Defective product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked pretty well for a few months, then it wouldn't turn on. Brought it to Geek Squad, they had me send it off 4 different times and it broke a 5th. Went with a Dell after that. Yes, it broke 5 times - all the same issue, Best Buy wouldn't replace until unlucky break #5.

Excellent Laptop!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did a ton of research on 15 inch laptops, which was my need. I wanted the radius features to use the laptop as a presenter in tent mode and for entertainment. One thing I highly recommend is replacing the HDD with a solid state drive. I took off the back and replaced the the hdd with a ScanDisk 240gb solid state drive. Windows 8.1 only takes up about 38gb leaving plenty of room for my needs. The difference in speed was astounding. It now cold boots in 3 seconds! The battery lasts much longer also with an ssd. Battery life was awesome anyway!! There were concerns about the wifi but this model comes with the newer 7256 module which solves all the wifi issues. Have been using this thing for a month in work and home environment and it hasn't missed a beat. I run it in "eco" mode and charge it every other day. Highly recommend. Also, it goes on sale for $699 from time to time. Watch for the sale. Simply clone your new SSD to the HDD and then swap them out. If you do replace hdd, beware that there are two screws under both rear rubber feet. The rubber feet are attached with glue, but if you carefully pry them off without cracking, they go back on very easily. I used a credit card to pry off. When all screws are removed, just use fingernails to pry loose the back at a corner, then carefully run a finger or credit card around the edge to pop the other connectors. Also, there is a ribbon connector on the right side attached to the back, so carefully lift the back and lay over leaving the ribbon attached. The ribbon is long enough to lay the back aside. The HDD is in the upper back corner next to the hinge. Simply remove the rubber shock protecting flange, remove the screws and then slip out the HDD and replace with SSD, screws, and flange. Took about 10 minutes. Standard 2.5 inch SSD, Sata3 compatible. Caution, doing this might void your warranty but IMO, the improvement in speed is worth the risk.

Very good Laptop for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked up this laptop when it was on sale for around $700 during the holiday. That was a very good price. When I first got it wifi was not very good and laptop seemed slow. After downloading all the updates and going to the toshiba website and downloading latest wifi software the computer speed for both the wifi and the computer in general are very good. Don't just do the wifi driver update on the laptop because it will say it is current. Go to the Toshiba website and download the latest wifi software. Great price Best Buy.

Looks beautiful but the fan is a turnoff
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this as openbox for 30 dollars but it was Geeksquad certified so I Thought it would be okay. I was more than pleased with the performance and aesthetics but there were terribly loud sounds coming from the fan in the vent even if I'm not running anything in the background. I'm going to go the store soon to see if its only my model that has this fan issue

Great, only if you update wireless driver
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I spent hours in the store, playing around with the different laptops. Out of all of them, this is the laptop that seemed to fit my needs. Like a lot of the reviews about this product, there is an issue with connecting to Wifi. I called Geek Squad support so many times, but they couldn't find anything wrong. I got so frustrated, that I called Toshiba directly. It seems like they knew about this problem, because (for a fee) I could get the problem fixed. Since I only bought the laptop less than 2 months ago, I didn't do it, since I originally purchased Geek Squad support when I got the laptop. After repeatedly calling Geek Squad support, someone finally suggested that I go and update the wireless driver on Toshiba's website. As it turned out, my driver was outdated, and needed to be updated. It's been a little over a month since I downloaded the driver, and I have had no problems dropping the Wifi signal since!!!

Great Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this laptop a few weeks ago and it lives up to the excellent reviews. The conversion to a tablet or viewing computer is great and the battery life is amazing. The laptop also just seems well built, and the keyboard is a high end/Mac laptop feel to it. It also has great speakers compared to any laptop I've had. The only real problem with the laptop that I have is that it gets fingerprints on it easily using the touch screen, so you'll have to wipe it off fairly often. It goes on sale often, so when it does I would definitely recommend buying it.

Solid All Around Computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one fantastic solid laptop. Fast I7, 8 GB of ram, Touchscreen and I love the 2 in 1 flip around to tablet, speakers are very loud and good quality. I have not had any issues with the Wifi that several have mentioned. The only thing that I dislike is windows 8, hoping windows 10 will be an improvement. Just spend some time with it and you will figure your way around. But Toshiba hit a home run for all of this for only $699. Love the solid Aluminum body, and the bright light up back lit keyboard. Great for office to Netflix. I love it, just waiting on windows 10. Remember best buy has a 15 day return, try it out.

Excellent Laptop All-around
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm in the IT business...and sell many laptops to customers.....mostly Dells, as we are a Dell shop so to speak.... In the past, I've been a devoted Sony VAIO fan, and purchased my last VAIO just last year...15.6 Flip. Liked that laptop, but had numerous buggy issues.....and now, Sony is not in the laptop business. As I researched the Satellite Radius, I found one issue with the early models...WIFI/wireless. I was a bit reserved....about purchase. But the research and recent responses revealed that this issue was resolved in the latest versions of Satellite Radius. And as it was "On Sale" at Best Buy for $699....for an I7....hard to step past that value. I bought the unit last week..... And, after one weeks use, I have to say the unit is exceptional. The keyboard...for me...is excellent.....good tactile feel to keys, and great response. Trackpad is responsive..... I did see the slowness many observed with the HDD.... So, with the sale on SSD's at Best Buy this week.....256GB for $99.....it was a no-brainer to make that change. The laptop now seems instantaneous.....with everything I do. Boot up time is about 3-5....seconds..... Some complain about the screen brightness. I can say....that I believe the screen is, at its brightest, about 90% of the brightest screens you'll see.... So, I don't think this is a huge item in purchase decision. So far, battery holds as described....and with an SSD, that should continue. I have played a few YouTube videos....and the sound of the on board speakers is excellent...as to sound quality. The volume can be boosted to extremes, and although that's good for external speakers, it is a bit hard on the on board speakers at loudest point. Screen colors appear true. The Toshiba "Service Station" is spot on with regard to obtaining latest drivers, etc. and these install with ease. The only thing I may occasionally miss is the RJ45 network port... But this can be added via a USB. This brings us to the wireless network. As stated earlier, Toshiba had some issues with this item in the early versions of the laptop. In this model, the Intel AC 7265 is included, and works flawlessly.....absolutely no issues with WIFI. Finally, there's no heat noticeable...and....I can only hear a really low hum from the cooling fan.......had to hold my ear to the keyboard to hear..... The laptop looks good too..... I would recommend this to anyone....and only suggest watch for sale....it's now back to $849...

Just not sure
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this computer because I started a Photography business and I realized I needed an upgrade from my 5 year old Toshiba Satellite A665 i3 processor. Everyone said to buy an Mac but I just couldn't make myself spend triple what this one cost me (which was on sale for $749). I knew I loved Toshiba's from my previous one so I figured I'd basically buy top of the line for their laptops. I purchased this on a Sat....and here I sit on Wed night still debating on rather to keep it. I love many of the features but there's just some things I can't get around. Here's a few of them. - Dark/Dim Screen. I noticed immediately the screen was very dark and I can't use that to edit photos on. I ofcourse put the computer in High Resolution and turned the screen brightness all the way up. Still very dark. I went back to Best buy and spoke to sales associate who didn't understand what I was talking about until pulling up my photography webpage, where he then agreed that it was dark. He then showed me how to go into the Intel Graphics and adjust all my settings. I spent approx 60 mins adjusting all my colors (even grabbed my old Toshiba and matched the color adjustments to that, which didn't work). I then sat them side by side and adjusted until they looked simular. Phew that was done.....or so I thought. Then I start searching the web and go to the exact same sites. For some reason what is white on my old computer is a cream on my new one. (for instance the background of People.com). I'm not sure what more I can do to correct this, but I have to have a bright colorful screen to edit photos. I can say the resolution is AMAZING compared to my old one. -WIFI Connectivity isn't great. We noticed about 6 months ago my old laptop just wasnt staying connected to wifi anymore. Slowly it got worse and worse until it started disconnecting atleast 5 times within an hour. I assumed it was my laptop since the Xbox One, 3 cell phones and 3 tablets (not used at the same time) have never had an issue. Unfortunately the new Toshiba is still doing it....just not as frequently. Now it's about twice within an hour. I was told at Best Buy that was an easy fix if I wanted to get a wifi booster for approx $30 but I hate to do that on a new laptop. - My only other complain is not having an optical drive. I know not many use them anymore, but that's how I give my customers their photos is on a burned disc. I know I could do a flash drive (and maybe one day I will) but for now that is a costly route. I also like having the option of my kids watching movies on the laptop of plane rides. I did purchase an external optical drive for fairly cheap ($28) and it's very small but it's just something hanging there you have to worry about not dropping. Like I said there are many positives of this laptop, such as the speed, memory, graphics, touch screen, back lit key board, size, rotating option (Great to show clients my portfolio) and price, but I sit here wondering if I made the right decision. Any suggestions would be great.

Raging Machine After SSD Installation
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this machine brand new for $200 off of MSRP. The fifth generation Intel core i7, 8 GB RAM, and especially the Harmon-Kardon speakers are amazing. However, the slow 5400 RPM 1 TB HDD, while spacious, is a major performance bottleneck for the system. Further, the system's cooling fan constantly made a slightly higher than desirable volume noise when cooling the system as installed. Since I got the machine at a discount (well, I'd have probably done it even if I had not found the discount), I invested in a 500 GB Samsung 850 EVO solid state drive. I used Macrium Reflect to clone the stock HDD to the SSD after initial startup and windows update. The cloning process took approximately 30 minutes. After cloning, I installed the SSD. . After swapping the drives and reassembling, I booted the laptop. BAM--it reaches the windows 8.1 login screen in 2-3 s. Every program opens instantaneously. Chrome, IE, Word, PP, Excel, Skype for Desktop, paint, snipping tool, photoshop, Netflix, etc. all can be opened faster than you can move your mouse from one icon to the next. It is truly a monster to behold with a good SSD in place. Further, even with my system optimized for max SSD performance with Samsung Magician software, I still get 5-6 hours battery life. And the fan makes a LOT less noise as cooling as is not as necessary as it was with the HDD. The complaints you will read about this systems wireless performance are completely valid. When I purchased the machine, I was still using a Comcast modem/router Gateway device. While paying for 75 mbps, I would get 30 mbps while standing directly next to the router, and the signal would drop off to 2 mbps when I rounded a corner. Fortunately, I had just made an investment in a Linksys WRT1900AC dual band wireless 802.11ac router. The true wireless performance of this device is found when connecting to a strong 5.0 GHz router channel. After installing the Linksys WRT1900AC, I reach 70-90 mbps in every corner of my two story, 2600 square foot townhouse. I strongly recommend this laptop in conjunction with a good SSD. i7 processor + SSD + 8 GB RAM = unbelievable performance.

Excellent laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Toshiba Satellite delivers what has been written by reviewers. It's met my expectations and is a huge upgrade from any I've used previously. Keyboard is sensitive and took some getting used to.. Be careful - the touch pad is so sensitive that if you barely touch it while typing you will get sent to another screen that's open. Love the memory and storage. Being totally wireless was shocking but it's the way of today's world. But it you feel the need for cable connections, beware. I use a wireless mouse and had to buy a wireless printer. And I had to have the 10-key, so this was the computer for me!

Perfect Fit for Specs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are shopping by matching specifications with what you want, this is your computer. I shopped/reviewed for two weeks before I bought the HP Spectre x360 which was a great machine, however the screen was too small for my needs. I returned and went with this Toshiba. Every component on this set-up delivers as advertised including the battery. I would prefer the option for double the RAM, but when I watch the Task Manager while opening every possible thing I may need to have open in my day-to-day plus some HD Youtube I never use more than 40% of the available 8GB of RAM. Cons: This is a first class laptop in every way, however the hinge is not as high end as the previously mentioned HP meaning you see the hinges and the screen will shake a little bit when you touch it in laptop or vertical positions. Also, a solid state drive (SSD) would be an upgrade that I would have purchased with the opportunity, but the savings with this model affords you to do that after purchase if you want. I am waiting to upgrade to the SSD however because the 1 TB HDD is performing just great. I am convinced that this is by far the best laptop with these specs at this price. BTW, Optical drives (CDROM,...) are as dead as the fax machine, so unless you use them frequently already you will not miss having one. I personally haven't used a CD/DVD/BD in years. Good Luck.

Great product, great price for variety of uses!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had some very specific needs, looking for a laptop/tablet that used Windows 8 (thus needing a touchscreen for ease of use) and had quick processing for various video editing needs. This computer had it all! 8 GB memory, i7 processor, 1 TB hard drive . . . it was perfect! I was excited to find it for such a good price, too. So, upon receiving it, I started to play around with it (having only used a Surface 2 prior, the only touchscreen I have ever had). I was amazed at its ease, its functionality, everything it included, and the speed with which I was able to quickly access my files off of One Drive to continue working on current projects. This was exactly what I needed within my budget and has proven (thus far) to fit my uses perfectly!

Toshiba satellite radius B5112
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop on sale about two weeks ago and kept it for about four days. During that time I was able to figure out windows eight and it actually performed quite well, the i7 processor was fast and the keyboard responsive. However, because it's a two in one when you put it in the normal laptop position the screen starts to fall backwards as it does not lock into position. When I put it in the tent position the picture was upside down. I had to keep looking up how to use the various features as no manual came with it. Just the very basics to set it up. I could not find a solution to these problems. On the fourth the day the keyboard locked up and I could not get into my email. I did a factory reformat and took it back. At the original retail price I certainly would not recommend this until they fix the issue with the screen. It should lock into place somehow. Being able to use it as a tablet and in the other various positions is great but it needs some fine-tuning.

Fantastic laptop for the price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop when it was $700, and I couldn't be happier. The sheer power output is enough to justify the price, and the added benefit of the insanely good battery life just adds to it. The speakers are shockingly good, and the ability to turn into a table is surprisingly useful, too. I'm student teaching, and this laptop makes writing lesson plans and unit plans quick and painless.

Lightweight Powerful 2-in-1 Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The price of this 2-in-1 laptop has dropped $100 from $850 now. It's fast with the Intel I7 CPU (5th Generation) with touch screen. It's a good choice if you're looking for a lightweight laptop that can be treated like a tablet, and if you don't need a DVD reader/burner.

Best Laptop for the price..Well worth it !!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop 3 weeks ago and I couldn't be happier...To make this screaming fast I switched the 1tb hard drive for a Samsung 840 ssd 500Gb and now it only takes 4 seconds to boot up or shutdown...Thought of getting the same with the 4k screen but the fact that everything looked much smaller and it was $400 more made me decide for this one. The size of the keyboard with the side number pad backlighted is very convenient. Would definetely recommend this computer...I shopped and looked for a better deal based on the same specs at $699 and couldn't find it...Loving it !

Good laptop but ridiculously loud fan!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a really promising laptop, but the fan is ridiculously loud especially when used in any other mode aside from regular laptop stand. As soon as I fold the screen back the fan starts making a very loud annoying noise. I'm very disappointed with this hardware flaw! If the fan would be quieter, I would absolutely love this laptop.
