While the web site claims an S-Video output, this is only for DVD. The web site also claims it will play S-VHS, but the manual does not mention this, and the picture quality with S-VHS is un-watchable. I plan to return it and get a better player. If it seems too cheap to be true....

Customer Service for this Toshiba product is non exsistant I tried calling 5 phone numbers that all sent me in a loop, then to a web site with no instructions. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER TOSHIBA PRODUCT AGAIN!!!!!

Please for the love of all that's holy....do not buy this - unless you're into failure and pain. I bought it and could not get it to follow the directions given. Called Toshiba.....took a while to find a number that still worked. After two hours of working with a "tech"...we learned nothing. His final recommendation - take it back and get your money back.

I wonder if the agent you spoke with indicated that the unit did not work as designed and was defective. That's my guess based on the info in your review, in which case I'd expect a replacement unit to work perfectly fine, if you got one.
Please let us know the final outcome if you have a replacement unit and I hope you'll update the star rating if it's working fine.
