This was well worth the price. You can't put a price on old home videos. I am in the process of converting my VHS videos to DVD. This is great.

I gave this as a gift to my brother, and he loved it. It was simple plug and play and he found it easy to navigate. He has used it to view older work that he saved to vhs and said it was great.

This is is good player for old VHS tapes, of which I have many. It's was easy to install and operate.

Everything about this product performs as advertised. The performance and quality of the DVD recorder are very good. Those reviews that complain about the documentation are either too lazy to read the manual or think that all they should have to do is push a button and it will magically know what they want it to do. This is a very sophisticated device, with many capabilities, that requires careful attention to detail, and close reading of the manual in order to make full use of all that it can provide. The manual is very thorough and detailed, but it is not a quick read and requires one to spend the time and effort to gain a good understanding of how everything works. The one very noticeable shortcoming that it has is that the DVD recorder will not record on blank dual layer DVD's. Nor is there any mention about this limitation in the documentation or on the Toshiba WEB site. In fact, you would never know that there is such a thing as dual layer DVD's from the documentation. I had to actually try one to find out that you can't record to one. For most people, this is probably not a problem, but it is worth mentioning, and there should definitely be a disclaimer about it by Toshiba in the documentation.

I have a bunch of old VCR tapes. I had been using a converter that I hooked up between an old VCR and my PC. Worked OK until the VCR wore out, then the next VCR, etc. Also, I had to buy expensive double-density black DVDs. This system is all in one. Put the VCR tape in one side, put a DVD-R in the other side, hit the "Dubbing" button on the remote, and walk away from it. Two hours later my VCR is copied to the DVD and I'm ready for the next one. It also plugs into my cable box, allowing me to make DVD's of cable shows....

This recorder is just what I wanted. It was easy to used.

I brought the DVD writer home and immediately began burning all of my old VHS tapes. I also grabbed some of my friend's old VHS, and burned them too, so that she could have somehing for her kid to watch. I haven't had a single problem transferring the VHS to DVD. It's simple to use and does the job.

The DVD/VCR combo works great and was easy to install.
