Q: Can I pause, rewind fast fwd..with the Tivo Ota?
A: If you have recorded an OTA program, then pause, rewind, and fast fwd work fine. For live TV, you can pause or rewind only, of course.
Q: what does it mean Tivo Service via broadband connection with respect to the OTA
A: I'm no expert, but the TiVo Roamio OTA device uses a broadband connection (and $15/mo service fee) to connect your TiVo Roamio OTA device to Tivo services, such as your TV channel guide info, Season Pass features, and most notably, streaming services, such as Netflix, VUDU, Hulu Plus, Amazon Video, YouTube, Pandora, etc. Without a broadband connection, you should probably consider the Channel Master DVR+ instead, because without the TiVo Service, the TiVO Roamio OTA device would behave similarly to an old VCR, and you must manually schedule your recordings by knowing the channel, date and time of future programs in order to record them (no Season Pass, TiVo Suggestions, etc.) The TiVo Service subscription also gives you mobile device control over your TiVo recordings, especially when you're not sitting in front of your TV. Q: Can you use this device without being subscribed to Tivo? For example, OTA or Netflix?
A: You can not use it without a TIVO subscription. I attempted to "test" it for OTA and such before subscribing. I could fumble through and get to the live TV, but only sorta. It knows when you have not subscribed and is not designed to work without a subscription.
Q: Can you use this tivo device without broadband service
A: I have two Tivo Roamio's, all i use is my HD antenae, I have no problems recording my local shows. I also record programs while using wi-fi. It really is very simple. Just wanted to pass that along! The best thing I have ever used for saving my favorites shows.

A: This unit is only for direct connection to an antenna for over the air HD recording.
A: No, the Tivo is a separate component and works independently of the TV. Although the OTA antenna must go into the Tivo first.
