Unfortunately, this possibility is one of the disadvantages of the VHS format and the vulnerability of the tape medium is one of the big motivators for many to purchase a device such as this to migrating our personal videos to more reliable and resilient digital formats.

It also did not play all brands of DVD's. I was told this model would, but so far no luck. Also, the connection instructions could be a little more clarified. I am considering contacting the Toshiba for their advice.

When this would happen you would have to power up each time and start the process over again. Besides that I did not know there was a 15 day return policy on electronics. So when I returned it it was a few days past the 15. Then I was told they could not order this online because it was discontinued and there was not anymore in the store. They could send it back to see if it could be fixed but would take 2 weeks. I could not get my money back and had to get in store credit. To say the least I was not happy and will probably not go back to Best Buy after my in store credit is used.
