I also have a lot of homemade tapes that need to be dubbed since the tape integrity is declining. The loader mechanism failure on the VHS side wasn't enough to make me give up on the product.

He said it is very easy to transition btwn VHS and DVD player. He finds this very easy to use, but would recommend a universal remote for anyone who may be thinking about this for someone older. My dad had difficulty with the buttons.

I had so many to transfer, I had dreams that I was transferring in my sleep. This was the perfect purchase for me. If you want an excellent piece of equipment, my recommendation would be buy a Toshiba multiformat converter.

I would have been happier with a less expensive and much less featured device. But if you want a lot of bells and whistles this delivers a lot of value.
