Worked just fine for me while I dealt with troubleshooting issues on my desktop. Had a SSD and HD; both read fine.

    Complete Junk

With all the reviews online I figured it would suit my needs and seemed to have stable firmware. Most of the complaints I've seen are about OS recognition of devices. What I didn't manage to see, until now, was that this item is notorious for being defective. I was able to use both drives at once, after I did some raid settings, and I managed to read drives up to 2TB, you can't see anymore with this model. I used this for backups and clones for system builds using Acronis. Only, the fun didn't last very long. After two months of use the LEDs quit working and my OS(s) would have trouble staying connected to the duet. I did some exhaustive tests on multiple devices and cables and it simply was the unit failing. In the third month the unit would spin up the drives but that was it. Nothing else seemed to work. I put a voltage meter on it and the voltage was irregular and that's when I noticed brown spots on the PCB. Apparently the PCB was defective and just burned itself out. Now I know why they did such a quick release on the 5G release after this model was failing! Tried to contact Thermaltake for the 3yr warranty but that was hopeless.

    Warning About Large Capacity Drives

    Posted .

This docking station did not work with my 6 and 8 TB drives. Recognized about 1.8 TB max. It is definitely the fault of the of the docking station because I used a different manufacturers docking station (Sabrent - which stated that it worked with up to 10 TB drives) and it worked fine. Note that Thermaltake does not mention what capacity this docking station will recognize. If you put your large capacity drive in this, it may corrupt the data. It did with mine.

Seems to work fine with usb but the website description describes esata interface. Unit only comes with usb connection. If you need esata don't buy.

    Failed after 10 days

The device has been on a UPS, no power fluctuations. Worked great for the first week. Then I sit down to hear a buzzing noise coming from the device. I power my system down. Then power off the device, power it back on and it will only stay powered on for 10 seconds, and dies. Doesn't matter what power source (ups or wall), drives or no drives. Just dead. Going to return

    Damaged my drives

This Thermaltake Black Duet damaged by External Drives beyond repair. I had my Mac Pro set to "Put drives to sleep when possible". The Drivers in the Thermaltake conflicted with this damage permanently damaged an Intel 520GB SDD and a WD 2TB Caviar HDD. There is no documentation warning about this situation.

After 4 mos failed and as I could not afford the time to send it in to be repaired (my only choice-no returns were allowed) I had to buy another one. Thermaltake will not refund my money, even though I had to buy another one. Don't buy.

This worked for my SSD since it didn't take long to move the files but for my 3.5" drives it keeps resetting mid transfer or the device just shuts off and turns back on disconnecting the HDD in the process. Will be returning this item and looking for something that doesn't have these issues.

    Does not work well

This system does not work well. In the event you are able to see the hard drive, it will either disconnect, or if you are transferring files it will just stop and start randomly and then disconnect. 2 out of three drives it would not even show. I had the predecessor to this model in USB 2.0 and it did they same thing - I just forgot about it. I returned it as it is very expensive and does not work. There is a much better single drive system by another manufacturer that I purchased and it works like this was supposed to.

Purchased this product to backup my laptop hard drives and purchased a new WD 4TB HDD for storage. Could not get my Windows 10 computer to see this drive. Attempted assistance from their customer support by phone and internet support. No reply. Nothing. Ever. Used disc management after research to solve this. Wouldn't have taken them more than a minute or 2 to reply this to me. No telling what will happen if problems with this unit. Discard it? Don' t rely on them!

As of today I turned my computer on and the enclosure was dead. Worked fine for about a year and a half..... I have two of these, so I swapped power supplies and USB cables to troubleshoot.... it's definitely dead. ot used a whole lot and just had 2 SSDs in it so not much power demand. Now I need to go get another one before I can continue my work!

Ive had 2 of these in 8 months. Build was solid, base had some weight to it... Both failed outside of warranty, needed to work on data right away so I had to get the only thing in stock at the time. I have bought other Thermaltake items and they were very good. Not this one.

Purchased March 8th, failed May 31. Will not even turn on. Past warranty, 50 bucks down the drain. I definitely would not recommend this product to anyone.
