Customers are saying

Customers admire the Recon 200 headset's sound quality, comfort, and value for its price. Many appreciate its compatibility across multiple gaming platforms and the convenient flip-up microphone. However, some users point to issues with battery life and the wired connection. A shorter cord length and occasionally low volume were also cited as drawbacks.

great build, excellent quality and the sound is superb. my teammates can hear me talking very clearly. the only problem is you need to charge these headphones or else they wont work. and you need to charge it A LOT. they last me like 2 hours and then they die. most headphones don't even require power. but these are amplified i guess. so no i would not recommend these.

Got these for my son who needed a set of replacement headphones for his xbox. Decent price, hopefully they will last at least as long as his last model did. He plays alot so they only last for 4-6 months. The mic starts to go out. Recommend the best buy warranty!

Turtle beach claims to be "#1 in gaming audio", but I'm on my second set of these, the first pair I owned for one day and now the second about 2 days. I will be returning this pair too. So, #1 is a bold statement, here's why: There are SERIOUS ISSUES WITH VOLUME CONTROL! When you adjust volume control while gaming, the sound becomes very staticky and it will kill one side of your audio. So, in mid game play, you have to mess with the volume control to get both ear phones working again. This is the SECOND, BRAND NEW SET that this is happening on. So, this is not just a random occurrence. So I'd say, no, it's not a technical issue.... it's a poor design and oversight by the Turtle Beach team. Sure. The headphones look decent and sound good, but if you can't even get them to work properly... they're garbage no matter what. I don't care about their warranty, nor about bestbuys return policy. It shouldn't take me making 3+ trips to the store within a week, to get a headset that works in their entirety. I've never bought a Turtle Beach headset before these. I'll say this, I will not buy another set after these. Horrible.

      Hey there Dave,

We are sorry to hear about the inconvenience you've had with your headset. The Recon 200 should not experience this sort of issue, and it's very strange that this happened to you twice. Our Support Team would like to gather some more information from you to figure out if the cause of what you're experiencing is related to the headset itself or something else within your set up.

The team can be contacted via Live Chat between 9:30 AM EST and 4:30 PM EST from Monday through Friday. That's available directly on the main Turtle Beach website. Keep an eye on the lower right hand corner of your screen for the live chat icon when visiting our site. You can hop in there right now and have a discussion with one of our Support Agents about the inconvenience you've had.

The team can also be contacted via the Support Form listed on our main website.

      Thank you kindly! TurtleBeach

      Thanks for your feedback.

As a heads up; the Recon 200 headsets require charging due to the fact that they are amplified headsets. In order for the amplification to work, the headset would need to be powered by a power source of some sort.

Rather than tethering you to the console or another power source via a USB cable, we placed a rechargeable battery in the headset. This allows you to only have one connection to the console's controller, rather than two (one to the console, one to the controller). TurtleBeach

So to use these at all you have to charge the headset via the Micro USB cord it comes with. That includes just listening to music, even if the microphone is turned off. Best Buy and Turtle Beach couldn't help me and I couldn't return them since it had been after 15 days. I'm not sure if I got a defective pair but they've gone straight in the garbage. I ended up getting Razer and it works just fine. No charging cords required!

      Hello there TechGirl,

We appreciate your feedback. The Recon 200s require charging from time to time due to the fact that they are amplified headsets.

If you're not a fan of an amplified headset (which would require charging), we have plenty of analog models that may suit your needs.

If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to our dedicated Support Team via the form located on the main Turtle Beach website.

      Thanks! TurtleBeach

Decent headset, my sons enjoy these headsets, the only negative is the cushion on top, they say it’s very uncomfortable and wish there was more cushion on top that sits on their head.

I bought this for my 12 year old as a birthday gift so he can play and talk with his friend on XBOX. Although he takes great care of his things, this headset has held up very well while used constantly during the weekends. Holds a long charge as well. Great price point! Would buy again.

Over the years I've had many gaming headsets(turtle beach, pdp, astros, tritons, etc.) and for the price a better value can't be found. Their stereo imaging, soundstage and overall excellent frequency range response are by far the best under a 100 bucks.
