Programming guide issues / poor support

I purchased this in December and almost two months later I still am battling with Tivo because I don't get the correct programming guide information. They say it's a third party, etc. etc., but I'm paying Tivo $14.99/mo plus what I paid for their equipment. I should not be hearing "it isn't something we have control over". I would definitely avoid this Roamio OTA device, as they don't really stand behind it.

Overall unimpressive. It's going back to Best Buy

Unit misses the mark in every way. The unit is big, the remote is big, it's outdated and doesn't even show up on Tivo.com, Subscription is expensive for OTA cord cutters (just totally defeats the purpose of free TV/cord cutting). No lifetime option but unit that supersedes this costs $400 with no subscription fees and has double the HD capacity. It's just a 4-tuner OTA DVR with Hulu, Amazon and Netflix capabilities. Requires accessories at additional costs to truly realize the full potential of this unit and it literally takes hours to setup/update/download, etc. I purchased this to check it out at $39. There are conflicting reports on whether this unit is usable without a subscription and I will say that it's just a TV tuner without a subscription (which you can do on your TV anyway) and nothing more. I am a current user of Amazon FireTv and for $39, I would rather buy an extra FireTv stick for the bedroom TV. For $15/month, I would rather pay for Hulu, Netflix, HBO now or Amazon Prime.

    OTA TUNER DEFICIENT

this is what we ran into setting ours up last night. Hitachi tv tuner works great, but the tivo found only 4 stations and then skipped over 2 of them on channel up down. suspected splitter, ran straight cable, no difference. did the mad dash internet search for the best antenna, and decided with a dismal 14 day return policy with BB, it's going back. i don't want to rush to trouble shoot the issue, by spending more money in a frenzy, to fix what seems like a tivo tuner issue. back to the drawing board for cable cutting ota signal. android tv box and kodi takes care of our other needs perfectly.

    Poor Value

OTA does not tell you that you need to have extremely good signal quality, and if you were to base good signal quality based on what you normally would see on the TV (no snow, etc), you would be incorrect. We typically see the program live and the channel looks great, the the recording is full of glitch's, and problems with the audio sync. When we contacted TIVO, they said we need a better signal. Except we can not improve the signal, so the product is pretty useless on many channels. ON some it is good. But with the overall reliability being hit or miss, the $14.95 a month is way over priced, as you can not rely on it.

TiVo works great as a DVR but also records programs for you based on your viewing history. Love it!

Can't seem to get it right.

I bought this box and in about five days it quit working. Since, Tivo has sent me four more, all of which arrived with no sound. Each box was tested with two different amplified antennas, two different TVs, and four different HDMI cables (all new). Tivo told me this is a known problem with this box, so tread carefully.

Misleading listing; not for cable TV

This isn't the basic TIVO. Most people need the more-expensive model that gets their cable, satellite or fiber signal. This one only receives TV signals "through the air" with its antenna. That's what "OTA" means. This description is misleading because it doesn't conspicuously say that. You probably need model TCD846500; SKU: 1503955. If in doubt, call TIVO directly. That's how I found out, and I'm an experienced TIVO user having bought four. This price is too-good-to-be-true for the lowest price standard model for most buyers.

TiVo service subscription required and sold separately! $15 month. So if your buying this to eliminate monthly bills... Don't.
