      With extenders placement is everything. They must be placed in an unobstructed areas that if between the router and where you want service extended and has a strong signal from the router. Extenders can only provide what they receive.

    I have it set up at the closest outlet to the router, about 25 feet away, and I can’t get a connection. It’s about halfway between my router and the firestick. Not much else I can do?

    Could not get extender to find my 5g network (did fine with the 2G). Had a software engineer (whom I know) try to install it. She found the same problem . Returned the product.

    It works, but the standby power usage can't be good. It's very warm to the touch so I returned it. Standby power usage is not shown in the specs.

    Disappointing product that gave no improvement

    Had to return it as it didn't successfully extend the WiFi signal to a lower level in a split level home, which is why it was purchased. I ended up purchasing the ROKU Streaming Stick 4K [with extended long-range WiFi] and that greatly improved the WiFi speed in the lower level.

    Ethernet port did not work consistently

    I had to return it because the ethernet (LAN) port would not work consistently. It would connect to the internet and then disconnect and then connect back again. My home internet was working fine fine for all other devices connected to the internet, including my work laptop. I exchanged it for a Netgear and all is working well now.

If you were using the RE505X in Range Extender Mode and the Ethernet port was used for connecting a wired device to your LAN, please note that the extender's quality of Wi-Fi signal connection from your router will determine the stability and speed of the Ethernet port.

    Worked great for a few days then started disconnecting every few minutes. It became completely unstable. Very disappointing.

    Internet speed dramatically dropped

    I teated the speed with thos router and was only getting 50mbps while connected directly to my router o was gwtting 150mbps.

    Extremely overrated and overpriced. I bought this to help with my Wi-Fi in my house. It doesn’t seem to make any difference and I seem to have more issues with the Wi-Fi connection now. I should have returned it right away but wasn’t able to l I would not recommend this at all.

      Use Ethernet? Can you elaborate? If you are using the product in AP mode, absolutely Ethernet is needed, because in AP mode the extender has to be physicality connected to the router. But in RE mode the extender's ethernet port is for a client and is optional. tplink

    I set up an appointment for installation tomorrow and suddenly - without any explanation at all - the installation appointment was cancelled. I arranged my schedule for this instillation, sent a confirmation text and then - boom - I'm not coming. That is unprofessional and seriously disrupts my valid expectations for excellent service. Causes me to wonder why I should pay for Total Tech.
