However if you need it for work or school I'd suggest spending a little bit more on a better PC. This model only comes with and supports 4gb of RAM. It boots fast but once you're logged in you will notice that you can really only have one application at a time open, otherwise the computer lags severely. It comes installed with Windows 8.1 64 bit, which uses a minimum of 2 gb of RAM just to run.

4GB RAM should be plenty for casual computing needs, though we offer a broad product line all across the performance/feature/value spectrum.
Depending on how long you've had the unit, I wonder if Windows Update has been busy downloading & preparing updates for installation. That's often the case on brand new systems, and if so it will tax initial performance for a period of time when the system is brand new. You may want to run the Windows Update app to see what it's up to, if anything. If it has critical updates to install, I recommend having it complete that process ASAP and reboot when it's finished (even if not required) to see if performance has improved once that process is completed. I don't recommend letting Windows Update install any "optional" updates since those can overwrite drivers & utilities that are optimized for or by Toshiba. Optional updates can be installed via the Toshiba Service Station app or by visiting support.toshiba.com.
If the performance doesn't improve after Windows Update completes its process, I recommend performing a Windows Reset, which returns the product to factory condition. This will clarify if a software or configuration change may have introduced a problem. See the Toshiba Forums community knowledge base article and embedded video at forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/How-To-Understanding-System-Restore-Refresh-Reset-and-Recovery/ta-p/342690 for detailed instructions on performing a system recovery.
