    TBS' Take on a Concept?

Since John and Shaun rejoined the band TBS has matured with more of a rock sound, that I think has fully come to fruition with this record. Self-titled and Happiness Is seemed to like the band were trying to negotiate between their post-punk roots and the mature songwriting of guys coming up on age 40. This record is the end of that negotiation. There are still jams that will fit in between TAYF and WYWTB tracks in a live set (most notably the title track) but the entire record plays as a whole unit, perhaps the closest they've come to a single concept album. There are details that carry through the entire record like tones and melodies in the cuts between tracks and the tone and atmosphere that make this much more cohesive work than anything else in their catalog. Its not a typical TBS record by definition, and probably their weakest effort when you look at it from the perspective of other TBS albums, but as a singular rock record it is pretty good.

an amazing offering from and amazing band. amazing how they have grown and become even better over the last 10+ years. don't expect to find this in your local Best Buy tho. pretty silly to me that as a Best Buy exclusive an employee had to go to the back to get it, as they only had 3 copies "none of which were on the sales floor" p.s. Best Buy's "cd" selection is a joke.

This album is has its ups and downs. Holy water, death wolf, and I felt it too are the three better sounds. Happiness album (precious album) is better overall but I still listen to all of this Tidal Wave album because I'm a fan since day 1 :)

I was very pleased and happy with this new album. The songs are good. The music is decent, and they seemed to capture some of the old sound that made them one of my favorite bands. Would definitely recommend this for Taking Back Sunday fans.

I really enjoy Taking back Sunday, so when I heard about the release of Tidal Wave I went right out bought it. I don't have much to say, other than I don't love it. There wasn't anything in particular wrong with the music; it just doesn't sound like the Taking back Sunday of the past, not to me at least. One of my all time favorite cd's is Tell all your friends (2002), and in my opinion, this sounds nothing like that one. A band is going to grow and possibly change sound over the course of 14 years, I personally just didn't care the direction this cd went in.

Tidal wave is the best Taking Back Sunday record to date. It starts out strong with Death Wolf and never stops. The drums are out of this world and I believe the vocals on this album are better than they've ever been.

I've been a fan of TBS from the beginning. Although, I was skeptical of the album at first, after seeing them in concert and they played the album from cover to cover, I have a new appreciation for it.

3 albums in with their return to their original line-up TBS have grown confident in a more classic-rock approach and it shows as this is a consistent effort and one the best in 2016.

I've enjoyed this Taking Back Sunday album. All of the tracks flow together well. I would've liked some harder rocking songs like the title track "Tidal Wave".

Taking Back Sunday didn't explore any new ground but they do what they do well. If you are looking for their best album, I'd choose "Tell All Your Friends".

Longtime TBS fan and I'm impressed once again. Bonus tracks aren't much to write home about, but diehard fans will appreciate hearing the band mess around at the end of the album.

This album brings taking back Sunday back. There's an energy that seemed to be missing for a while but they've grown and this is a great new sound

Best Buy exclusive has 2 additional tracks, good cd just doesn't seem to have as many catchy songs as previous tacking back Sunday albums,

It's not as classic as there earlier albums but these guys are skilled musicians and lyricists. They've grown up but not grown old.
