Then when our son graduated high school and wanted to purchase a computer I recommended the Toshiba brand and he picked out this one which was the exact same model I purchased! We are very glad to report we are loving our laptops and I just upgraded to windows 10 on mine (for free!). Thanks Toshiba for making such a high quality product that performs well and lasts!

Cheap But Slow

We're glad to hear that it is working for you in general, and that you seem to think that it is working as advertised. Of course, the higher-powered models in the Satellite C55 family with Intel Core i5 and i7 processors are available for those who need significant processing power.
That said, depending on how long you've had the unit, I wonder if Windows Update has been busy downloading & preparing updates for installation. That's often the case on brand new systems, and if so it will tax initial performance for a period of time when the system is brand new. You may want to run the Windows Update app to see what it's up to, if anything. If it has critical updates to install, I recommend having it complete that process ASAP and reboot when it's finished (even if not required) to see if performance has improved once that process is completed. I don't recommend letting Windows Update install any "optional" updates since those can overwrite drivers & utilities that are optimized for or by Toshiba. Optional updates can be installed via the Toshiba Service Station app or by visiting support.toshiba.com.

This does all that, is fairly light weight, and the battery life is excellent. So far so good.

A bit slow due to the huge Windows 10 footprint, but stable. No crashes. Would be much faster with a memory upgrade. Would recommend it to those wanting a reliable laptop at bargain prices!

Capable yet inexpensive

I don't know about performance because I do not use it. I would not buy it for myself because I despise Windows 8.
