The TP-Link Tapo TC73 Pan/Tilt AI Wired Security Camera is a standout product in the world of home security. Boasting impressive features, this camera offers peace of mind and advanced functionality at an affordable price. One of the standout features is its AI capabilities. The camera's AI recognition system is incredibly accurate, distinguishing between humans, pets, and random motion. This reduces false alerts, ensuring you're only notified when it truly matters. The pan and tilt functionality enables you to keep a watchful eye on your entire space, with a 360-degree horizontal rotation and 114-degree vertical range. Installation is a breeze, thanks to the straightforward setup process and the user-friendly Tapo app. The app provides remote access to your camera, allowing you to check on your home from anywhere. It also supports two-way audio, making it easy to communicate with family members or pets when you're away. The image quality is sharp and clear, with 1080p resolution. Night vision performance is impressive too, offering detailed surveillance even in complete darkness. The camera also supports microSD cards, providing local storage for your video footage. What truly sets the TP-Link Tapo TC73 apart is its affordability. It offers premium features that rival more expensive competitors. While it doesn't offer cloud storage, the option for local storage, along with its cost-effective pricing, makes this a fantastic value. This camera alerted me of people in my home while I was at work and was able to respond and keep my dogs safe! This is a huge need for all homes for security reasons!

A great camera with some minor things missing

I have become a fan of TP-Link wireless products because the user experience has been smooth and easy. The Tapo TC73 Pan / Tilt camera continues this trajectory and is a great surveillance camera, especially at this price point. One comment first: the title of the product says "Wired Security Camera". When I see "wired" I think that means it needs to be connected by Ethernet cable directly to a central hub, but this camera is wireless and stands alone. That tripped me up at first. I guess they mean that it does not run on batteries but needs a wired power source (provided). The camera tilt/pan capabilities are smooth and silent and provide a nearly 360 degree rotation and 90 degree up angle. I can see people using this to monitor pets while away with the ability to look around further. But even without the pan/tilt the camera has a fairly wide viewing angle. The TP-Link Tapo app is very easy to use and setup. I like the fact that the Tapo app allows other TP-link products, such as the older Kasa cameras, to be incorporated into one app. The camera has impressive night vision capabilities. There is a mode for wider, larger shots that are further away with a brighter IR light source, and a mode for smaller rooms with a dimmer IR light source. But one of the things TP-Link missed on this is the ability to completely turn off the IR/night vision mode. For my use case that is important. I would have given 5 stars if not for the inability to turn off the IR light.

I am already a fan on this brand and it did not disappoint. The camera for what it is could be easily one of the top non-professional camera's available. The apps just work and the performance is above average. I use this brand for my WIFI and this performs very well. They thought of all the concerns one would have like security and usability. Security is great for both if you just want to disable the camera so it does not record or you don't want your feed to be compromised. Of course there are always ways around things but for the normal home user, security is covered well. I have had a comparable camera before that just did not hold up over time. I really feel like this brand and implementation hits the sweet spot to be relevant for many years to come. The only real caveats that I found were that it needs to be near an electrical outlook which at least it won't run out battery power, the SD card can only be up to 512GB which is not small but not the same as set it and forget about it either. I will be looking cameras from this brand as I replace my home security system in the future.

    Great for Kids room Monitor

This Tapo camera is just what we needed for when our grandkid's spend the night with us. They are 2 and 3 years old and sleep in the same room. The room is down the hallway from us so I wanted to make sure I heard them if they woke up in the night and be able to see them if needed. The camera was super easy to set up and connect to our wifi. The pan/tilt mode allows me to move the camera around so I can see the whole room and both kiddos. I love that the camera has a 2 way built in microphone/speaker so that I can talk to my grandkids through the camera - "go to sleep my loves". The night vision works great when the room is dark while my grandkids are sleeping allowing me to still be able to have a good view of them. I anticipate that I will use that camera for other uses other than a monitor for my grandkids....maybe to watch my dog when we are away from the house. The camera comes with a 2 year warranty and 24/7 Tech support. I'm very pleased with the quality of this camera and give it 2 thumbs up!

Bugged camera. The only one special.

This is a bugged camera. It has an led light. I turned it off in the app. It turns back on by itself. Do not buy. This was the "ONLY ONE LEFT SPECIAL". While viewing live you can hear people in the background talking. That aren't in your home. Returning.

      Hi,

Thank you for your review. The Status LED on the camera can be conveniently disabled via the Tapo app. In your case, please ensure the camera's firmware is fully up to date, and that it is receiving stable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal from your router. The Status LED will still alert you of a network connection issue when toggled Off.

If the camera's microphone is positioned in an area where ambient noise or reverberation can cause audio distortion, some sounds may sound "thin" or "muffled", depending on the sound source.

Our support team is always happy to help answer any questions you may have about our products. Please feel free to reach out using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.
