I won't claim to be an expert on Il Divo. I had not heard of them before getting this CD, but I'm glad to make their acquaintance. I'd describe them as somewhat of a cross between opera (think Pavarotti) and Josh Groban. The album contains songs you'll recognize (Amazing Grace, Adagio), and some that you won't, but they're all by turns soothing, stirring, and easy to listen to. I wondered about the Abba song on the album (The Winner Takes it All), but when I mentioned to my 9- and 11-year olds that a "Mamma Mia" song was playing, they said they didn't even recognize it. It just works. All songs are sung in Italian or Spanish, except for Amazing Grace. This is nice, because it allowed me to just drink in the beauty of the music without trying to concentrate on the words. Give "The Promise" a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

When I received this CD, I was unaware that the songs were just about all in Spanish except for Amazing Grace. Even though I could not understand the words, the music and singing was enjoyable and great. Nice looking group with emotional voices. May not understood what they were saying but felt it. A wonderful gift for those who love this group.

You have not heard such a rendition of Amazing Grace. It is worth the cost of the CD. These individuals make listening to opera a joy regardless of whether you have been a fan. I encourage everyone to buy this album and judge it for themselves. It is something you will put in while doing something else, but it will force you to sit and listen.

Another really good CD from Il Divo! Their voices always amaze me and I listen to them over and over again. Although I wish the song selection would have been a little better, I still enjoyed this CD...Amazing Grace, The Winner Takes it All, Angelina, etc. are wonderful. I think everyone who gets this will enjoy it.

This CD is just what I needed. I am a stay at home mom to 2 busy little boys and by the end of the day, I need my mommy time. So, I grab my bath salts, scented candles and Il Divo The Promise CD and I take a long, much needed bath. The music is so soft and soothing, helping to calm my nerves and relax easier.

The best way I can describe the sound of Il Divo is soaring passion. These four beautiful operatic voices blend to create powerful music and graceful elegance. "Angelina", "Adagio", they all create a relaxing, rich ambience which surrounds you and takes you in, a break from a world which can be chaotic. The real test for me was the cover of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. There is a wonderful rendition by Jeff Buckley and my favorite version is Leonard's, but, Il Divo managed to wow me with a soft and gorgeous rendition. I love the beauty of Italian and Spanish so that is a plus for me. This is the type of cd I want to just get lost in and allow it to inspire and enrich my soul and my heart. Bravo, Il Divo!

I loved hallelujah and amazing grace of which I could listen to over and over again. I really like how they sound together as they gel in each song they sing. I am glad I had the opportunity to rate this album as it is fresh and beautiful ! I will share this music with my friends and family.

This CD is so filled with emotion, it's just breathtaking. Promise really does fill your heart with such emotion. It's a wonderful addition to all the CD's IL Divo has created. This CD doesn't have many upbeat songs on it, but the power of the emotion is what grabs you right from the start. Several of the tracks just ooze with romance and love. It's a pure liquid gold, fantastic from begining to end. My favorite track is - Hallelujah. When their voices blend and mingle with each other on this song, your heart just swells and is completely filled with LOVE. Their voices are gifts and they share them with the world on this CD. This CD is a cut above the rest.

IL Divo sings thier songs so beautifully it almost makes me cry! I love songs in different languages and I love this CD. There are 11 tracks on The Promise CD. All these songs are great and they are really nice songs to help unwind and relax. They literally take my stress away! The lyrics are beautiful and this CD is the best easy listening music to hear and very uplifting! You should check it out!

I just received my Il Divo album The Promise and I am very happy with it. It is compiled of fresh, new music that will be sure to please any Il Divo fan. I love the range of their voices and this was a pleasant treat! It doesn't sound like their typical albums which is a nice change, so many singers put out a ton of songs that all sound alike. In addition to their vocals, they have some great background music. You can FEEL the music, not just hear it. If you are a fan of II Divo, like me, I think you will be very pleased! I especially like the Adagio, Enamorado, Angelina, and my favorite on the CD is Amazing Grace!!

Il Divo's style of music isn't what I typically listen to, but I was happy to give it a try. Overall, I'd have to say this CD was mediocre. Some songs were nice and deserve to be heard (Hallelujah, Angelina, The winner takes it all), however, other songs were a bit too slow for my liking or didn't seem like anything overly special. Particularly, I felt like the renditions of Adagio and Amazing Grace could have been better done, but I did really love Hallelujah. I've listened to this track many times already. To sum it up, other than certain tracks, this probably isn't a CD that I would listen to over and over, but it makes for enjoyable background music while working.

I had heard of Il Divo before and seen them on television, but really had no idea what to expect when I got this cd. I like classical music, but opera isn't typically "my thing." Boy was I surprised at this cd! The music is really powerful and Il Divo's adaptations of the songs are quite wondeful. My 7.5 yr old daughter even enjoyed listening to it. While classical opera fans may have an issues with the moderness of this cd, I'd highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't given opera a chance before, as well as anyone who would enjoy hearing the rich voices of this quartet.

If you want to escape the stresses of your day, then I recommend The Promise by IL DIVO. It combines opera like lyrics with pop and is very easy on the ears. This group's style is quite comparable to that of Josh Grobin. Their version of Amazing Grace will literally bring you to tears it is so beautiful! This is one of those albums that you want to listen to on your way to work and on your way home from work to unwind. I think it would also set the mood for a very romantic date or just as a way to relax with a nice warm bubble bath!

There's no denying that these men have beautiful voices. This CD is entertaining because all of the melodies are familiar, but their twist makes them fresh. Track 8 is the best! It completely grabs me every time.

I thought it was beautiful. I actually thought the CD was better than their Regis appearance but I do wish more than one song would have been in English. However, It is inspiring an an amazing listen.

I thought it was a great cd the best part was when they sang amazing grace it gave me goosebumps. The way their voices just danced it was beautiful to listen to. This is a great cd to unwind to enjoy

Totally out of my music box, pun intended. I received IL Divo's cd, The Promise not knowing fully what to expect. The songs have a tune that I like and enjoy but the vocals were a bit unexpected. I've never listened to opera music much but I could learn to like it. The pop inspiration was there, along with the operatic vocals, a nice change to what is normally in my ears. Amazing Grace is my favorite, but all of the selections were ones that I could play, rewind and repeat often. It will be fun to get to know opera and the group that is IL Divo.

I really enjoyed this CD. I was not that familiar with this group before receiving the CD and pleasantly surprised to discover I really enjoyed llisten to them. It was a very relaxing.

This is one of the most romantic and beautiful CD's I have ever heard! All of the songs and all of the voices are so big that the surround you and wrap you up into the music and you get carried away! It is the type of music you play when you are wanting to be transported into another world! Let it take you away! My favorite is Hallelujah. I have this song by another artist is English and it sounds even better sung by such large and powerful voices.

Loved the CD. What powerful voices these men have. Spanish or English, the music is beautiful. Still get chills when I hear several of the songs. Great gift for Mom's.
