Great album from beginning to end. Diehard Chevelle fan for years. This CD is a bit heavier than other recent albums from them.

Heavy and intense version of Chevelle

Chevelle has always had a knack for putting out accessible hard rock, and while this album is still accessible to a fan like myself, it may be a bit more than some hard rock listeners would prefer. Other albums, such as "Vena Sera", featured a relative crispness to the instrumentation and vocals. This particular album is jam-packed with heavy, unrelenting, and downright "dirty" guitars/bass along with familiar driving percussion. Lead vocalist Pete leans heavily on screaming vocals on this album, so it you're looking for a great deal of melody, this will not be your best bet. There are occasional lulls in the audio onslaught, but in general Chevelle sticks to the heavy theme. In particular, I highly recommend the single, "Rivers," for its unique latin-build to a heavy middle and end that will have your stereo blasting.

Bringing the intensity up a few notches

At this point, it's safe to call Chevelle grizzled veterans of hard rock. They've been plugging away for over 15 years, cranking out reliably aggressive but still accessible rock that has its influences, but still sounds uniquely Chevelle. Now on their 8th album, we get some of the most noisiest and aggressive music we've heard from the band in some time: a direction hinted at on their last release, La Gargola, but fully implemented here. A band like this could phone it in for an excuse to tour at this stage in their career, but they are still offering surprises and showing they're definitely not ready to go out on the nostalgia circuit any time soon. Highly recommended if you like anything the band has done, particularly the first few albums.

    Classic Crushing Chevelle

I have been a fan of Chevelle for a long time. They remind me of Tool, but with a more concise, direct approach to their songs. They have a very distinctive sound that is equal parts heavy and melodic. The North Corridor is no different from previous releases in that regard, but to my ears this album sounds better than the past three or four. I don't know if it is the songs, the production or both. This album is crushing! If you are a fan of really heavy, but still melodic music, this disc is for you.

Chevelle is pretty consistent with the music they put out but to me, the past two CDs have been lacking a bit. Not this one. The north corridor comes out swinging with door to door cannibals and doesn't let up for the rest of the album. Punchline is the one departure from their normal style on here and it is one of my favorites. Has a NIN vibe to me. Bottom line: if you're a fan of chevelle, you know what you're gonna get but this is their strongest effort since vena sera and wonder what's next it. Get it.

Funny that I never considered myself a Chevelle fan yet I always buy their stuff. I saw this on sale and couldn't resist. Typical solid Chevelle effort though a bit heavier than previous tunes. I'm still in evaluation phase. It wasn't necessarily love at first listen but it is growing on me. I'm sure true fans will enjoy it immediately. I am getting there; hence 4 stars. I've heard these boys are great live, too.

I definitely like this album, it's just not my favorite is my only knock on it. The context is that for me it didn't outdo their classic albums like "Wonder What's Next" or "This Type of Thinking..."; "La Gargola" was an amazing album after the dull "Hats Off to the Bull". So, "North Corridor" is not dull like I classify "...Bull" to be, but it's still not the old favorites or as good as "Gargola".

Im surprised because as I get older, my music taste gets heavier, but I found I can still pop in an old Chevelle cd, and its still great! The latest album is no exception. There are tracks that are catchy, rockin it, and a beautiful, dreamy one that takes me to a level of calm. Another solid album all the way through. If u are an old fan of theirs, u wont be disappointed in this one.

I have had the pleasure of listening to Chevelle since "The Red" on MTV-- back when they played music-- and have been an avid fan since. I cannot emphasize how great the album is! Initially, I thought Gargola would be the point where Chevelle lost creativity, but they have have altered their sound enough to keep the songs and sound fresh. I love it!

As a huge fan of Chevelle, I was really looking forward to this album. Absolutely loved La Gargola and I expected something similar but this album seems way heavier. A lot more screaming. Still has the Chevelle sound, just more raw - that's not a bad thing. Really enjoy this album and can definitely recommend it.

    The North Corridor

Sort of a continuation from the last two as they've once again worked with Joe Barasi (Tool, Monster Magnet, Soundgarden, Volbeat, Slipknot), Chevelle goes in an even heavier direction here. While this was expected, it's so far yielded a mixed reaction from listeners. Whether this is a trip for you, you decide.

This 3 peice trio still has it. And the starting track kicks you right in the teeth but still manages to remain to be so emotive, mysterious and spellbinding. The rest of the album is good, but none of it seems to hold up to the first track. Still a really good listen though.

When I heard the first song, I thought it was someone else. I bought it for that. I've liked Chevelle, but had not bought their music before. May have to go back and rethink that. Glad good bands are still working on good rock music. Most of today's stuff is disappointing.

As a big Chevelle fan I always get their new releases. This one has some memorable tunes such as the single "joyride" but for the first time I found myself not being very drawn to filler material. Still worth a purchase if you are a big fan.

After a few listenings, the album makes sense. The albums harder edge becomes a tool for conveying the message. It's raw sounding. The looser bass works great in adding a fist to the face power groove. The album gets better with every turn.

Okay but for real, I sure do love Chevelle so I would say I am a little biased. However, this album is pretty good! I'm not great at describing things but I will say it's definitely worth checking out. GO. RIGHT NOW. BUY IT, DOWNLOAD IT. FEEL THE ROCK!

This is a good album, but I wouldn't call it their best. I liked "This Type of Thinking Could Do Us In" and "Vena Sera" the best, but this is still a good one to get if you want to stay caught up with what they are releasing.
