Love these 20lb Tru Grit dumbbells for home workout, especially with all the gyms closed down right now. The rubber coating is extremely helpful because it won't damage your floors as much as metal would, so you don't necessarily need to buy something extra to set them on. They have a nice grip, although they do get a little slippery if you have sweaty hands. If you have a pair of workout gloves they would solve this. They do have a strong smell out of the box but that's normal and it goes away after a few days. If you have the ability, I recommend leaving them in the garage or basement for 2-3 days so they can air out. Overall, these are great and I recommend them to anyone looking to workout at home!

Unfortunately lingering rubber smell that’s worse than expected. We tried to soak it two different times in vinegar ... no help. Buyer beware.

Just like the dumbbells at commercial gyms.

These are just like the dumbbells you’ll find at commercial gyms. The rubber is well formed and durable. There’s a strong rubber smell at first, but that’s normal for rubber coated free weights and will gradually dissipate over use/time. The handle is a straight bar made out of strong steel with good grip etching. There’s enough space between ends for even the largest hands and they seem well balanced while doing flyes. I know they’re built to last, because FedEx demolished the box they were in, but the dumbbells still look mint. I can’t find any fault with them. If you want the same dumbbells you used at the commercial gyms, you’ll be happy with these.

Weights may seem like a simple product but given that barbell weights have been very difficult to find in stores since COVID hit, they are indeed a very popular item. I looked for months trying to find any barbell weights in sporting goods stores. These 20 lb. weights from Best Buy came quickly. I checked them on a scale and the weight is very accurate. The construction is similar to those other rubber-coated barbells, maybe a shade better. These are a great addition to my home gym and I will keep with this brand as I expand out my barbell set..

    Great Value for Great Weights

Finding weights in the COVID-19 era is near impossible. Especially finding weights for a decent price. I received 2 of the 20lb dumbbells, and I weighed them on the scale, right on the money at 20 lbs. The grip is great, very nice texture on it, no slippage, and the rubberized hex material of the weight allows the weight to not roll around on the floor and stay put and it being rubber, not damage your floors. What can I say, it's a great weight!

Well built/well balanced rubber coated dumbbells

The Tru Grit dumbbells are well built as well as well balanced. These are easy to hold and not slip due to sweating due to the grip marks but some with tender hand might find those to feel rough on their hands. The rubber coating keeps from scratching my tile floor and also makes it easier to handle. The hex design also keeps the dumbbell from rolling on the tile as well. The grip is fixed and does rotate so it does not slide around in your hand. Good product.

These dumbbells are no different than any other rubber hex types I’ve seen and used before, which is to say they are exactly as good as I imagined they would be and appear that they will last a long time and look and feel like new with minimal care. They are well constructed and look good. The handles are just the right size and have a lot of texture to them, and the rubber is thick and even. I like them and will eventually add more to my set.

I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased review, and it'll be short. Tru Grit's Hex Rubber-Coated dumbbells are terrific. They don't roll away, they don't mark your floor horribly if you drop them as long as it's an impact-resistant flooring material, the metal grips in the handles don't tear your hands to shreds and are easy to clean, and they're free weights which is the best kind of exercise weights to use.

Be warned, people post pictures of two Dumbbells but for $187 you receive (1). It’s extremely misleading and disappointing. For anyone else interested please read thoroughly before purchasing!

First off, when did Best Buy begin selling non-gadgety (is that a word?) gym equipment? Given that gyms aren’t open in several parts of the country, we’ve all had to seek alternative methods to stay in shape. Sitting in front of the tube while in quarantine doesn’t just expand your midsection, it also results in muscle loss and brain cell deterioration. These Tru Grit 20lb Hex Rubber Coated Dumbbells provide a solution to at least one of those issues. They are absolutely gym quality equipment, built to withstand regular, extensive usage. The dumbbells are solidly constructed, and are rubber coated to limit damage to surface areas. In my case, we have hardwood floors in our townhouse, and the rubber coating prevents the scuffing of my pristine floors (which prevents my wife from using one of the weight on my skull). These dumbbells are a more practical solution to an oversized, overpriced and underused exercise machine. Dumbbells allow you do perform several exercises to help you maintain muscle during your downtime from your Netflix binge sessions. The Tru Grit dumbbells are the real deal and will last for as long as you want them to. Highly recommended.

One of the great finds in this pandemic is scarce weightlifting equipment! I was fortunate, my husband has always worked out at home, so we had several sets of dumbbells, but not 20 pound ones. He has a set of those adjustable ones, too big and too much trouble for me. I like to be able to drop down if I want while I’m in the middle of working out. I had to get used to working out at home, so I like to keep my eye open for adding equipment. These hex head dumbbells are so much better than the plain iron hex head ones we already have. The handle is somewhat shaped for your hand, there are already several pictures posted, so I won’t be redundant and add more, but it makes it feel like the weight isn’t as heavy as it is. A straight grip feels heavier. I weighed these weights, both were 19.8 on my scale, that is within the acceptable range for a 20 pound weight. The dimensions are 12.25” long, 5.25” width, and the handle is approx. 5” long between the ends of the dumbbell. Hex head dumbbells are my favorite because you can do renegade rows with them, using them as grips in your hand, and they don’t roll away. And it is easy to hold one with both hands. The handle grip has cross-hatching so it has some grip in your hand. I wear gloves but it still helps keep the dumbbell in my hand without slipping. These are black rubber dumbbells, and yes they smell like it. It takes a while to get rid of the smell, but it does go away eventually. The rubber is better for your floors, and should hold up for a long time.

These are a great pair of weights. Very comfortable in your hand, feels well made and of high quality. I feel that you get everything you want in dumbbells. Due to how it’s made you won’t have to worry about them rolling around on the floor when you put them down. You won’t be disappointed.

I would not have thought of having dumbells in the house except when these weights arrived. First of all, they are of good quality. The grip is just right (I have small hands) while the hold on the bars are comfortable. The weights are "soft"-- they are made of high quality rubber. I usually do my reps in front of the TV where the flooring is wood and can be noisy. But I don't worry about these scratching my floors. And I also do not worry about them scratching me! Even the metal ones get edges when used a lot, and they can give cuts-- these ones I do not have to worry about. These dumbbells are a great addition to my home equipment, especially with the upcoming lockdowns. I recommend, especially to those who work out on upper floors!

Great dumbbells in the style that you would find at any gym. Rubber hex ends means no loud clanking. Grips are comfortable. I know alot of people may complain about the price. Dumbbells are expensive at baseline. Shipping 20 lb weights are expensive. Iron is expensive. However, this has definitely been exacerbated by the pandemic. The pandemic premium is due to the supply shortage while being accompanied by an increased demand. That being said, retailers are (should be) cheaper than resellers. The price also varies alot day by day. For people who need to work out at home but don't want to risk coronavirus, this is a price to pay. I would encourage people to compare online!

This is a really nice set of dumbbells. The hand grip area is quite comfortable and a good fit for med to large hands. If you have really small or really large hands they might not be a good fit. The rubber heads seem to be robust and durable.
