Posted .Thank you for the review, Andy, and sorry to hear that your Satellite P55W required a warranty repair.
I have every expectation that you'll get many years of reliable service from it once the repair is completed. I hope you'll update your review once you've had an opportunity to use it for awhile.
Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

Fantastic laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It doesn't get much better than this laptop. I purchased this to replace my ailing P755, which has an older i7 and is pretty laggy at this point. The keyboard, processor, sound quality, and screen are all huge improvements. It also weighs a lot less and doesn't fry my lap while watching movies. I like that the finish doesn't pick up fingerprints and the backlit keyboard is a nice touch. The P755 does have a backlight but only on the touchpad and the Satellite logo, which is more obnoxious than functional. That being said, I originally purchased a customized version of the C70 from Toshiba Direct because this website told me none of my local stores carried it. Well, they do, and I wish I had gone to the store before I ordered it. The C series is a child's toy compared to this one. I never even booted it up - the touchpad and keyboard rattled right out of the box and I immediately called for an RMA. My only complaint is it doesn't have an optical drive, but I'm not going to fret about buying a relatively cheap external drive when the laptop is this nice. Windows 8 is not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I haven't had any issues with the wifi on this one, but I have had recurring issues with the wifi on the P755.

Posted .Thank you for the review, Marrecon, and sorry to hear that you are not happy with your Satellite Radius.
I'm guessing that your comments are mostly about Windows 8, since you mention "initial presentation". If this is your first experience with Windows 8, I think you'll find that it has all the power and utility of earlier releases along with some new features once you get familiar with it. (Feel free to bypass the Start screen and go straight to the Desktop, if that's your preference.)
Toshiba has some knowledge base articles and videos to help with the transition to Windows 8. Here are a few links that you may want to review:

yap!! finally bought it!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay! after months of research i found the laptop i liked. And finally convinced my mom to buy me this laptop. And when i saw the laptop i was waiting for months it was so cooll!! but the only thing i was disappointed was in the weight of the laptop. I mean i love the product but it's kind of heavy for me. I have to take it to college everyday and its kinda tough. other than that the product is awesome. with its all the features. It's super fast and even if i use it for like whole day non-stop it doesn't heat like other laptops. The keyboard is smooth. the design is nice and of course how can i forget the speakers.. The in built harman/kardon speakers "THE BEST". And the battery life 6-7 hrs. i mean that's the best u can get... Over all its the best product. and i'm glad i found u my toshiba.. ;)

Fast notebook with amazing display!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this notebook while it was on a daily special, so I got a great price, but I hadn't been able to see a display model. I am extremely pleased with it! Fast processor, extremely fast wireless, awesome display and the Dragon Assistant works great! The battery life is really good, too! Overall, I could not be more pleased with this purchase.

Too much Toshiba
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the hardware side of this machine - great design, bright screen, light weight, etc. BUT - I am not enjoying the preloaded Toshiba apps - why do manufacturers presume they need tp provide redundant software? Some of these apps are hard to uninstall, do not play well with other apps and generally detract from an otherwise enjoyable set up. Ask Best Buy to uninstall them to save you the frustration.

A hidden gem.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the umpteen different laptops I've owned over the years, Toshiba never disappoints. The P55W is nothing les than a superior laptop. Every once and few years Best Buy has a blow out deal with laptops, that seems almost too good to be true. When I saw this advertised in the new ad, I thought what a smoking deal and decided to take a chance. Not only was I was not disappointed, but l was blown away by how amazing this laptop is. This has got to be one of the finest built machines I've ever used, from the build quality, to the design, even the speakers are fantastic. The i7 makes it lightning fast on pretty much any program thrown its way, and the brightness and clarity on the screen are beautiful! To my surprise, the touchscreen works flawlessly without any lag or inaccurate touches. This is definitely the best laptop I've ever purchased, and I strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a new laptop.

You may want to review the following Toshiba Forums community Wi-Fi knowledge base articles for troubleshooting tips:

If none of the above articles helps, I recommend performing a Windows Reset, returning the product to factory condition, to resolve any potential software or configuration change issues. Be sure to first back up all personal files since the process will remove all data that has been saved on the primary storage after the unit left the factory.

Posted .Thank you for the review, JCP2015, and sorry to hear that you encountered some issues with your Satellite P55W.
Since I don't what symptoms you've experienced that led to your description of the screen, video card and hard drive being "broken down", I'll just recommend performing a Windows Reset to help clarify whether the problems might be related to software or configuration changes. See the Toshiba Forums community knowledge base article at forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/How-To-Understanding-System-Restore-Refresh-Reset-and-Recovery/ta-p/342690 for detailed instructions on how to perform a Windows Reset.
If the issues persist after the Windows Reset, please contact Toshiba support at 800-457-7777 for further help with diagnosis and, if needed, repair arrangements.
Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

Power House Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great performance even in eco mode, which I use. Screen is excellent, best speakers i've heard on a laptop, replaces a Dell Studio laotop that's several years old, Best Processer, Ram, HDD. I would buy another one if I needed to. Just keep a current backup for went things go bad. Macrium Reflect Free v5 is a great imaging software. If this laptop will last a long time, I'll be very happy!! ALso forgot to say, the battrey life is great.

Do not purchase this item, it is defective.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased this computer for school. It had good reviews and at first it worked great. Got a good value on it. However about a year in, the keyboard quit working. Turns out, after more detailed research, it is a known issue that the keyboard will stop functioning (usually after warranty is out). Toshiba is aware of this, but won't stand behind fixing it. We had to send it for repairs, and now the repairs are almost as much as the computer was to buy. Extremely disappointed with this product. Would not buy nor recommend, especially since the keyboard issue apparently has been going on a long time.

Great specs for the price but loud fan.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently bought this laptop for the great price of 699.99 at the time. I love how responsive the touch screen is and I love how you can also turn it into this giant tablet. The performance is great but like everybody else, the fans on this laptop are always on. Whether I'm doing minimal tasks; like surfing the web, watching Netflix or even writing this review. The FANS ARE ALWAYS ON. This is the second time i have exchanged it and i don't want to exchange it again because they're out of stock in my area and don't want to lose a great laptop. I also have an issue with the wifi that turns off and on every now and then. If there's a way to fix the fans or the wifi issue i would give this laptop 5 stars. But until then I'm a little disappointed. Toshiba has always been my brand because the satellite laptop was my very first laptop of my own when i was in high school. 7 years later i bought this laptop for school because my old one finally gave out and I just hope this one wont disappoint me.
