, definitely pick this one up.

TLDR: Game is great! It build upon the great game of BOTW and added so much more. Game runs ok in handheld mode but better when docked. It’s unfortunate that the graphics can’t add to the gameplay experience. 720p @ 30fps is kinda liking for a game like this. However, the gameplay is fun and engaging and the story is pretty decent. If you loved BOTW then you will definitely love this game too.

Amazing game with wonderful building mechanics! I have heard people say the story is lacking but for me the story seems great as well especially if you know anything about the previous Zelda games! 100% buy the game it’s actually worth the price and will give you hours of fun and has better shrines than breath of the wild in my opinion! Better than breath of the wild for me personally!

What an epic amazing game! After 75 hours I finally completed The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. When I first started playing it I thought it had a really steep learning curve. But I put in 10 or so hours then just kept getting stuck and had to take breaks throughout it in the beginning. You can’t really just go and start playing the main game without beating a bunch of shrines, finding armor, and cooking and selling items to get rupees. But once I finally got to start the temples I quickly fell in love. So cool to play through the temples, meet the sages and having them join you in battle is really cool. Truly felt like Ocarina of time to me. Besides some of the challenges of getting started in the game was the perfect difficulty. The graphics are pretty standard, and the music was really good but not as good as Ocarina of time. I’m really glad I was able to get into this game since I wasn’t a huge fan of breath of the wild. The game is enormous too. There is so much you can do and I feel like I barely scratched the surface. I think in this day and age - this is probably my favorite Zelda game. But I don’t think anything will beat that feeling of when I played Ocarina of Time when I was in elementary school and being blown away by it. Probably my favorite game of the year so far. 9.4/10

Fantastic open-world game with endless possibilities. The only problem is there are not enough hours in the day to play this game enough. Tears of the Kingdom has done the impossible and made one of the greatest games ever created (Breath of the Wild) advanced by leaps and bounds in every aspect of the gameplay experience. This is a living world worth getting lost in for hours upon hours.

This game has to be one of the best Zelda games yet! There is so much to do and is exciting from beginning till end. The new abilities added really make this game stand out from other games. Also the game literally has like 3 different maps. They are Land, Underground, and sky. You will definitely get your money’s worth with this title. Took me a month to finish.

BRILLIANT! I decided to preorder this game due to the special place the first game holds in my heart. I was a little worried that it would fail to meet my expectations but it has surpassed them. This review will not have any story spoilers as I have not progressed in the main story very much but have 30+ hours in just sheer exploration alone. The sheer scope of the game is not even the most impressive part (which is very impressive). My favorite portion of the gameplay is the amount of possibilities when it comes to encountering puzzles and enemies. For example, something i noticed is that the shrines are a lot more open ended and contain a larger area than the first game. The game hands you a few materials and says good luck. There are more obvious ways to solve a puzzle but you can do what you want and the game rewards creativity. One con some people may have is with how open ended it is. The game sometimes feels directionless and overwhelming as to where to go and what to do besides the main story's hints on where to go. If you would prefer the game be more linear than this one may not be for you. I have gotten by by following the story markers and setting indivual goals to get around. There is so much more I could get into but this review is getting long enough. Gameplay wise, this game is a masterpiece in my eyes. I highly recommend a purchase if you are into games that reward creativity.

I love the Legend of Zelda series. There has not been a game from the series that I did not enjoy. Tears of the Kingdom is no different. The gameplay is great. The story is unique, and fun to unravel the mystery. There is so much to do in the game which allows people to play the game how they wish. It also makes each playthrough unique giving the game great replay ability.

Fantastic game. Im not a heavy game player, mostly a mario family games every few weeks. After playing the Breath of the Wild, i knew i wanted to get this game. The $70 price is a little high, but worth every penny. All of the added maps add so much game play it almost feels like multiple games in 1. I would highly recommend. My favorite switch game closely followed by Breath of the wild.

A game that had a hard act to follow in Breath of the Wild and it passes it with ease. A true testament to gaming when a game can out do the original. TOTK has so much to offer with exploration, side quests, and one of the most beautiful soundtracks I have ever experienced. 10 out of 10 and a must play to those who love RPG's.

After 2017’s Zelda Breath of the Wild, I didn’t think much extra for its sequel Tears of the Kingdom. After roughly 100+ hours in, this game is overflowing with content. The new gameplay mechanics are jarring at first, u will be fusing, gliding, parrying, rewinding like a pro in little time. There’s a building mechanic in this game that will cater to Minecrafters too. Must buy!

Alot of ground to cover with tons of missions and side missions to accomplish. It has Sky Islands, ground level, underground level, caves and shrines. New abilities, make unique contraptions, lots of weapons and outfits. The story is great, and enjoyable. Maybe too much for young crowds or too much for someone who wants a quick game to beat. My son and I like this game alot tho.
