Customers are saying
Customers admire the Recon 200 headset's sound quality, comfort, and value for its price. Many appreciate its compatibility across multiple gaming platforms and the convenient flip-up microphone. However, some users point to issues with battery life and the wired connection. A shorter cord length and occasionally low volume were also cited as drawbacks.

Posted .Thanks for your feedback.
The Recon 200s require charging due to the fact that they are amplified headsets. In order for the amplification to work, the headset would need to be powered by a power source of some sort.
Rather than tethering you to the console or another power source via a USB cable, we placed a rechargeable battery in the headset. This allows you to only have one connection to the console's controller, rather than two (one to the console, one to the controller).
Is there anything in particular that we are able to assist you with? Our Support Team is always happy to help as needed, and we can be reached right from the support section of the Turtle Beach website.
Best regards!

They are too big

Worst headset ever
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worst headset for the ps4. Don't buy for ps4. Because when you play on the ps4 they made it so you have have it plugged into the controller and it has to be charged. I looked at the instructions and sure enough they only made that feature for the ps4. Which is bull. Turtle beach has now lost my buisness because that is the stupidest headset i have ever owned.

Some of our wired model headsets (i.e. Stealth 300 and Recon 200) require charging due to the fact that they are amplified headsets.
Please know that your headset does not need to be connected to its charging cable at all times. Once the battery has been charged, you can disconnect the USB charging cable and use the headset as your normally would. The headset would only need to be charged when its battery has been depleted.
If you're in need of further assistance with your headset, please do not hesitate to reach out directly to our dedicated Support Team. They can be contacted via the Support Section of the main Turtle Beach website & they are always happy to lend a hand.

Great Sound, Not So Great Comfort
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought it was pretty good but there’s a wire underneath the padding on the head band that kind of sticks out and doesn’t feel great.

Chat Mixer a freaking pain to get to work.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have to plug in almost all the way and hold it there for a second to get chat mixer to engage every time you use it. Quite annoying.

Does not include mic adapter for PC use
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Website needs to be updated to indicate that you need to buy an adapter to use the Mic portion with your PC. Kind of misleading on Best Buy's part, however on the box it does specify this requirement. Not sure why that adapter isn't included since there's no way it is worth that much. Build wise the headset feels pretty cheap, but then again it is a low/mid end headset so I guess it falls into that range.

GAMING HEADSET

Mic is super sensitive. Broke in less than a year.
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The mic is so sensitive it caught the background noise from our air conditioner’s condensing unit outside. Annoyed anyone in the party. Right speaker failed in less than a year. TB’s warranty support is garbage. Looking for a new headset. Would NOT recommend for heavy use/gaming. Good if you only game occasionally, have no other people or sound in the room (or even outside apparently), and don’t need it to last long.

Must be charged like a cordless!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An absolute disappointment! I bought this headset because I wanted a corded headset that didn't need to constantly be charged. I missed the fine print that said it had a rechargable battery. How stupid is it to have a corded headset that still needs to be charged?!

We're sorry to hear that you purchased the incorrect headset! We'd suggest reaching out to Best Buy for assistance with an exchange or refund if the Recon 200 is not to your liking.
In regard to your question; the Recon 200's require charging due to the fact that they are amplified headsets.
With that being said, we do hope you're able to get assistance from the store with an exchange. If you have any further questions or concerns about your product, our team would be happy to provide assistance via their Live Chat service on the main Turtle Beach website or the Support Form that is listed there.
Thank you kindly and enjoy the upcoming weekend!
