Item is defective, the headphones work sometimes and the mic doesn’t work at all

Recon 200 from Turtle Beach are good gaming headphones/mic that work with all the gaming consoles that’s out today. This is one set of headphones that you can use across devices without any issues. I haven’t tested every single platform this mic works on but so far it works just fine on PS5, PS4, PC, and Xbox Series that I’ve used. Using them sound just fine, I wish the loudness in the volume was a little higher up but does a decent job letting you hear things around you. My first test was Black 4 Blood to see how it handled chaotic sound at once. It faired well and gave good isolating sound. If you are confused that this have a battery inside of it even though it’s wired; this powers the bass boost functionality. This feature works good for the Recon 200 giving it the extra power it needs. It adds bass at intense level, for example explosions from cars that rattle the headphones for a bit. Design they look really good in white and I happen to enjoy it. There is a flip down mic which is appreciated it when you need to hurry up and mute the mic. As for the mic itself it’s pretty clear and many people heard me over voice chat, no popping sounds or strangeness to the voice. So it’s really no issues there. Did I mention that they also pretty durable at-lease they feel that way in hand? I also appreciate that these Recons 200 are very much glasses friendly so it isn’t uncomfortably and awkwardly sitting on top of your head. The headphones are also extremely comfortable with the cushions that press against your ear. The plush give comfort for hours of gameplay. Turtle Beach got the comfortability right with this line of headphones. They are pretty powerful gaming headphones at this price point and something I would consider recommended to anyone on a budget. They fact they work with all devices with a 3mm headphone jack without issues of wireless connecting is a simple plus. Can’t go wrong here.

Mic is overall good but only after 2 days of using it is already echoing on Xbox

Total disappointment when I connected this headset. Not that it was a disaster, but I was expecting a lot more from Turtle Beach. Then I realized that it was not charged, and I was not aware that it worked when out of juice. It does but the audio quality is just okay. After charging it my initial disappointment was thrown out the window. It did sound as I expected from this brand in this headset category. As an audiophile, sometimes I have a hard time reviewing some audio equipment because I must be conscious that I cannot compare a cheap with a high-end one and that I should be objective and base my review on value. Also, I tend to be forgiving when it comes to gaming audio because I’m mostly interested in the fun of the game itself. So, instead of perfect audio I focus on immersion. That is to say that the Turtle Beach Recon 200 meets the immersion requirement for its category. Audio quality is also very good considering its value. For some types of soft music, I wouldn’t use this set, but I would for most all others. But again, this is for gaming, and it does a good job for that purpose. In this price range, Turtle Beach beats many other brands. Yes, it’s wired, and I do like the freedom of wireless, but wired audio is almost always better than wireless, except for much more expensive headsets, and for video gaming it is always more stable and responsive, which can be crucial to winning, especially games with other people online. The mic performs very well too and has a flip-to-mute arm. There’s nothing to brag about design. It looks like most gaming headset of this type, but comfort is good, and the battery lasts a whole day of gaming easily. Unless you’re willing to pay a lot more for a higher-end model, I’d say this will satisfy your audio gaming needs. And if you play on multiple consoles like me, you’ll only need this headset.

Works great but snapped within a week of having them.

Used them for five secounds before my friends complained about an echo. Mic is short so it will pick up thier aduio causing a very annoying echo feedback loop. The only solution is to turn down the headphones to a volume so low you can barley hear anything. Do not waste your time on these. I bought them yesterday, ill be returning them today.

The Turtle Beach Recon 200 headset is an excellent headset for the price. It provides good sound in multiple modes, and works with just about every modern video game device. The headset is very comfortable to wear, balancing good grip on my ears with an average amount of down force from the top. It has fabric earcups that breathe very well; my ears didn't get hot at all, even during long gaming sessions. I also happen to wear glasses which can be an issue with some headsets, but not with the Turtle Beach Recon 200. The memory foam on the earcups is just the right amount of pressure while fitting my ears better than more expensive sets that I have owned. The headset feels very light, with it being made mostly out of plastic except for the headband with metal reinforcement. The finish is matte black with some silver highlights. All of the controls are on the left cup, as is the mic boom. The boom is fairly short and sticks straight forward with a slight curve inward at the end. I liked that it is unobtrusive while doing a seemingly great job of picking up my voice. The mic boom rotates up to mute, and the earcups also swivel for good head fit. The headset works in 3 modes: unpowered, Xbox, and Playstation. There are no specific modes for PC or Switch; more on that later. The unpowered mode provides fairly standard sound quality, maybe on the quiet but balanced side. The charge lasts about 11 or 12 hours. The other two modes utilize the included USB C cord to power the headset. Xbox mode does amplify the sound a noticeable amount compared to the unpowered mode. I don't own an Xbox so I tried this on PC. While the sound is louder, I found it a little unbalanced with heavy bass for my taste. Lastly, I tried the Playstation sound mode and it provided a very nice amplified sound on PS5, PS4, Switch, and PC. The bass still had impact but it was balanced very well with the treble and midrange sound. I could hear nearby footsteps and distant shots clearly in the games I was playing. I would reccommend this mode for all non-Xbox devices. The amplification does affect the clarity just a bit. The headset doesn't provide the most crystal clear sound or most clearly defined directional sound that I've heard, but the other headsets that did were vastly more expensive too. This is great quality for the price. Overall, I am enjoying this headset on multiple devices. It provides good sound, fits well, and doesn't break the bank.

After thirty days of use, the microphone broke. It says contact technical support and I didn't get a response.

Battery required to talk on a wired headset? Do not buy this headset. Had Turtle Beach XO 4? And they were excellent until they met a rambunctious puppy. Sought a quick replacement and got these. Super disappointed I can't talk when the battery is dead, which is often. Why does a wired headset need a battery anyway? Wish I done more research.

Not good start acting up after a month. Would not recommend

The Turtle Beach Recon 200 (Gen2) headset is versatile headset for gamers who have multiple platforms. Because it is wired, you can use it with Xbox, Playstation, Switch, and PC, although the latter may require you to use an adapter to get mic support. The headset is powered despite being wired. It will work fine without power in passive mode, and the sound is okay. But when powered, the sound is amplified, and it is much, much better, particularly in bass, but everything improved. The overall clarity I found surprisingly good, testing with Xbox Series X/PC (audio only with latter). I was also satisfied with the flip-to-mute mic, although I'm not as picky about that as others. The headset is plastic, but feels sturdy enough, and doesn't sit too heavily. The headphones themselves were comfortable to wear for an extended period. On the left there are controls for volume and mic control, as well as a power toggle for PS/Xbox modes. Below that is the charging port for the 12-hour life battery, which thankfully is USB-C (cord included). The 3.5mm attached cord is just right in length; I do wish it had been braided, however. Overall, this is a good headset for those who game on multiple platforms, especially if you don't want to break the bank. I was pleasantly surprised at the amplified sound quality, and they fit well and were comfortable on my ears. Recommended.

My son loves these. I am thinking about investing in a pair for myself.

These are junk. My son got these as a gift and after throwing them at the wall only one time they stopped working. He was very disappointed
