O, I LOVED THIS MOVIE & was VERY happy to see I could buy the soundtrack. I had one along time ago & LOST it. I was THRILLED to see Best buy had this. HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY. No, I did NOT need to preview this before buying, because I ALREADY knew I HAD to have this. Brings back a LOT of memories.

If you`re over 25 and familiar with what Rock Bands were and the incredible success and endurance of them (i.e., The Rolling Stones) this is a must have. Bette Midler went from the depths of Disco in 1979 ("Thighs and Whispers") to the depths of Rock `n Roll in her classic performance in her first film "The Rose". These tracks are all "Live" as recorded from the Motion Picture, "The Rose". Bette Midlers` classic Hollywood breakthrough starring and Oscar nominated role. The Hit songs from this CD (which have also become concert expectations in the past two decades of Miss M`s touring) include "When a Man Loves a Woman", "Stay with me Baby", and "The Rose". "The Rose" is the studio recorded version which plays during the credit rolls of this film. Nevertheless, I can listen to the entire CD and feel like a trip back in time. And enjoy it. Bette Midler changed her voice and charachter for this movie. It was a huge risk and it paid off. If you have never seen the movie I suggest you pick that up as well.

This CD played the songs out of sequence. It was horrible quality. I had to return it to the store. Will buy this CD again...but not from Best Buy!
