This player/recorder is too complicated for the average person. I tried to record a TV program on DVD, but it didn't record. The DVD drawer will not open when pressed by remote or manual. I called for support, but was told it was out of warranty (less than a month old)and I would be charged for information. The Geek Squad wants $150. oo to come help. I can't afford that. So we're stuck with a new device that doesn't work or we can't get it too work because it's too complicated. We are NOT technology engineers here!

I would like to let u know that these product is very good for the house. I really like it. & it's also HD too. I just like to Thank u for Best Buy.

Did a good job converting tapes of family to discs.

I have another one just like it. It was good to not have to learn an entire new machine for recording our shows.

The only reason I bought it is it's the only DVD player that I could find that also plays the old VCR's.

We have old VHS tapes of our children and grand chilren

The main negative I have about the product is the directions for use are very confusing. It shouldn't be so complicated that you have to look up the steps each time you use it.

Unfortunately, there are only 2 DVR units available in the marketplace, Toshiba and Magnavox. Best Buy only had the Toshiba in the store, so we purchased that unit. It does the job but it is very finicky about the DVD formats it will play, which is a definite drawback. Also, Toshiba has no phone support for this product, and the manual is less than comprehensive therefore it takes forever to figure out the problem at hand. I do so wish that Samsung, Vizio or other major company made a unit.

For those still in possession of VHS movies and tapes, this is a great product. The fact that it is also a DVD recorder/player is an added bonus.

Not noisy when you start movies. Audio is better than previous unit

I was very pleased with the Toshiba DVD recorder. The transaction was easy and shipment was quick.

After being assured by the sales associate that this unit had an on-board tuner, so I could record on one channel while watching another, on opening the box at home, I discovered it does NOT have an on board tuner. As I'm an "old school" person, using a back-of-the-set antenna for "OTAB" (Over The Air Broadcasts), this unit had been misrepresented to me. The unit was returned in the original box, and the cost of the device, along with the service plan, were deducted from my credit card bill. I was inconvenienced by not having a VCR/DVD recorder/player combination machine for a month, right at the start of the new broadcast season.

Limitation of the product was not known until after it was purchased and installation was attempted. One of the worst customer service experiences I have every had. Tech service was non-english and couldn't talk or understand my problem. I gave up and returned the product to Best Buy and purchased a competitors product from a competitors store. If the player/recorder needs a tuner to work, spell it out in your ads and at the least, in large type on the box.

it worked perfect right out of the box and did what i wanted

Needed to convert about 300 VHS to DVD to prevent the images from going bad.

Having both the DVD and VCR in one unit allows me to house the unit in the TV stand which was limited in space.

couldn't connect to the cable box. Not even with tech support.
