remote switch for hard to reach location
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got burned before on an insignia remote switch which worked fine, until it was no longer supported and became, well just a switch. So, was hesitant, but this one works flawlessly and was super easy to install.

Great product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had this professionally installed (kinda sorta - a close friend is an electrician). It took him 5 minutes, would've taken me a half hour. Works exactly as advertised. Set up with the app and integration into my Google Home environment was SIMPLE! I use it for the switch that controls my outside lighting. It's nice to be able to say "Hey Google - Turn on the outside lights" as I get to my street and pull into a well lit driveway.

SWITCH WORKS FINE/EASY SETUP
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first TP Link single pole switch purchase. I did purchase a TP Link 3 way switch a few months ago. Both switches worked fine and were easy to install. The single most important issue I can state is that you must have a neutral wire (usually a white group of terminated wires) for these switches to function. I had poor success with a competitor`s switch before trying and succeeding with TP Link. WiFi kept dropping with the competitor's and had to be reset/rebooted often.

Much better than smart bulbs
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using the switches for 4 years now and they simply work. Working with electrical can be intimidating at first, but it's really not complicated. Most wires are color coded, easily labeled, and just use twist caps to connect. I much prefer these to smart bulbs, particularly when there's many bulbs involved. Watch a YouTube vid of installation to get comfortable with it, then but this switch. I've installed about 8 now and never had an issue.

Great products from Kasa TP Link
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I LOVE all the automation I get with the whole line up Kasa TPLink products. I have the light bulbs, the outlet plugs, the power surge protector/ power strip and now the light switches. Next will be the wired outlet plugs! Makes life so easy to control what you want from anywhere! Best investment for me!

Great smart home switch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great smart home switch from TP-Link. Easy step-by-step process, with pictures, guides you throughout the installation. Must update the firmware after installation in order for everything to work. After the update everything worked as advertised. I'm able to control the switch at home using my Google home mini or remotely using my phone. If you prefer to manually use the switch you can do that too. The only feature I want to see implemented in the future is to be able to use this on a two-way or three-way switch. I highly recommend this product.

A Good, Affordable Smart Switch
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought one of these based on the reviews I had seen after I decided that I was tired of getting out of bed at night to turn off the light. I haven't regretted it. Initially, I decided I'd get one for our bedroom, the kids bedroom, and our living room. It has since expanded to pretty much every switch in the house now. It amazing how quickly one can get spoiled to the convenience of having these. They are *way* cheaper than the next wi-fi based smart switch that doesn't require a hub. I was able to able to get 3 of these for roughly the same cost of some of the other brands, They work well and they integrate into Amazon Alexa & Google Home with no Issues. TP-Link has been around for a while in my experience they generally make good devices. Like most smart devices you have to download their app for the set up on your smart phone. The switches will work when your Internet goes down but they basically revert to being "manual" switches. They require a 2.4Ghz wi-fi connection to use. Installation requires a very basic level of wiring. The connections for these are all done with wire nuts (which are included). Older homes may need to have additional wiring done to use these as they require a "neutral" wire for hookup. If you are at all uncomfortable working with electrical wiring or worried about electrocuting yourself, then call an electrician or look at Smart Lightbulbs as an alternative. If the idea of this doesn't bother you and you are looking for a neutral wire free option, take a look at the Lutron Caseta switches. Be forewarned though, they cost about 3 times the amount these do. A couple things to be aware of with these. These only come in a white color. They come with a snap on wall plate, 4 wire nuts and basic installation instructions. The connections are for "Ground", "Neutral", and the two "Hot" switch leg connections. Depending on your existing switches/home wiring, you may need or want some additional wire nuts or wire. Additionally, while they have a small metal plate to use as a ground to the gang box I would recommend still using the attached ground wire, which means you may also need some ground pigtail wires (which come with a screw to attach to the gang box the switch resides in). The switches can be a little tricky to get to fit into the gang box with all of your existing wire and the wire nuts as they are a little bulky (or at least bigger than your average wall switch). They are in line with most of the wi-fi smart switches size wise. A few more things with these... There is an audible click of the relay in the switch when turned on or off. It also takes a little getting used to always pushing on the down side of the switch to turn them on or off. This doesn't bother me or my family, but it's something to be aware of. There is no dimming with these. It's a basic switch. It's on or or it's off. With that though, you can use it with pretty much whatever lightbulbs you want. Out of the 6+ of these I have bought so far I had only one malfunction and need to be returned. The wi-fi couldn't pair to anything, it worked for a while and then just stopped. I tried resetting it, reconfiguring it, and cycling the breaker, it was just not talking to anything. It's replacement worked right away with no issue. The replacement switch also needed a firmware update which was done automatically with no issues by the app on my phone once I answered "yes" to the update. The app allows for some basic automation, and hooking up to Amazon or Google adds a fair amount of integration type options. I've since set our living room lights to turn on an half an hour before dusk so we're no longer sitting in the dark debating about getting up to turn on the light like we used to. Overall, we've been very happy with these and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to someone else as a relatively inexpensive way to add a little more "smart" into their lives.

Switches are the way to go
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought into the TP Link smart home system, so this was a natural purchase. In our house, we have several rooms where power for one of the outlets is tied to the light switch - intended for lamps when there is no ceiling light. We put a smart bulb in the lamp, but for it to work the way it should the light switch needed to be on all the time. And of course guests would use the switch to turn the light off... creating a constant hassle (first world problems). The switch eliminates that hassle. It works great.
