Unfortunately I used this when first purchased just to have one. Now in March 2021 to attempt to use it, it appears the Charger is history.

We purchased two of these units and the switch’s failed. We prefer the old toggle switches in the back. The units we have with the toggle switches word like a dream.

Seriously never thought it could be this bad. No matter if placing a 2.5" or a 3.5" HDD inside sizewise a 120GB or a 4TB it turns itself off and than back on in about every 30 minutes.

It looks great and the idea is awesome but it doesn't work and the horrible website doesn't help either. After reviewing the website I wish I never would have bought it. Returning it now.

As a computer technician, I've been using this docking station for five years with HD's up to 2Gb with perfect results. I'm still using Win 7 Ultimate on my Xeon chip and DX58SO2 board plugged into my USB3. I have used it on my external HD connection but stopped because you have to reboot if you turn off the Docking Station to load the Marvell software. BTW, it even survived my ceiling collapse and wet blown in insulation for three days after hurricane Harvey in 2017 with no issues. I dug it out of the insulation, wiped it off and plugged it in and it stills works today. I'm buying one for a customer now.

I don't like writing negative reviews, and I really, really, wanted - needed - this to work but sadly, it just didn't. Just in case there's a newer model or something, the exact unit I had was model ST0014U-C, copyright 2016 on the box. It worked fine for reading from a hard drive, but extended attempts to write to the drive - two different ones that worked fine in other environments - resulted in errors. The dock would disconnect from my Windows 10 laptop randomly, and the activity light would just flash non-stop, requiring me to power-cycle the dock to get it to recognize in Windows again. I had hoped that this was just a lemon, but searching online resulted in many other users encountering the same problem. Yes, I tried multiple different drives. Yes, I tried only connecting one drive. Yes, I tried both ports. Yes, my laptop was plugged in with power-saving off. Yes, I tried multiple USB ports. Yes, I tried different software. Yes, I checked Thermaltake's site for a firmware update. Yet all had the same result. It would run fine for a few hours with constant writes, then it would suddenly fall off the bus and fail. I'm not sure if it's just an issue with the Jmicron controller the dock uses or what, but it just didn't work reliably. I have other Thermaltake products (cases, power supplies, CPU coolers) and they are great, but this dock was a disappointing dud for me. Others online noted the single-drive BlacX non-Duet version didn't have the same problem, but I was on a deadline and couldn't chance if having the same problem. So I ended up returning the BlacX Duet and buying an Insignia USB 3.0 3.5-inch drive enclosure and that worked fine using the same drives and operations that failed on the BlacX Duet.

Great Product. Purchased after external hard drive failed. Removed hard drive from enclosure and was able to read it with the dock. Also you can run two at a time. Highly recommend.
