The plug is smarter than him and will shut off easier than having to reach behind the dresser to find the cord that the switch is on.

I use it to turn on my fan at night when i go to bed and already under the covers.

I found it a little confusing (because I didn't read the instructions) to find the app (It's called Kasa) instead of TP Link.
