Kills the nostalgia of the old THPS and does a remarkable job

I'm someone who played all of the THPS games and even in the top 20 of the global leaderboards for this game. That being said, I know a lot about a good Tony Hawk game. Gameplay: They nailed the THPS formula with a few variations that make the game kinda meh. Like the fact you can only do 5 reverts until you stop completely. Most of the levels are not made for these mechanics, so in most levels you'll have a lot of wide open space with nothing to combo off. There are very few half-pipes in each level, which makes the new mechanics almost pointless, but in levels with half-pipes, they limit you on how much you can use them. Single Player: This has a lot of things going for it, such as the campaign. Personally, I found this game being the PS1 versions with upgraded graphics is actually quite frustrating. Their commitment to making it exactly like the PS1 versions is amazing, but that's kind of the problem...it plays like the PS1 versions. It can be frustrating at times or just laughably easy now that they added the ability to combo easier. It's not bad and heck if you like the originals, you may enjoy it. I thought I would, but after finding out that *surprise* this plays like the old THPS, both the good and definitely the bad, I had very little interest in completing it. Online: The worst part of the game is the online. There's no way to chat with friends, no way to observe after time, everything is put into battle royal playlists, no private lobbies, no custom parks with friends. There's nothing here but going into a random room with random people being forced to play random games on a random level forever. My point: If you like THPS 1 and 2 for the single player, then you might like it. If you're getting it hoping that after the short single player session you might hop online with friends, I'd avoid this. Almost everyone I know in the THPS community has gone back to THUG Pro, which is a modded version of Tony Hawk's Underground 2 with all of the levels from every THPS game added, along with several quality of life improvements. I honestly recommend buying a copy of THUG 2 for PC and installing THUG Pro over it as it's a way better value right than this game and THUG Pro still has a striving community where you can actually do all of the things (and more) this game doesn't allow for.

If you played the original thps games, then this might be a little more special to you. They hit with most of the same old soundtrack and even new great songs. The levels look amazing and still keep the old style from before. For the price, you can’t beat it. Worth every penny. So much more to do than play the original game modes now too!
