The volume running through the amp is very low with no punch. Could possibly be fixed with update, but as is right now it’s unusable.

The Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 gaming headset is a great setup for Xbox. First off It looks and feels of quality. It has a metal headband with huge 50mm speakers. I like that the mesh in the speakers are see through and you can see these awesome drivers. Overall comfort is great with memory foam ear cushions, there is even a slot in the ear cushions for those who wear glasses. The mic sounds really good and clear, it is soft yet rigid enough when you bend it, it stays in place and contours to pretty much any shape. Now for the sound. Make sure you update the firmware for the headset and super amp. Initially when I plugged in the headset I thought the overall volume at max was pretty low. After a firmware update I did notice the volume got louder. Now for some people who play games with the sound blasting this may not be enough for them. As for me this is plenty, and let me talk about the sound quality, the Elite Pro 2 sounds great, audio is clear and crisp and just enough bass. I can hear footsteps and sounds in the game all around. Very good. I like the operation of the Super amp with its lighted volume dial, it looks cool. There is also a companion app that you can adjust setting with. Overall I would recommend the Elite Pro 2 if you are looking for a new headset.

Excellent Headsets caught in a Time Warp

What year is it? Its 2019, are you willing to accept an expensive $200+ gaming headset that is ONLY wired without a wireless USB option? That's really my only beef with this otherwise excellent Elite Pro 2 gaming Headset. For those that don't know, Turtle Beach has a long and distinguished pedigree in gaming sound going back to their Turtle Beach Montego Bay A3D sound cards that many still swear by today as the best that ever was for PC gaming. These headsets don't disappoint in terms of quality, although presentation is a bit disjointed overall. The outside packaging doesn't quite give off that super premium feel, but once you pull out the black and silver embossed packaging you start getting those premium goosebumps. Then back to questionable with just a rubber insert with the rest of the components hidden behind it in a compartment. No slick magnets and secret unfolding compartments here sorry. On to the actual important stuff. The headset is built incredibly well, with a steel suspension arch with wire guided memory foam head band. The earpads are soft and inviting while substantial, a heavy duty memory foam of maybe 3/4" covered by a wonderful soft fine mesh earpad covering that does not seem to sweat or gather skin dander. I used these headsets for about an hour and while writing this review and it is easily superior to some of the materials used on the earpads on other high-end headsets. The ear cups are fully circumaural for me but maybe a tad small compared to other headsets. The speakers/drivers are clearly visible and protected by a wide gauge metal covering. Unfortunately, and this may be a big issue for some, there was no way to adjust the headset/size of the headphones. This is often an issue for folks with big and small heads, I have a pretty large 7 3/4 baseball cap head but I have read plenty of reviews that have stated a headset didn't feel good on their head that I found absolutely fine and comfortable, so keep that in mind!!! Now onto the weird. This headset almost feels like it is living in 2 different eras. Do people still buy WIRED-ONLY headsets anymore? I get it that folks who want the finest audio quality to a DAC or AMP may want a 3.5mm plug to their headsets, I have the option on my somewhat high-end Sony BT headsets. But for gaming? I think most people would prefer wireless freedom over being tethered for quality right? Well as you would have it, these Elite Pro 2 are ONLY wired, and while the SuperAmp hub is kinda like the wireless hub for the headsets, it needs to be powered via USB, and the Elite Pro 2 headsets have no battery and get their power via 3.5mm from the SuperAmp hub. Feels like 10 years ago to me but I guess that's what they chose to do instead of going wired or USB wireless like their Logitech, Corsair, Alienware competitors. That said, the pairing was simple with my iPhone via BT, which then gave access to the app. Overall sound quality and comfort is excellent, I just wisht there was a truly USB wireless only option as well.

Great Headset for Xbox One or PC

I was a bit hesitant to try this headset out, given the tethered connection of the headset. However, once it's setup, the sound is GREAT! It was quickly recognized by my Xbox One, and the wires are all long enough that I didn't feel like I needed to sit too close to the console. The headset isn't heavy, is VERY comfortable, and the included (detachable) microphone picked me up clearly, and can be adjusted for proper fit/use for you. The included wiring also maps where it should plug into the amp and the headset for easy setup. If you're not sure what goes where, the included quick start guide is easy to follow! The bluetooth connection available on the amp itself works well! I easily paired it with a media device, and was able to listen to music. There is mention of the device being able to work with a Playstation 4, but I have yet to test whether the app will allow this to work with it. I had to look up what the magnetic side plates were for, and discovered that you can get stylized plates, but they don't affect performance; just a cosmetic item. It was just confusing when I accidentally pulled one off during the unpacking, and had to look up why. They don't take a lot of force to take off, and easily snap back in place using magnets. This doesn't mean they'll fall off on their own, at all. Just doesn't take a lot of effort to get them off. If you're looking for a wireless solution, this is definitely not it, but it's great knowing the sound is AWESOME and doesn't require batteries. I highly recommend giving these a shot! I was really impressed with the sound quality and easy setup!

These headphones have a tremendously clear sound that compliments the bass that it potentially delivers. The SuperAmp Controller allows a customizable experience for music and multiplayer. The feel is soft and secure for a complete seal around the ears. Being wired creates a double-edged sword: With it being wired, technology is taken out of the headphones, making them physically lighter for your head and neck to withstand long gaming sessions. However, the wire coming from the Xbox stretched out across the room impedes on the look of the setup of the game room, and creates a tripping hazard. For me, the wire would be a deal breaker, but that doesn't take away from its performance quality.

First impressions of this unit are that it is remarkably packaged. Foam core around the headset and audio hub, accessories in its own box and wrapping, protective plastic over the finishes. After unboxing, however, the next impression is how HEAVY the headset is. I’m not sure why that is. For something that is designed for an activity that can last for hours, I’m not sure why this isn’t lighter weight. I attached all the cables, and discovered that, while the mic is removable, it is not very MOVEABLE. The mic bends toward the user’s mouth, but there is only one port for the mic (on the user’s left) and it doesn’t move up for those times it is not needed. I also had an issue where the mic fell off the headset after attachment. You need to make sure the mic is seated completely until you feel a subtle click into place. At first, I didn’t hear any sound coming through the set. I realized that the hub was turned down, so I had to adjust that first. Sound quality was good. You can use the headset alone or with the app (synced via Bluetooth to your phone). The app gives you LOTS of flexibility to get the audio to your liking. A little TOO much, perhaps, but great for the hardcore gamer. The version I tested was for the Xbox One, but it also worked great with a gaming laptop.

    Nice Headset for Gaming

This is an overall nice headset for gaming. The comfort of adding the channels you can adjust for glasses is a nice touch that allows these to sit on my head for longer gaming sessions and for me that is a win. I know a lot of people want to know about how it sounds, and it sounds good to me. The SuperAMP is a nice addition, giving you a USB Soundcard. This is handy if you have issues with a sound card on your PC, I find it worked well and it was a nice change of pace to also not only have an App, but a PC App to adjust settings as well. It was a nice change to not have to rely on a phone to make all the settings changes all the time. Now the PC app and the Phone app have different features they can modify, like the LED you need the phone app, and Firmware updates require the PC App. However I find they work well together and the superamp is what makes this a handy device, giving you a USB Soundcard to your PC. I also enjoy it the fact this is a wired headset, so I don't have to troubleshoot bluetooth or wireless issues, giving nice clear sound. Overall I am enjoying this headset, with clear sound and easy use and setup. Bluethooth and USB. It just worked. If you need a headset for use these are definitely a comfortable pair that you should seriously consider.

Crystal Clear Sound and All Day Comfort

These have some of the most crystal clear sound I’ve heard from gaming headphones. And you would expect that from a wired pair. While wireless cans are all the rage, the sound quality can be less than stellar. And let me start by saying that even though these are wired headphones, you have over 17 feet of cable length so you’re sure to be able to sit just about anywhere and be comfortable. 10 ft cable from Xbox to Amp and 7 ft from Amp to Headset. The construction is top notch, very premium feeling. Metal head band with very sold construction of ear cups and bagging. The 50 mm drivers are huge and the ear cups are nice and large, completely fitting over the ear, and even though they are not true noise cancelling, they block out so much ambient room sound, it really lets you focus on the gaming. The ear pads are super comfortable and kept my ears cool even through long sessions. I never felt ear fatigue at all. I do wish the head band would extend just a bit longer, I ddi find myself adjusting ever so slightly from time to time because I needed just a bit more length, but it definitely isn’t something I would count as a negative, but if you have a large head, something to think about. And the removable ear cup caps are cool if you want to replace them, or get something customized, more for e-sports type players. The sound quality like I said, was amazing. Crystal clear, no drops or pops. Using Windows Sonic on the Xbox lets you hear everything and the spacial audio that these provide is just so good. I was surprised they actually didn’t get louder than they actually do at max volume, but max volume is still a very good volume, probably more loud than folks really need, and the audio stays crystal clear, no distortion of any kid even at max volume and bass boost on. And bass boost does emphasize the low end with more clarity, I do wish it did add some over the top bottom end that other TB headsets can be known for. But in this type of headset, more for pro gamers, more bottom end can color the overall sound and reduce clarity, so I understand why it’s not there. These are audio tuned for a pro gamer experience. The bass is very nice and tight, super clear, but if you’re looking for over the top low end, these might not be for you. The Super Amp is also very premium construction. It has great weight to it so it stays in place, and the volume dial is super smooth and fluid. The LED display is very bright so you can easily tell if full audio and mic are engaged or if you have the mic muted. The mic mute is a single inline control on the headset cable and turns the Super Amp display bright red. The TB Audio Hub app is very easy to install and gives you full control over the headset settings, color display, audio options, chat settings and more. While it does feel sort of cumbersome to have to connect your phone to the headset just to edit the settings, most of them are something you’ll set one time and not have to continue to edit. But you have control over the audio tuning – bass boost, chat boost, super human hearing, etc. and the ability to enhance or lessen chat crosstalk, game audio or player chat, streaming mic audio and more. Overall, these have become the headset that I always use. The sound is simply amazing, the comfort is amazing, the quality of the mic audio is amazing, so there’s no reason to use anything else. TB nailed it with these.

Premium Build Quality, Excellent for Games/Movies

My first impressions out of the box were how well built these headphones are. The plastics used on the ear cups and end of the headband feel very tough and sturdy. The headband itself looks like a thin very strong sheet of steel, it flexes well and has a padded fabric cover for comfort. The ear cushions are made of memory foam and are swappable. They keep your ears cool, and comfortable during long gaming sessions. The "NanoClear" speakers have 50mm drivers and have this really cool transparent material covering them. So you're able to see the speakers underneath. The headphones have excellent sound quality , highs are clean, lows are full and deep without overpowering the mids and highs. When playing shooters, I am able to hear footsteps near me even though there is explosions and gun fire blasting. The virtual surround sound is awesome for watching movies and playing competitive shooters. You're able to hear what direction gunfire and enemies are coming from. Connecting to the Turtle Beach app on your android or iOS device allows you to use different sound presets or customize to your liking. The app itself is very intuitive and easy to use once your headset is paired to your device. Turtle Beach has provided plenty of good presets, you'll surely find one you enjoy. My favorite bluetooth feature is being able to stream music from my phone while I am gaming. Your music app of choice will stream nicely in the background. You can raise or lower the volume of the music with your phone or tablet and control the volume of the game with the volume knob on the super amp provided. Speaking of the Super Amp, it is quite amazing and a joy to use. The super amp is powered by usb on your Xbox One or PC and gives a significant boost to the headphones. You are even able to take your phone calls through the bluetooth connection. The headset microphone is also very well made and can disconnect if you don't plan on chatting while gaming. My buddies, say my voice comes through nice and clear with the included microphone. It seems to do a good job at filtering out background noise also. They used to complain about hearing background noises on my end sometimes. I want to add that the ear cups have this removable magnetic plate. I think it's to change them from an open to closed back experience. I honestly could not tell a big difference between having them on or off. I can't think of anything bad to say about these headphones, I wish they were completely wireless.. But the cable is long enough for you to sit close or far from your console or PC. Understandably though, the usb cable is needed to power the headset amp and bluetooth. So keep that in mind. Pros: Premium Materials and Build Quality -Virtual Surround Sound works great -Super Amp with bluetooth connectivity is a game changer -Many Presets to tune the headsets to your liking -Ability to stream music and take calls while gaming

When unboxing these gaming headphones you can tell that Turtle Beach has truly stepped up its game with these premium headphones. To set up you need to hook up the hub, the Mini USB cable (plugs into the Xbox for power), the 3.5mm cable, and the detachable microphone. Setup is easy after that and finding the right adjustment is now a breeze with the mobile app that connects to the SuperAmp via Bluetooth, a much better approach than onboard adjustments that you cannot access easily like on previous models. You never have to leave a game or take the headset off to make any adjustments. The DTS-X sound is fantastic and the headset sits comfortably on the head, never once was I uncomfortable, nor did my ears get hot as sometimes happens with over the ear headphones and mic placement was in the perfect spot for me. Most importantly I wear glasses and they did not interfere with my glasses at all which is a great plus. If you are looking for a true gamers headset you can’t go wrong with this one.

These headsets hurt my ears physically with or without glasses. They constantly cut out, and the fact that you have to connect them to an amp to change the volume is just worthless in so many ways. I will be returning this trash headset very soon.
