OK Camera, software marginal
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Camera is generally OK and as expected. I hardwired it, installation was easy. Its not clear which way is up on the rear camera and software wont flip the video like other camera software. READ THE REVIEWS on the Thinkware Cloud software required to set up the camera. Its not good. It takes a long time to download a video, about half the time the video freezes on the phone and I have only audio. Customer support was sorry of the trouble but offered no further support. Videos do play if you remove the card and insert into the computer, but I don't want to travel with a laptop in case I need the video. It seemed like a good idea to use the smart phone screen and have a smaller package, but poorly implemented. I have a KD Links at the same price point in another car. Sorry I didn't go back with KD links.

THE BOX WILL SAY F200

So when you go to Best Buy the box will just say F200 but it IS the F200D which is a bundle that includes the F200 plus a rear camera. Anyway, my review so far is that this is a good camera system. No LCD makes it smaller than others. The WiFi app is easy to use. Video quality is good. Manual record button is well placed and makes it easy to quickly tell the camera to save an important clip. And THINKWARE ANSWERS THEIR PHONE WITH A REAL HUMAN. A rarity these days. I spoke to them twice today, once before and once after buying this camera. The person I spoke to was pleasant and very knowledgeable about the product.

It's a waste of money

When I disconnected the rear camera, it worked fine for a while, but now even disconnecting the GPS connection is necessary for the unit to function. However, after around two years, it completely stopped working.

Great, for a little while

One about 2 years ago and the second one about 1 year ago. At first, they were great! And when they work they still take great video. The older one just started developing several issues: it will no longer connect to the rear camera, constantly says GPS connection lost (hint: I have never had GPS connected), it will not stay connected to the app, and will not always overwrite the old files. Sometimes when the card gets full it just shows a red light, says there was an error loading memory card, and keeps restarting. I recommend looking at other brands of dash cameras.

Bought for my WRX

(JK) great for what you need! The thinkware app will also help save battery if you do hardwire it which I do recommend doing

So far the installation was a breeze, I used "2 x Littelfuse Holder Micro2 Add-A-Circuit" to install the parking mode cable and updated the cameras via the app. So far, so good . . . The cameras are doing what they were meant to do.

Killed my battery

This drained my battery! Also the app is extremely frustrating to use and won’t let you connect to the WiFi it has. Will be returning.

drained two batteries in one week
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have vehicle at dealership for second time from drained battery for diagnosis which wasn't determined from first battery drainage to be linked to dash cam however, second new battery drained now sits at dealership for further investigation and now we are not using dash cam for other vehicle as well. Waiting for dealership for prognosis in next few days.

Great for "DAY VISION" ONLY.

I wanted it for parking mode but you can't make out anything from the video after dark. People appear as a blur and footage last for about 30 seconds! It defeats the whole purpose of parking mode so you may as well buy ANY other BASIC dash camera because you're only paying for daylight driving recording.

Poor video quality rear camera doesn't work

I have it wired with the accessory harnesses so the camera will record while parked. Whenever I turn the car on the voice command tells me everything it caught while parked and tells me that the rear camera has been disconnected. The rear camera never has any saved video and the couple it has had is completely black. This is frustrating especially when I spent hours routing the wires through the car.

Not Happy

I've had this dual cam for a month and the struggle has been going on since day one. For some reason, the Thinkware Wifi connection drops if you close out the app on your phone. It's a constant struggle to keep connection (no, it has nothing do with the area!). God forbid you want to close the Thinkware app to use Google Maps, or your music streaming app, connection will be lost and you have to sit there and work on getting connected again. ALSO, it does not automatically connect when you turn on the vehicle. You have to sit there and manually connect the Thinkware Wifi. I have coworkers that also have Dash Cam's and they don't have to do this (will have to look into what brand they are using and switch to that). Today I almost got clipped on the rear corner while driving on the freeway...I was looking forward to looking at the video upon coming home, but guess what?! Thinkware Wifi must have dropped or something, because it did not capture about 10 minutes of my freeway drive. SO FRUSTRATING. If you are looking for a dash/rear camera that stays on, with strong connection, that you don't have to remember to turn on and connect every time you get in your car, THIS IS NOT IT. Very unreliable. I've emailed Thinkware about this problem, and I also plan to return this product for a full refund. Not worth the $200 (with installation) that I paid.

Posted .Hello There, Please note that when connected via WIFI the dash cam is not recording footage until disconnected. Due to this the WiFI does not auto-connect and will auto-drop if the app is closed or you are inactive so the device can resume regular function. The app is not supposed to be used while driving only to retrieve necessary footage or change settings.

Does not work. Will not connect to phone wifi

Downloaded the thinkware app and tried it on two android devices and same thing. Had a friend download the app on his iphone and he couldn't connect to camera either. Best Buy customer service and has no help in getting this resolved so sent an email to thinkware so hopefully they stand behind their products.

Do not buy! No app!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not buy this. The app for the iPhone is no longer supported and has not been updated in over 4 months. You can’t connect to the dash cam via the app anymore. So setting up the camera or reviewing video is no longer an option. You will need to carry a SD card adaption for your phone. You can’t use SD cards that are not thinkware. The dash cam will crash. Their customer service will jus send you outdated instructions. When I say outdated I mean it hadn’t been updated in over 2 years.

Not User Friendly

For those not technical, the actual application expects you to know how to work it rather than actually teach you how to. So precaution if you are older and not tech savvy.

Didn’t record vandalism on car

Other day someone threw a can of paint all over the back of my car and it didn’t pick it up. It recorded an empty parking lot prior and next recording is when the cop pulled up after the incident.
