didn't even know of the existence of this album until i was looking through the cd racks one day. Very pleased with the return to the sound of "Leftoverture", which this new version of the band was celebrating at the time of this release with a 40 year anniversary tour. Well worth every penny!

It's been a LONG time since I heard anything from one of my favorire bands of the 70's - Kansas. Well, they will never be the same without Steve Walsh and Kerry Livgren, but "The Voyage Of Eight Eighteen" (with Ronnie Platt) on vocals) sure brings back the feeling of the band's extended classics. It even reminds me of the wonderful "Magnum Opus" from the immortal "Leftoverture." Even the instumental "Section 60" sounds more inspired than this group has sounded in years! I just happened to find this c.d. while browsing through Best Buy one day and I'm very glad I did. The Compact Disc may be on the way out, but thank goodness "Kansas" (the Band) is still very much "IN!" They don't need to see "The Wizard Of Oz" - they are still a very talented, excellent group.

    First Kansas Album in Years

Progressive Rock Band Kansas has released their first studio album in a number of years. The style of the songs is classic Kansas, and although there aren't really many songs on here that would be a hit in today's market, fans of the band will probably enjoy what The Prelude Implicit CD has to offer. One song that is a bit of a surprise is the band's version of of the folk song "Home On The Range." It's not a joke or parody. Kansas has recorded their version of the traditional tune and made it their own. Odds are this is probably a farewell album from the band, which is a shame. And though it doesn't have a "Carry On Wayward Son" or "Dust in the Wind" to propel it, the new album is definitely worth owning for any fans of the band or prog rock.

This is a great album, from an amazing band. It did take me a few listens to fully appreciate the new music, but it usually does with me on a new album. The songs have such meaning, beautiful melodies, and amazing musicians. The new lead singer has a wonderful, clear voice, that just blends in beautifully with this classic band. Give this album a listen. I don't think you'll be disappointed, especially if you're a Kansas fan to begin with. Carry On!

While afraid of what the band would sound like with only 2 remaining original members, i must say i was happily proven wrong. Ronnie Platt is an incredible vocalist and fits seamlessly into the band as do the other new members. And it is not studio production trickery. This was also the BEST KANSAS concert i have ever been to and I have been going to all local concerts since 1985. I hope there is more to come!!!

I was shocked to see they are still around after 40+ years, followed them since their 1st LP, great band. This new CD is not as good as their 1st 5 or 6 albums but still has that classic Kansas sound, thumbs up to them, if you loved Kansas back then, then you should add this to your collection! I bought this only because I'm a longtime Kansas fan and like to buy new music from longtime groups to support them, hoping they will continue. I was very pleasantly surprised by how good this disk is. The guys can still play. Reminded me of their pre-Wayward Son stuff. Thought the singer was good too.

First new Kansas studio album in over 10 years is surprisingly good. Only the drummer and guitar player remain from the original band. Yet the music is as Kansan as ever. Complicated rhythms, progressive rock with classical overtones, the playing is top notch and the new singer is good and does not oversing. I recommend this as unique in todays music scene.

Kansas has been a favorite of mine for a long time. Although they have changed players in recent years they still retain their signature sound and vision. Anyone who has any of their older material will like this as it has the same quality of songs as on Leftoverture and Point of Know Return. Carry on

Strange that Kansas had to replace one member with three (a tribute to Steve Walsh), but a seamless transition thanks to Ronnie Platt's Walsh-like vocals. The album itself is extraordinary and fosters hope that the best is yet to come.

Surprisingly good Kansas album. Considering the many changes of personnel it still sounds like classic Kansas. There are lots of nods to very early Kansas and the newest vocalist is excellent. As always, the drumming is incredible.

Kansas did not disappoint. The album is very syncopated with great guitar and bass riffs. The drums fit beautifullly with the instruments. The vocals and lyrics are exceptional. Can't wait to see them live in concert!

I love the new CD. Just like old times, except not enough electric guitar solos & keyboards. I miss the originals, but I love the new members. It was great to go buy a new Kansas CD. There's only one song I didn't like. Kansas fans. Go out and buy one.

Great album if you are a fan of early Kansas. The bonus tracks are very good as well. New singer sounds great and with more musicians in the band they have a really full sound.

THE SONGS ARE IN THE KANSAS TRADITION. RONNIE PLATT EVEN SOUNDS LIKE STEVE WALSH ON A FEW SONGS. THE HARMONY BETWEEN THE GUITAR AND VIOLIN REMIND ME OF OLD KANSAS SONGS. I'VE REALLY ENJOYED LISTENING TO IT.

Still sounds like KANSAS and that's a good thing.....The violin still rocks and their version of "Home On The Range" is the best rendition of this song I've ever heard.
