Made from cheap plastic - purchased 2 pairs and within year each had broken at same place - which renders them useless. Headphones work well until you cannot put them on your head - the plastic will fail during usage.

This is my 3rd and LAST try with Turtle Beach headsets. I've purchased 3 different types at three different times and THEY ALL BROKE because of the crappy plastic and bad design. I am a grown man who takes care of his items. No dropping, no throwing etc. I always buy the "top of the line" models because I need the Bluetooth functionality. Im so sick of their garbage products breaking with just normal use. Over it. Goodbye Turtle Beach. Never again...

The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen2 is a solid well built wireless gaming headset. I will say it is by far one of the best gaming headsets I have owned. They not only performed extremely well, they sounded good, they looked good and they were so comfortable. Again you can’t take away that build quality and the cobalt blue and bronze accent make them stand out. You will notice right away when pulling out the box some weight on them but don’t be alarmed. Once you put them on, those earcups feel so soft that they will make you forget about their weight. Some of the issues I have with some gaming headsets are that they are too big even after adjusting to the smallest setting. These were able to fit perfectly on the fly at the smallest setting..
This headset is made for Xbox XlS but it will work on PC, Playstation, Switch and mobile phones. I can confirm it works with the Xbox, PC, Android phones and Playstation. So in other words this is an all around headset. Included in the box is the wireless transmitter USB which you need to plug in to pair it. Paring is easy, if you use an Xbox on the transmitter it has a switch, set it to Xbox and hit the pairing button on the headset and that will do. For PC and PS5, put the switch on the transmitter to USB. You can use the Bluetooth connection to pair it with your phone and PC as well. On the left earcup you have the volume controls and buttons including the charging port. To mute the mic all you have to do is fip the mic upwards and that will do.
The memory foam used on the earcups are very very soft, they feel great and not only that, they will not make your ears hot, so you can use them for a long period of time. They also are glasses friendly meaning you can play using your glasses with no issues. When it comes to sound they won't disappoint. They sound streamly good with a nice balanced mids, highs and good deep bass. They also support the latest surround sound formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS X . The best part is that they are wireless with no cables in the way. Battery life is rated at 40+hrs per manufacturer. I have been using it for a few days and the battery is still almost at max.
Overall these are one of the best gaming headsets I have tried. They are not cheap but you pay for what you get, a premium quality headset which can be used across gaming platforms. Is like a 1 size fits all. They look good, sound good and feel great on your head, you can play with them for hours. In the box you get the headsets, USB wireless transmitter, USBC charging cable, and manuals.

I’ve used Turtle Beach (TB) headsets for several years, since they began releasing headsets for the Xbox Platform and on PC. I actually own the previous generation Xbox Stealth 700 headset, using it for my Xbox Series X. However, as with most, if not all headset manufacturers, you often had to purchase one specific to the console you were planning to use the headset with. So, I was happy to see Turtle Beach release a premium headset, with the ability to use with multiple platforms.
In the box, you’ll find the headset, a USB Dongle, and a USB C charging cable. There is a PC app you can use for future updates, which require you plug the device in using the supplied USB cable, and a companion app on iOS that allows you to make adjustments to the headset when connected over bluetooth. The included USB dongle/adapter/transmitter has a toggle switch which allows you to switch between Xbox and Playstation/PC (USB Setting), while bluetooth allows you to use the device on your mobile device and with your Nintendo Switch.
The iOS app offers similar functionality as seen with previous generation Turtle Beach headsets, such as EQ settings. You should be able to use the iOS companion app while connected over bluetooth and when using the USB dongle on your console, but at times found that it wouldn’t connect or would lose the app connection. This didn’t at all interfere with the use on the console, but would happen on occasion when trying to make an EQ change.
TB claims the battery life will last 40+ hours of use, and during my gameplay the last two weeks, I’ve only had to charge this once so far. You’ll hear a voice during power up which will give you a connection and battery message. The USB dongle, during my testing, has worked flawlessly on Xbox, PC, and Playstation. I have yet to see any disconnects, outside of the odd App connection issues, and has been fairly easy to use with my Nintendo Switch. I have noticed some odd behavior on PC when connected over bluetooth; where the headset will switch to old school bluetooth with mono sound. This is easily replicated on Halo Infinite, as soon as you get passed the title screen. A simple work around is to go to the control panel, under devices and printers, and disabling the hands free option. This, unfortunately, seems to disable the microphone all together. So, if you’re looking to use VOIP services in games over bluetooth on PC you may run into some limitations. I should point out, this is more an issue with how the operating system identifies and uses the headset, not so much a failure by TB. Using the USB dongle offers the maximum compatibility for all uses on PC, so I’d strongly suggest using it.
The headset is lightweight, with really soft ear pads making this comfortable to wear with your blue light blocking or prescription eye glasses. The drivers are large, full of bass, and clear sound. The separate volume wheels are easy to use with Xbox and Playstation, but don’t seem to offer the same functionality (at least during my use) on PC. The Cobalt Blue color scheme is attractive, offering a nice look over the standard black.
Overall, this is an AMAZING headset. The vast compatibility with pretty much every device and console is a nice change of pace in the headset market. I do wish there was a way to avoid using a USB adapter, but found it to be the easiest way to make a stable connection. The sound is better than most headsets on the market, and the companion app is a nice add. There is a mode button to also help switch between some of the default EQs, which allows you to focus on gaming over toggling updates in the app.

Turtle Beach Is Back Baby! (w/one small quibble)

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I have been a fan of Turtle Beach since they started making headsets for Xbox back in the mid-2000s. They always sounded great and were comfortable for long gaming sessions. I didn't start moving away from them until a few years ago when it felt like the folks at Turtle Beach were trying to cram too much into their headsets and not paying enough attention to quality and usability. The wireless headsets ran out of battery too quickly and the battery burned out completely (with no way to replace it) by the end of a year. They also became so heavy and clunky that they weren't that great to wear for very long.
The Stealth series tried to address some of those issues but battery life was still meh, and they were still uncomfortable (to me at least), after just an hour of use. The new Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max (maybe find a different naming convention for these TB?), address most of the issues I had with recent versions with one small problem. Let me break it down.
What I like:
1. Battery Life: Still can't replace the battery but they play time with these is HUGE, and the longer I can go between battery charge cycles means that we should also get longer life out of the battery pack.
2. Sound: I have always liked Turtle Beach for the sound quality, and the Superhuman Hearing can be a life saver in games. The 700 Gen 2 Max sounds great and can get LOUD. You are limited with what profiles you have available if you use it just on Xbox/PS5 but can customize it a bit more with the TB Audio Hub.
3. Comfort: Either Turtle Beach has improved the clamping force and padding in the ear cups or I have dulled my pain receptors and changed my glasses enough that I don't have to take breaks from wearing these nearly as often. I still need to give my head and ears a break every couple of hours but these a far more comfortable than previous version and especially so over some other competing headsets.
4. Ease of Use: Plug in the wireless transmitter into your Xbox, turn on the headset and play. Easy as that. If you want to do the other stuff like hooking it up to your phone, you can, but if you just want to get in and play, these make it easy to do so.
What is my Quibble?:
Software: The first couple of days I used the Gen 2 Max headset on my Xbox were absolutely awesome. It wasn't until I tried to see if there would be an improvement by updating firmware or tweaking things in the Audio Hub. First, I have been unable to get the audio hub to recognize my headset on my MacBook Air. I don't know if this is because of the M1 chip or what but while the software was able to be installed, I can't seem to get it to 'see' the headset either through the USB cable or Bluetooth. Also, once I activated Bluetooth and tried to get things running by those means, I have noticed problems with the headset back on my Xbox, even though it is using the USB transmitter/receiver. Now I'm getting pops and hisses while playing that weren't there before. I have deleted the headset from my MacBook's Bluetooth connections and I turn off BT when playing but it still isn't as 'clean' of a sound as when I first hooked them up.
If you are going to just use them with an Xbox, just plug in the transmitter and go, don't mess with the software. You'll thank me later. I'm working on seeing if there is a way for me to reset these back to factory settings so that I can get that out of the box sound again but these are so new that there isn't any real support documentation on line yet. I'm also going to keep trying to get the software to work.
Conclusion: Turtle Beach is back on their game with the Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max (seriously guys, shorten the name). They sound great, are comfortable, and the battery lasts forever. Just be wary of the software right now if you are on a Mac (I can't speak to the software on PC). Also, the headset looks awesome in the Blue and Copper color.

Great Cross-Platform Audio Option for Gamers
|
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Turtle Beach has released their new flagship gaming headphones - the Stealth 700 Gen2 MAX which work across gaming platforms. The package includes the headphones, a Bluetooth (BT) dongle, a short USB-C cable for charging, and paperwork. The headphones come with a 1-year limited warranty.
DISCLAIMER: I used these headphones for both a PC and PS5.
PROS:
-----------
* The face that these aren't made for EITHER Xbox OR PS5 is great. One size fits all. The only thing you have to do is change the switch on the BT dongle, depending on which platform you are using. The pairing up of the dongle and the headset was instant.
* Stylish look, comfortable memory foam on the top and in the ear pieces.
* Audio is as good as there is out there. For music, highs and lows are pretty good. As for gaming (Fortnite, CoD), sounds are crystal clear. Superhearing mode is one such mode to help with lower volume or distinct sounds, but I didn't find it a ton helpful. Regular mode worked fine for me.
* The mic has 3 "clicked-in" positions... all the way down is MIC ON, 1/2-way up, MIC OFF but easily accessible, and all the way up is also MIC OFF for storage or if you want it out of the way completely. When the mic moves from a MIC ON to MIC OFF or vice-versa, the headphones notify you of the change.
* They are quite durable. They bend well in all directions and feel like they are made of a solid construction.
* I have been playing this set for a few hours each day the last week and the battery is finally low enough to start charging. Turtle Beach claims 40 hours of battery life and I would agree that it will take a lot to wear these down so charging should be minimal.
CONS:
-----------
* The headphones are actually a bit snug for my taste, but after wearing them for a while, it's not as noticeable. The tightness is good since it keeps the weight from shifting front and back (or falling off), but for me, it was a bit too snug. They were not so snug that I couldn't use them.
* It's a shame these headphones can't be connected via BT like normal BT headphones. That would make for a great combo when you want to switch over to a music source on your smart phone. Unfortunately, the dongle is needed.
* I didn't see much use for the Turtle Beach audio app on the phone since it doesn't really connect to the phone. You can control some settings, but didn't prove to me that it would be of much use as a gamer.
* This being a flagship set of headphones, it would have been great to see this set have a charging cradle/dock or wireless charging option. I like that it uses USB-C over micro-USB, but a docking station would be nice.
OTHER OBSERVATIONS:
-----------
* I cannot vouch for the comfort feature for glasses wearers since I don't wear glasses. From what I read, it should improve comfort if you wear glasses though.
* All the controls are on the LEFT ear rear and bottom. I like that the volume is easy to change on the fly; however, it might take some time to get used to the placement of that control over the mic control wheel below it.
CONCLUSION:
=====================
Overall, a great set of gaming headphones, and especially great that they cover the main platforms of gaming. The biggest negative is that there is no docking station to charge the headphones. That would have really given them a boost compared to the competition. Even though there is no cradle, I'd still rate them highly as the sound quality and longevity of the battery are optimal. Great job, Turtle Beach on another great product.

The last time I owned a pair of Turtle Beach headsets was about 9 years ago. They lasted about 5 years, so longevity was about what I expected. Those however were fairly light and comfortable. The Stealth 700 however are quite the opposite.
Out of the box you get the headset, a USB-A adapter, a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, and inserts.
Once you plug in the adapter and turn on the headset, you're all set. I checked to see if there was an update for these, and nope.
For my test, I maxed out everything I could on the headset.
From the moment I put the headset on, one thing was clear, these were not lightweight. They do a minimal job at blocking out some sound, but these do not block any outside/ambient sound.
The mic is tucked in on the left ear cup, and once they are brought down, you get a beep indicating that the mic is on.
When you turn on the headset, it lets you know what the battery status is. I thought that was a nice touch.
The build quality is okay. It's a mix of plastic and some aluminum. I would give the build quality about a 7/10.
I had the sound cut off once while watching a movie. I had to unplug the adapter and reinserted it, and it took care of that of that issue.
The sound itself is where this headset wins. I tested the game with my favorite FPS game, and I was able to hear every bullet, explosions going on around me, footsteps, it had me completely immersed in the action.
Using the mic to talk with my buddies during a match was a great. They could hear me clearly, and I, them.
I also used the headset to watch a full movie at night, and it gave me that nice surround sound.
My only gripe is that I found that I couldn't keep the headset on for a long period of time. I had to take them off about every 25-35 minutes. Maybe it's the combination of weight, and the material used for the ear cups.
It's not good that I couldn't keep them on for a long time to really test out the 40+ hours of battery capability. A game session usually goes for about an hour. It's sad that I couldn't keep the headset on for the whole hour.

Amazing clear Audio/Impressive Comfort

The Stealth 700 MAX is pretty much just a plug and play device for all
consoles and PC use, except flipping a switch on the USB adapter, depending
on the device. When it comes to connecting to a bluetooth device, it's not
as easy, but still pretty simple. Download the Turtle Beach Audio Hub. Hold
down the Bluetooth button on the headset until the light starts flashing
rapidly with a bluish tint. Then search for the device through your phone's
settings. At this point, it showed my phone as synced, but not actually
connected. I had to tap the Bluetooth button a couple times to get it to
connect.
Turtle Beach really had the end user in mind when they developed the
Stealth 700 MAX
Aside from the incredible sound, the next super impressive feature the 700
MAX has is the ability to change its comfort level with eye glasses.
The ear cuffs have a small plastic tether located on the back side of them.
The tether can be pulled outward to accommodate eye glasses with thicker
frames, or let back in for thin eyeglasses.
Plus the ear cups are made from a cooling gel, to help keep you more
comfortable during those longer gaming sessions.
The Battery life on the GEN 2 700 MAX has been increased to be able to
handle 40hours of use.
It also has a fast charge feature, where 15minutes of charge can get you 8
more hours of use.
The overall design is pretty solid, with a nice mix of metal and plastic.
The headband is adjustable and has a cushion on its underside. Even though
the headphones themselves look a little bulky, they are still pretty
lightweight.
It's nice to see a headset that still uses 50mm speakers, most have
migrated to 40mm because of the size. While it's possible to get nearly the
same audio between the 2 sizes, the 50mm speakers typically offer better
Bass and increased overall sound level.
The Bass is pretty impressive, and the overall sound level is pretty high.
I have not had to strain to hear anything through these speakers,
especially with Superhuman hearing. SuperHuman hearing is basically just a
higher volume, but without the added distortion in the audio, which happens
sometimes with different speakers.
The surround sound and Dolby Atmos work perfectly, there is no issue trying
to determine any sound's direction with these. It's almost like cheating
being able to hear enemy players walking around corners, or approaching the
outside of a small building that you are in. It also is very helpful at
trying to determine where someone is shooting at you from. As impressive as
all this is using the headset with your gaming console, it's just as
impressive, if not more so, when it's connected to your phone, and you are
watching a good action movie, or just simply listening to your favorite
music.
I love how versatile this headset is. It only takes the flick of a switch
on the USB adapter to make these work with either an XBOX or any other
video gaming console, PC , or Bluetooth device.
Even with the headset connected to your gaming console, you can still have
them connected to your phone, so that you can easily control the audio and
audio settings, through Turtle Beaches Audio Hub. The Audio hub software is
available for all platforms, and lets you change the activated feature for
one of the scroll wheels, and a button. Here you can select from; Chat
Volume, Mic Monitor Level, SuperHuman Hearing Volume, and Bluetooth volume.
The 2.4ghz wireless offers a lag free experience. I managed to get a
distance of about 20 to maybe 30ft away from the console while wearing
these. We have a lot of obstructions in our house, so it did break up a few
times, as I was almost 2 rooms away. I would imagine that you would get a
greater distance with no obstructions and an open space.
The mic is pretty easy to use, just drop it to activate it, and fold it
back up to mute it. The chat audio was exceptional on both ends of the
connection. It also has a MIC monitoring feature, which basically gives you
control of how much outside noise can be heard back through the speakers
while wearing the headset. This is beneficial for several reasons, it lets
you hear what is going on around you, and lets you hear yourself talking so
that you don't end up screaming too loud while chatting in game. Most
people are used to the sound of their own voice, and when they can't hear
it as they speak, they talk louder and louder until they can hear
themselves again.
Realistically, I don't know what more anyone could ask for when it comes to
a high quality headset. This virtually works with everything out there, has
great bass, with loud clear audio channels. It even lets you make or
receive calls while still listening to your game, all through the headset.
The comfort is great, the earcups are soft, and fit well with their shape.

The Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX is a nice upgrade from the previous model in nearly every aspect and it makes for the perfect headset compatible with all your gaming consoles. (My review is based off of my experience using it on my Xbox Series X)
Setup:
Setup was a breeze, literally just plug and play. I plugged the USB transmitter with the toggle set to "Xbox", turned on my console and boom it popped up saying new headset assigned. I was then able to download the Turtle Beach Audio Hub app to my phone and it automatically detected my headset and allowed me to change all my audio settings while in game to adjust the pre-sets, my custom settings, the superhuman hearing, ect.. to my personal preference.
Gameplay:
Within no time, I was in a match of Apex Legends and I could automatically hear sounds that wouldn't of been picked up on my other headsets such as foot steps, shots fired and even people on zip lines that were pretty distant from me. Hearing all these new sounds definitely gave me an advantage in game.
Comfort:
As someone that wears prescription glasses, comfort is one of the top things I look for when looking for a headset. After a few long gaming sessions with these on, I experienced no discomfort, pressure, or my ears overheating. In fact they felt extremely comfortable the whole time.
Battery & Microphone:
The battery has been going strong, after over 20 hours now of active gameplay I still haven't had to recharge yet and I've been told the mic sounds crisp and clear. The flip to mute also works perfectly.
Turtle beach always exceeds my expectations when it comes to gaming headsets and this latest entry in their catalog is among the best I've used.
