We're glad to hear that you find your C55 good for typical casual computing tasks.
Although your model is based on the Intel Celeron processor rather than a Core i3, i5, or i7, it should still be reasonably fast for basic computing. Of course, the perceived speed of any PC will depend somewhat on the number of programs and processes currently running on the unit at any point in time, and their respective demands on various components, subsystems, and networking resources. Rebooting Windows and then checking performance after loading each individual app is one way to determine when the resource load begins to impact performance, and which apps most impact performance.
Regarding the sound quality, you may want to update or reinstall your Audio driver with the software available at support.toshiba.com/support/modelHome?freeText=1200009386 -- Click the "Drivers and Updates" tab and select the "Windows 8.1" and "Sound" filters to see the relevant drivers and utilities.

My wife needed a a new laptop for school so i got her this one. cause her father loved it so i got one for he to. She loves it does more then she needs and you can not bet the price.

Purchased this one for my senior mom, because her laptop was "crapping out". It's perfect for her! I have a similar product, but upgraded size/speed for work, etc which I purchased in November.

Because it doesn't have back light keys, if you compute in the dark you need a light to find the correct position. It is a machine of a computer in the price range it is in.

It is a nice size , but, still light weight. I like the number keyboard on the side so I don't have to use the function keys for numbers. The price was excellent and in my budget.
