Good stuff from the Motley Crue Rocker
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had considered checking out this group for a while. Every song on the album isn't a winner but it has me thinking I will purchase other works from the group.

Sixx AM - This Is Gonna Hurt
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been eagerly awaiting this album. Haven’t said that very often in the last 10 years. The Heroin Diaries is one of my all-time favourite CD’s, so I was pretty concerned that the expectations I placed on this new one would not be met. The were and then some. This will most likely be my CD of the year. Won’t be for everyone, but everyone should give it a listen. If you likeld THD, than you will like this. If you didn’t like THD, there’s a pretty good chance that you’re still gonna like this one. Here’s my track by track… This Is Gonna Hurt – I struggle with the first song on any album for some reason. I see the first song as setting the scene for what is to come, but the first song never really does that for me. This one is a speedy trashy rocker which is a good song but not one of my favorites. Maybe it will grow on me in time. Lies Of The Beautiful People – the first single off the CD and a great song. Kinda like Life Is Beautiful in that it took me a few listens to really get into it. My kids love this song. Are You with Me – Great song, lots of different tempos and moods. Reminds me a little bit of Live at the start, but then turns into a great rocker. Live Forever – Probably my favourite song of the CD. Can see Papa Roach influence a little bit here. Hooky and addictive. Sure Feels Right – this one sounds like a Hot Action Cop ballad. They are one of my favourite bands so this song was an instant hit with me. Lyrics are pretty well put together. The vibe reminds me of Drift Away at times (the Dobie Gray song) Deadlihood – Reckon this one is left over from the SOLA sessions, Could have been on that album, but hard to imagine it with Vince’s vocals. An Ok song, catchy enough not to go to the trouble of skipping. Smile – I’ve yo-yo’ed with this song. Loved it, then tired of it, now I like it a lot. A love ballad, full of violins, it’s an easy song to listen to. Help Is On The Way – Extremely Butch Walkeresque. If you like Butch’s music, you’ll love this song. An up tempo rocker, it’s kinda funky and poppy and ‘full of words’. Oh My God – The U2 song, as my wife calls it and it’s easy to see why. Not a big U2 fan myself, but I love this song. Traditional hooky rock song, should be the next single. Goodbye My Friends – Probably left over from The Herion Diaries, also could have been on SOLA. Not one of my favorites, but may grow on me more in time. Skin – According to Steel Panther, nobody ever listens to the last song on the album. Probably might want to take the time for this one, unless you hate slow vocal dominated ballads. Just piano and violins accompany a great vocal effort.

An excellent album

Positive points: Dj Ashba's solos are AMAZING. Some of the best guitaring I've heard in ages. The lyrics are outstanding, and James Michael delivers them perfectly. Also, 'This is Gonna hurt', the opening track, is one of the most 'in your face' album starts I've ever heard. I absolutely love that song! Negative points: 'Sure feels right' feels really out of place. It's an outstanding song, but it doesn't really flow well with the rest of the album. Cover art is average - reminds me of Good Charlottes 'Cardiology'. All in all, I would definitely recommend this, especially if you're a fan of bands such as 'Papa Roach', or Motley Crue themselves.
