I had a Lynksys router that had extreme output and was also MU-MIMO, but I have high tech home and I am always adding more tech. So, I needed something that has great output and can handle more connections, like WIFI 6 can do. I also needed 8 Ethernet ports for all of the hubs. I also have about 28 connected devices like Apple TV, Rohu, 4 TV's, game console, Hue lights, cell phones, computers, iPads, etc. This things cranks out great speed. I am limited by my service at 400 mbs, These same speeds are throughout my first floor and reaching 200 on the second fl of a 3000 sq ft home. No lag, no buffering on any streaming device. I don't need a WIFI extender as well. This is my first TP-Link since I has ASUS and Linksys before. The ratings are quite high in comparison tests and they are accurate. This is easy to use and setup as well. I could not find a mesh system with that many Ethernet ports. That is why I am using this great router.

Bought this router to upgrade my home network. I had good experience with my TP Link Archer C7, which now serves as a WiFi extender. Set up was easy - I used the tether app mostly. Love the built in speed test, parental controls and security features. Instantly saw a jump in speeds over the C7 from 250 mbps to 350. It’s a big router but it fits on the shelf where my old router sat. It’s only been a day but I’m feeling good about the upgrade.

On a wifi6 device I got the same speed as wiring it directly. I came from a n600 so this was a huge upgrade. So non wifi6 devices did see a boost also but again I upgraded from n600.

It was very easy to set up and the Tehter app is awesome, you can log directly into the router from the app to adjust your channel frequencies, which i needed to do for my surreond sound. Overall I’m very happy with this router.

Router speed and coverage are great in my 1400 square feet home. Setup and instructions were great. Like the mesh capabilities. Works well with same brand wifi extender. Overall pleased with purchase and the price was right.

Probably the best coverage I've ever had with a Consumer level router and great throughput. I have had issues with it recognizing our very high speed internet connection and had to manually set the wan port to gigabit or it will default to lower speeds. I wish TPLink would update the firmware more often but other than that it has been a good performer.

I have returned this router within BestBuy's return window. The Good: Router performance was awesome, reached corners of ~4000sq house and a detached garage without issue. Easy to use, very fast, handled upper 30 devices with 4 kids streaming class work (streaming Microsoft Teams and Zoom), teacher wife doing virtual teaching one day a week and me working from home. The Bad: WAN Port would randomly go to "unplugged" / "disconnected" depending on where you looked (iOS app or Webpage). When problem occurred, all devices would still connect to the Archer but the Archer would not connect to the AT&T provided router (1GB Fiber Arris BGW210-700). Note this AT&T router has been in use for months and has been feeding my pre-wired house (only bypassing it to get better WiFi range). Regardless, I swapped cables, put a dumb switch between the Arris and the Archer but problem remained. Contacted TP-Link Support and really didn't get that far (was told to force 1GB Full Duplex or 100MB Full Duplex). Didn't think a 4 day old router should require that. Unplugged the WAN port and plugging back in (either side) did not resolve, had reboot or power-off the Archer. I really did like this router and wanted it to work, but after having problems and seeing other reviews with similar issues (some reviews indicated worked great for months then WAN port failed). I decided to return and go with a different brand.

I had limited reception in my 2000 sq ft ranch style home. I lived with it for a couple of years and made it work. Devices worked smoothly near the router. Times are different and I needed stronger signal everywhere. This arrived. I downloaded the phone app and had it working in minutes. Took a few more minutes to sign-in to different devices with new network. Holy smokes. I had no idea what I was missing. Everything ran fast everywhere. I thought some of my devices were slow, but it was the wifi. This is how it is supposed to work. Very happy. Best part, the app from my phone lets me see current and recent use of all devices - good to know what my kids are up to at night...

Before my internet loose signal every single day on peek hours (4:00 - 6:00 pm) and now is faster than ever. I have spectrum 200mbps and now is almost half of fast. Plus it has parental control and home care protection. Good price for all features it has.

I bought this router when it first came out, and to be honest it was a little flakey. Certain devices couldn't connect, mostly older 802.11b devices. Some would drop wifi connections for no reason. However, the firmware upgrades over the ensuing months have fixed all that and I now have a rock solid router. With my old router I had to run an Ethernet cable to get my Apple TV 4K to actually stream 4k content, but now I can do it wirelessly with this router. Solid streams, no dropouts, it keeps up with my Gigabit Internet really well. Consistently ~300 Mbps with local streams. My house is old (built in 1953) so the walls/insulation are not the greatest, but this thing shoots signals through three walls and into the back yard with ease. I don't have a zillion IOT devices and usually have ~20 things connected at any given time (TV, Apple TV, light bulbs, mobile devices, etc.) and haven't had a problem in months. If you get this router, update the firmware immediately and you should be good to go. Other plusses: * 8 ethernet ports (that's a lot!) * excellent web-based config with lots of options, but basic options up-front for simple setup * cool little mobile app you can use for setup * both USB type A and C ports for mounting media Minuses: * it's physically big * web config app not compatible with Safari. What?!?

TP-Link Outlasts all Netgears and Asus Routers

I see all the bad reviews on this router. Let me say first I have always wondered why routers seem to be junky after a few months, I never had that issue with TP-Link and the speeds that come from them has always been far above what others offer. I have Gigabit Speeds and this router as other TP-Link routers have outdone all Netgears, Asus and Linksys Routers I have tried. I have tried all of the pro gamer models as I only buy higher end routers. This router has been outstanding as normal! No complaints! Gives me the range I need and give me the speed I pay for! Listen to someone that has spent a lot of time getting mad and upset with expensive junk to only be let down! Give TP-Link a shot. You will not be disappointed! Remember a router only gives you the speed that is at the Ethernet cable, it will not increase a slow speed. You have to have speed at the wire before the router and I think that is most of peoples issues with bad reviews. If you do not have the correct speeds contact your cable/dsl/Gig provider and make them fix the connection before you complain. Its that simple.

Had for a month now, no issues. Was easy to setup. Needed it to hardwire several accessories upstairs and needed updated router as old one was 15+ years old. Also setup with switch I put downstairs so I could hardwire more accessories. Works great with 2 people working from home, camera system, gaming system, smart tv's, etc.

For being more of a "lesser known brand", this router does a fantastic job. It does not throttle the speeds like some other routers do, and both bands of the wifi signal reach throughout our home (2500+ square foot).

I have 1Mbs internet service, replaced the router from my service provider with this one and have been thrilled with the result. Theirs was not Wi-Fi6. I have a 2400 sq ft home, speeds are much higher in all rooms. Wi-Fi seems to me much more consistent as well. Highly recommended. Was also extremely easy to set up. Since my ISP only allows 1 MAC ID, it prompted me to change the MAC ID of this unit so I didn't even have to contact my ISP about the change.
