The only problem I see with it is the letter's are so small it is hard to read things for someone like myself who wears glasses.

I primarily use my laptop for Outlook e-mail, Microsoft Word and OneDrive and moderate web searches. I also have facebook up on one of my internet tabs. It is way too slow. Freezes up ALL THE TIME. Too bad I didn't have the time to exchange it until week four of owning it. Now, I'm stuck with a laptop I don't use. It's laying around somewhere and I'm just borrowing someone else's for the time being. Frustrating. Had I known it can't handle basic programs, I would have spent more and bought a better laptop. I can't imagine what kind of basic use this is intended for.

Posted .Thank you for the review, civash1, and sorry to hear that you're seeing some sort of performance issue with your Satellite E45.
This model is equipped with an Intel Core i5-5200U Processor and 6GB of RAM, which would be considered fully capable of handling any typical day-to-day computing needs.
I wonder how long you've had the unit. if it's brand new and Windows Update has been busy downloading & preparing updates for installation then that process will tax initial performance for a period of time until Windows is finished updating itself. You may want to run the Windows Update app to see what it's up to, if anything. If it has critical updates to install, I recommend having it complete that process ASAP and reboot when it's finished (even if not required) to see if performance improves significantly once that process is complete.
We don't recommend letting Windows Update install any "optional" updates since those can overwrite drivers & utilities that are optimized for or by Toshiba. Optional updates can be installed via the Toshiba Service Station app or by visiting support.toshiba.com.
If the above situation doesn't apply in your case because it's been in use for some time, I recommend performing a Windows Reset to restore the laptop to its factory settings. System lock-ups can indicate corruption of critical drivers or Windows itself, which would be resolved by the Windows Reset process. Be sure to back up all critical data before performing a Windows Reset, since it will remove all programs & data added after the factory installation.
The Toshiba Forums community knowledgebase article and video at forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/How-To-Understanding-System-Restore-Refresh-Reset-and-Recovery/ta-p/342690 has detailed instructions on how to do a Windows Reset.
If none of the above resolves the problem, please call Toshiba support at 800-457-7777 for further diagnosis and, if needed, to make warranty repair arrangements.
