I wanted to give a smart plug a try for all of my holiday decor and lighting. Historically I have used a semi manual timer outlet or one that would sense darkness for my lights and inflatables. The downside would be that unless I ran multiple extention cords to multiple outlets it was all on or nothing on. There are times when I would enjoy having my lights on but wouldnt want my inflatables inflated. This is where this plug comes in handy. Unlike many other options, this plug has 2 outlets that can be controlled independently from anywhere in the house. This does need to be connected to wifi in order to be controlled. While I may not have my lights up yet, I did test this with my halloween inflatables. It is convenient being able to turn the decor on and off without having to go outside. The app was fairly simple to set up. I did however have several instances during set up where the app froze, one time to the point where I had to start the process over again which was a little frustrating. Once set up, the app seamed to run just fine. One other negitive I would like to point out on the app is that it requires you to turn off power saving mode on your phone. I religiously use that mode as my baby monitor and a few other apps can be draining. Another thing to point out is the way they request you orient the plug; 12 inches from the ground and mounted to the wall. This was tough for us to accommodate due to the location of our outdoor plug being so low and on a brick wall. The plug did however come with a bracket, screw and anchor- we just didnt feel it was best to drill the brick to brace a plug.

I have had such a hard time pairing outdoor plugs to my smart home. This is one of the fist Matter certified outdoor plugs. The difference is clear. I was able to easily pair the device with Apple Home and Alexa without needing the manufacturer’s app. Fast and easy.

Set up was a nightmare! Lights came on as soon as I plugged them in, disregarding start time. Never shut off at end time. Two other family members tried to figure it out and couldn't. Dont waste your time. These are being returned today.
