I bought this to view old VCR tapes that I didn't have labels on and don't know what is on it or for how long. It has worked perfectly so that I can figure out how much tape has been used. I haven't started to copy to the DVR which is what I bought it for...so we shall see when I do that. It is pretty easy to use right now.

I bought this as a birthday gift for my son. He copies a lot of DVD's from old Videos. He said it is easy to use and easy to set up. The quality of the recording is very good. The only negative is it does not record in reverse that is from DVD to tape. He is very satisfied with the product.

It's a nice unit and does what we needed it for, converting VHS tapes to DVD, however, not knowing the terms/language, I thought I would 'copy' didn't work, it's Dubbing! so make time to read the manual to understand what you're doing.

I have 20 yrs. of VHS tapes to transfer & figured this would be the most cost conservative way to do it. I did have to read the directions several times and missed the part re: settings for playback, and my new DVD's do not play on my mother's fairly new DVD player. I'm sure it has to do with the settings you have to select when copying. If you don't like to read directions (like me) it will take some time to get everything right. This is not an Apple product, it is not intuitive. That said, I was able to transfer the first 4 years worth and will tackle the rest when I "get around to it". It does take time to transfer each tape, and if you have a long gap between recording sessions of the VHS the Toshiba may think the tape is over & stop transferring. I found the most reliable way to transfer was while actually watching the tape, which may be fun & interesting, but is very time consuming.

I bought this item with the fear of being intimidated wiring it up to the rest of my electronics. This was not the case. I was using it almost immediately and the results of the recordings are as represented in the manufactures literature.

The DVD Recorder works fine. I only wish that Panasonic still made DVD Recorders. I am more familiar with how Panasonic DVD Recorders work and wouldn't have to refer to the manual as often.

I bought this vcr/dvd player/recorder as a gift for my father, he loved it!

I bought this item because I read you can dub from VHS to blank DVD discs. Not only can you do this, but it is amazingly easy. Not to mention watching all of my old VHS movies that I could never find on DVD, Adventures of Ford Fairlane, to mention one. Unfortunately, you can't dub copy protected movies. Toshiba is a name I've trusted for so long and this purchase will keep me buying this brand for years to come!

I priced getting my vhs tapes transferred to dvds they wanted 9.50 a piece. When i had over 30 to do this just wasn't affordable. So now not only can i get them transferred i can also make copies for each of my children for a reasonable price.
