I thought it was going to be too big because of its size but somehow, it’s size (55 inch) doesn’t give off an overbearing feeling in my living room. I like the option for it to talk. It’s a brand (Toshiba) that I can trust and it looks great.

User friendly with most streaming options as well as games and apps. Great structure of the menus. I’m not scared to play around with it because it resets nicely

IPicture is decent, and bright...even when dimmed down. A bit low when placed on a table. A few inches make a difference...ESPECIALLY with the really poor placement of the Remoe's censor! If I would have known, I never would have considered it! The sensor is located on the LOWER RIGHT BOTTOM!
If you're are a bit handicapped with your right hand...you need to move everything to even have a chance to use the remote! Even the installer was surprised to see this!
The remote itself is too small to handle without dropping. Its buttons are mot touch sensitive, and need to put more effort into adjustments. My od Samsung was ideal . The sensor's placement was center of the screen, and perfect for any handicapped perso, This is not a bit!
Overall, I'd give this TV a 5 for performance and picture quality, a 2 for design and consumer ease of operation, but a 7 for price
These new IV's are BIC...or throwaway TV's.
I'm certain that all these new Tv's are designed to be mounted on the wall ( for even more expense of additional brackets, not included, of course!).
PROS: Price
Picture and sound quality
A child could install it! Extremely easy.
CONS: EVERYTHING ELSE!
( Doug McClure on my photo, looks like I feel with this set!

I bought this to use in our screened in porch and so far it has exceeded our expectations. With a little tweaking the picture is great. As with just about any tv, the sound is mediocre, so you may as well purchase a sound bar. I am amazed that you can get a 55" tv for a little under $300. I don't mind the 1080p since most content is within that limitation. I also don't mind that it isn't "smart". A fire stick took care of that. Does this look as good as my $1500 Sony? No, but for what we wanted it for I don't think I could have done any better.

My Mom is elderly and wanted a new TV for Christmas. She is not very good with technology. She doesn't even have a computer. So, a smart TV with 4K, internet, Apps, etc, was out of the question. She loves a good picture though. We found this TV for less than 400 during Christmas and she loves it. If you want a basic TV, with a great, sharp, clear picture and aren't a snob, this TV will be just fine. Seniors who are not up on Technology, or if you want just a basic TV, you can't go wrong with this one. I remember in 2006, you would be paying 3,000 for this TV, I paid 6K for a Sony 60 inch in 2006 now we are calling this a basic TV. HAHAHA...Great for gaming, movies, and cable or for folks who don't want all the bells and whistles, just a clear picture, good sound, and it lasts. I still have my old Sony 60 and a 65 4K smart TV 120HZ and paid out the nose for both of them, you can't beat this TV for the money. Not even 400 dollars for 1080P and almost 60 inches ain't bad IMHO

It's fairly simple to install. We already have a firestick so we were looking for a basic non-smart tv and this was perfect. The resolution and sound needs adjusting in the beginning. The HD channels look good. Doesn't show grainy resolutions like other tvs in its size range. The sound quality is decent although I did set it to the optimal bass option. Once I set it to our preference it's been fighting over who gets to watch what in our household.

When we went in search of a TV, we thought we would be getting a 4K, afterall that was what everyone was recommending. When we got to the BestBuy store, we looked at all of the 4K TV’s that would be in the $300 range and realized that their screens were made of a matte material which glared. We have a huge window and a sliding door near where the TV would sit. Then we saw this one on display. It was facing the door. It was a little bit bigger and a little bit less expensive, and according to our very confused sales rep it has less colors, but there was no glare. As soon as we got it home, we knew we had made the right choice!

I bought this for only $290 after I brought back an LG 4k television that was horrid in picture quality.
This television freaking rocks, and that is based on the price.
1) only $290
2) very light, makes it simple to hang on a tv mount
3) never had one problem with picture, sound, or power
4) looks fantastic from every viewing angle
My father in law has an outside patio with a tv mount and speakers. He asked for my opinion on what television to get and mentioned tv's made for the cold weather. Those are over $1000 for hdtv for the same size as this tv. I convinced him to buy this Toshiba for $300 and said if the television fails outside in the cold, he could buy two more new ones and still be under $1000. It has been over 2 years outside in the cold and it still works fine.

If you’re looking for a simple, high quality HD TV look no further. This TV has everything you need for a fantastic TV/Movie experience without the bells and whistles.
If you’re looking for a 4K smart TV, or a TV with built in Netflix and Hulu, this isn’t your TV. This TV does, however, offer a great video/audio experience at an incredible price - I highly recommend you consider this Toshiba.
The audio is great, it has tons of options for balancing. I prefer the “Music” default settings. The picture is fantastic. My cable box doesn’t support 4K so I’m happily viewing in stunning 1080p.
Setup is super simple. 4 provided screws and a Phillips screwdriver is all you need. Took me about 4 or 5 minutes. Easily a one-man job.
Best TV I’ve ever owned. Don’t take my word for it, get one for yourself!

My 10 years old 1080p tv was dying so we got this tv. I paid over 1200 for last one. the tv was for the bedroom so i did not really care 4K. I just have to say WoW. sound is great, screen is great. Great price great product. Also it was sooo much lighter than my old tV. I could take it out the box and set it up by myself

We went to Best Buy with a different television in mind - but when we saw this one - and the lower price, we opted for this model. It is fantastic and I'm so glad we made this choice. The picture is great and it was beyond easy to set up. One person (me) put on the legs, turned it on, and it was good to go!

Since most video games will not go to 4k soon, we wanted to upgrade our Sony Bravia 46-inch LCD from 6 years ago to a bigger screen with thinner bezel before 1080p televisions become harder to find in stores.
We are very happy with this Toshiba 55-inch 1080p screen. I would definitely buy it again. Most of our screen time is with video games: Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, gaming PC. We still have the older ones connected too: Playstation 3, Wii-U, Xbox 360. For movies and music we use Apple TV 4th generation 1080p. All are working fine on the Toshiba LED screen. We use a 5-port HDMI switcher for the game consoles which automatically switches to the device which is turned on.
OPTICAL AUDIO OUT from the Toshiba screen works perfectly. Sound output is connected via optical cable to our Logitech 5.1 surround sound powered speakers. This eliminates need an audio receiver.
We don't use speakers built-in to the Toshiba screen, so I can't speak to quality there.

For the price this TV delivers what I needed. I needed this to replace a 10 year old Plasma and I have not been disappointed, it also works well with my Sonos Soundbar and was easy to assemble.
My only criticism is that the stand does not allow me to rotate around as it has four pods on each corner - can be a little annoying but not a deal breaker.

For what it is, this Toshiba 1080HD (not 4K) 55"TV has a very clear and precise picture, the color is more than adequate, and the built-in surround sound makes watching movies a pleasure. For our needs this TV exceeds our expectations.
