I wonder if you've tried adjusting the tracking. If the unit proves to be defective you can initiate the warranty replacement process at acclaim.toshiba.com anytime during the warranty period.

They supposedly record, but the DVDs won't play. We have read the instructions several times and tried with several different cassettes and settings. Never could get it to work. It's a waste of money.

I could not get any information on the internet either. I purchased the unit to dub some VCR tapes onto DVD. So far I can only play DVD's no VCR tapes. I am very upset because I wanted to transfer some priceless footage from a vaccation in Europe to DVD.
