The Therabody - Theragun mini (2nd gen) Bluetooth enable + app is right for home or professional use. Find and work out knots, kinks, and pain areas in muscles tissues with ease. Easy to use and portable for home or travel, or even to use before or after the gym. Professionals such as doctors, chiropractors, or massage therapist can supplement their work with this unit by addressing trouble spots with exacting precision and with various speeds and pressure for individualized treatments. I found this mini size to be a great addition to our home and for travel. Having the larger/standard sized version, we rarely took it on vacation due to the size and space needed in luggage. The mini solves that problem as it is compact, and the case holds everything needed for a perfect travel size recovery tool. Multiple tips to adjust the therapy to the need is great as it can be used for generalized areas or targeted concerns. PROS - Therabody's brand and innovation - Compact size, but effective like it's larger sibling - Travel-friendly - For home or professional use - Reliability for years of use - Rechargeable/cord-free usage lasts and lasts - Bluetooth and app connectability CONS - None at this time

    Perfection

I have the previous version of the Theragun Mini thought it was almost the perfect compact massage unit. The only thing that kept it from being perfect was added in the 2nd version - USB C charging. I didn't like the idea of accidentally losing the old charging cable and giving it a standard interface means I can give it juice any time I need it. The Theragun Mini is seriously a jackhammer to sore muscles. You're so relaxed at the end you can't do anything but enjoy having been beaten up by the powerful motor. The motor is so powerful that you might have a weakened grip after a long session. It's almost as bad as using a weedeater, but not quite. One thing that I didn't really find use for was the app. While it did offer tips on how to massage, which was actually helpful, the timed massage felt more like a chore than it should. I was more worried about keeping up with the time for the next part to hit that I couldn't really enjoy the spots I was hitting. Plus, sometimes I really need more of a massage on one side than the other. So I'm back to judging for myself where to hit, how long, and how hard. The other inclusion that the older version didn't have was the three different heads. One is a diffused head to hit a larger area without putting too much pressure in a specific spot. This one is my my preferred for my herniated disc area. Hitting that disc too hard causes a sharp pain. The thumb is more of a focused head which works great on shoulders or feet. The standard is a good all-round head for just about anything. I prefer it for my legs since it's a balance of focus and pressure over a large area. Theragun has made for me the perfect after workout accessory. I can't see myself without it.

As a happy owner of the bigger model, I had to give this one a try and am so glad I did. While I love the other model, I’m already convinced that I will be using this one a lot more than the other, not only for travel for which it is perfect, but also for day-to-day use at home and office. The reason for that is that it provides the same type of massage despite its much smaller size. It requires a little more pressure, but the fact that it fits in your hand makes it so much easier and practical to use. Both my wife and I tried other smaller models from other manufacturers in the past and we thought it was a waste of money. But this Theraboy Theragun mini is different in many ways. The first thing you notice is the build quality. It’s not made of cheap material and it massages very similar to its big brother thanks to an excellent built-in battery, which is charged via USB-C, the type of USB cable that can deliver a lot of power. In my wife’s words, it feels just right even in my small hands and just as effective. After almost two weeks of use, I only had to charge it once after the initial charge. The accompanying app is a little more than just gimmick, but it is not much better than dedicated buttons. As I am accustomed to using apps for almost any modern devices, I welcome and see it as positive. My main use is for joint, muscle and rarely for back pain. My wife uses it mostly for muscle pain. The only issue is that because it is very compact, you will be likely taking it almost everywhere you go. That makes it a very personal device and sharing with your family could become a challenge. Other than that, I can’t find any downside to this product.

This is honestly a really great product; it can really get right into the sore muscles and give you a good massage and for me provides almost immediate relief. It has 3 levels of intensity, that turn up for a really powerful massage, making you feel like you are getting a really good deep tissue massage. pros: Comes with a charging cable and three different sized massage heads (1 small 1medium and 1large) to really help get centered on your sore area. The unit doesn't take too long to charge. The battery life of the theragun is prety good at about 2 hrs. You can download their phone app that lets you take control of the device as it walks you through a daily routine which is a nice feature. cons: Haven't really experienced anything wrong with the device. Seems really solid. overall, This is a very powerful massager, with multiple heads that can easily be changed out for pin point accuracy makes this thing super worth it. The massages are great and doesn't leave you sore. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great handheld massager.

As someone who has what could politely be called "less than ideal posture" at my job, discovering myofascial release massage guns was life changing. They are absolutely fantastic for working out knots, and I've heard are great for helping recover after intense outdoor activities as well. Unfortunately, if there's one problem with these devices it's that they tend to be quite large and heavy and as such I could never really bring myself to take them along on a hike or protracted bike ride. Which makes this thing a bit of a game changer. I've spent about two weeks at this point bringing this thing around with me everywhere, and I have to say that having it immediately available has been great. It's not quite as easy to use or thorough as the larger devices, mostly owing to the fact that it doesn't have a grip design that makes it easy to reach awkward places in the middle or your back or hold it firmly in place so it doesn't shake its way free. But for most daily use it's fine, and being able to use it more often does seem to help. My legs in particular feel so much better since I started incorporating this into the start of major activity, and the app has been doing an admirable job in teaching me how to get the best results. I know, the app does at first seem like it would be superfluous as you can usually tell where knots are without help. But as it turns out a lot of the time muscle pain is actually caused by something going wrong elsewhere in the body that might not be immediately painful. And the app's massage programs are really good at guiding you through all the potential trouble points so that you hit the root cause as well as the areas with the worse symptoms. And the fact that this is a bit quieter than the full size massage gun does mean you attract a little less attention from bystanders. There are a few areas that could still stand to be improved though. The biggest one is the carrying case. You get a fitted neoprene carrying case with the device that does a pretty good job protecting it from scuffs (the body is pretty solid, so I don't think it needs to do much more than that.) But fitted is the operative word here. It perfectly fits the gun and one attachment. It comes with three. Having a little more slack in the bottom so you could store all the parts with it without awkwardly stretching the case out would have been a great quality of life improvement. Also, as someone with multiple connected Theraguns, I'm really not that impressed with how the current version of the app handles switching between devices. While it'll let you join multiple devices to the app, it also requires you to select one as your "primary" device. As far as I can tell it only ever tries to connect to the primary device though, rather than just looking for both and going with whichever one happens to be turned on and in range. Given that, this probably wouldn't be the Theragun I'd recommend for anyone with serious muscle pain that they plan to work on at home. As capable as it is, it is still a bit of a step down from the big ones. But as a supplement, or a primary device for anyone who's mostly just looking to address muscle pain from strenuous exercise like hikers or bikers, this is a fantastic device.

As an owner of both the original Thera-gun and now this smaller, lighter model, I can say without a doubt that this smaller version is much easier to use on yourself, where as the original was more optimally used by someone else on you. The weight of the original was the big hinderance. It's not that it was overly heavy, but rather, that it was awkward to hold and got heavy after a few minutes. This one can be put into a bag or purse, carried with you and used wherever you ache without the first bit of having to muscle it. Works wonders on the shoulders after a tension-filled day at work, and work the changeable head you can select the feel of the massage you're receiving from it to your liking. Charging is now done by way of a USB-C port - thankful for that as every room in the house these days has a USB-C plug just waiting to charge something, although the original had the battery packs that could be charged out if you needed additional run time. Between my wife and I we have yet to run the battery dead though, but as always your mileage will vary.

Great Performance in a Compact Package

Percussion massagers are a new way to soothe sore muscles, recover from physical activity and relieve pain in various ligaments and other soft tissue, more effectively than fingers or back scratchers alone. The category has really taken off in recent years, and seemingly every store has a percussion massager available, at many different price points. So how does the newest "mini" offering from a longtime player in this space perform? I'm no professional athlete but I do stay fairly active, and I've long struggled with tightly-wound hamstrings, sore shoulders and calves, and pinched nerves in my lower back and glutes. When looking into percussion massagers I decided to go with a well-known brand that has some history under its belt, as these tools endure a lot of pressure and vibrations in use, and I wanted something that would stand the test of time. Since I'm not a pro athlete or bodybuilder, I decided I didn't need the absolute top-of-the-line machine. I also wanted something compact, so I could travel with it, and not worry about finding a space for it in my apartment. Enter Therabody's Theragun Mini (Gen 2), the newest compact offering from a trusted brand. The Theragun Mini is, I think, downright cute, and it sure is compact. But is it up to snuff when it comes to the goals of a percussion massager? Right off the bat I appreciated the thoughtful, nearly plastic-free packaging of the Theragun Mini, and the included accessories, like multiple attachments and a soft, zippered carrying case. I'm also a big fan of the Mini's USB-C charging port, as this universal solution means one less charging cable to find and pack. I do wish the carrying case could hold all the included attachments as well as the Mini, but I appreciate the portability afforded by the small size. The Theragun Mini's triangular shape fits well in the hand, and -- this is important -- allows you to grip it in such a way that you can exert downward pressure directly on the attachment you're using. This differs from the L-shape of most percussion massagers out there, and I think it's a great idea. It makes for a portable package and my wrists don't undergo as much strain when I'm using the Mini. Setup and operation is very simple, with just one physical button controlling power and percussion speeds. Where the second-generation Mini stands out is its bluetooth connectivity, which connects the Mini to the Therabody app and opens up both more control and easier following of routines to target specific aches, pains, muscles and more. Though not strictly necessary, I found enabling this connectivity more helpful than not. The Therabody app offers dozens of routines for all areas of the body, with each routine guiding you step-by-step through a range of motion with your Theragun. In addition to showing you how to use the device, the app gives you much finer control over the percussion speed than the 1-2-3 physical button offers, and helpfully shows you whether you're in the "preferred" speed range, as well as whether you're applying too much or too little pressure. The routines automatically pause the Theragun for rest/stretch breaks, the timing of which you can control in the app's settings. All told, these app-based features have a lot on offer, but I appreciate that the Theragun Mini is useful with or without the app, for maximum flexibility. The Mini feels very well-built, feeling solid but not too heavy in the hand. All three included attachments snap on and off reassuringly, and are made from a type of foam that Therabody advertises as "closed cell" and washable. If you're regularly using this after exercise, the ability to sanitize the attachments becomes pretty important. Moreover, Therabody offers a range of attachments for purchase that expand the possibilities of your Theragun, which is great to see. In use, I found the Mini to offer plenty of percussion, and with the app's fine-grain control I was able to find a suitable speed with ease. I really like the Mini's triangular design that enables compactness and better pressure application, and I appreciated the feedback about percussion speed and amount of pressure provided in the app. I also appreciate the ability to just grab the Mini and go, with one button on/off making things dead-simple. Overall, Therabody's latest Theragun Mini is a well-made, capable, portable device that offers all the percussion massaging most people probably need in a more affordable, travel-friendly package. The universal USB-C charging, bluetooth connectivity, accessory ecosystem and useful mobile app combine to make one excellent device that should be at the top of your list in the percussion massager space.

I've owned two other products from Therabody. I think the "Mini" version is a great addition to the product lineup. The mini version looks and feels just like the last generation massager. But the mini is a lot more convenient to travel with or throw in a bag and take it with you to a work out. The Therabody app offers some customized workouts but I doubt if I will use those as there are so many alternatives. This next generation product is all about the same high quality massage features and a smaller package. The addition of the accessories is good. In addition to the standard "ball" accessory, the softer ball and "thumb" ball offer great alternatives to work on different areas of your body. It took some experimentation to figure out how to pull the accessory off, but after a few attempts, we figured it out. The battery life on this is excellent as well. I use this massager before and after exercise. The after workout helps the recovery efforts a lot! I'm very impressed with this brand at all the products we have used from Therabody. I highly recommend this to anybody in was in the market for a small but powerful massage device.
