AMPLIFI IS A JOKE - Don't waste your money on it!!

Very disappointing. Upgraded my ISP from 500mbps to 1 gig. Bought this system so I could get 1 gig everywhere as it says up to 20,000 square feet. Worst service I've ever had and their customer service is even worse than their products. I went from getting about 300 mbps before upgrading to NEVER getting above 200 mbps with this one, - DO NOT WASTE YOU MONEY OR TIME.

    Great WiFi Extender

This is the best wifi extender ever! My studio is in a separate building, over 100 feet away and I get a strong signal even though it travels through several walls. Set-up was easy and I'm not a tech-head.

Tried to get rid of the Xfinity package to save a little money. Best Buy techs and on line states for best performance to buy a separate modem and router. My internet is supposed to be 1000 mbps. I am barely getting over 200 mbps speed down load. Spent a lot of money and hoped to get at least half the speed.

Horrible. Had to return it. Go with the wifi 6 systems from either Orbi net gear or the new eero ones. Nothing was practical or functional. I installed this to my gig service, and the speeds next to it were below half when testing.

Awful wifi signal. The more I tried to get it to work the worse it became. Tech Support couldn't figure it out and gave up on it.

    So Far So Good!

I’m so excited about this equipment. I’ve had terrible internet access in some parts of my house- which is about 3300sq ft. My modem is on the main floor. While the whole process took me about an hour to set up- most of the time was spent trying to figure out how disable my current WiFi. Once I did that, connecting this equipment to my modem took only less than 10 minutes. It was super easy to set up- quick start guide was helpful as well as downloading app to phone which walks you step by step through set up which is basically connecting it to modem and turning it on! I placed on mesh upstairs and one in basement and so far so good! Internet is much better in those areas previously spotty. The true test is turning on gaming systems and seeing how that works. Love the app so you can test the internet speed, and set up profiles to be able to control internet access to specific devices. This is a recommended buy!!!

    Great home option

Full disclosure, I install and resell a lot of Unifi and Ubiquiti products for small to medium sized businesses as a managed service provider. Their wireless solutions and outdoor bridge products are hard to beat for the price point so I was really excited when I noticed they started offering a simple mesh AP system for residential applications. A lot of my clients have asked me to recommend a solution for their homes over the years and this is finally a simple system that fits the bill nicely. It is easy to install and provides rock solid coverage and service even in homes up to 4000 sq. ft. I have installed 4 of these systems now and will continue to recommended it to anyone that asks for a wireless system that is easy to install and works great.

    Solves my WIFI needs

I live in an RV park. The owner has Fiber to the main building to his modem for the Store. I connected this Router to his modem, and plugged in one Antenna outside the back of his store. My trailer is a good 150ft away with a tree and another trailer in the line of site. I am getting 90mbs download and around 60mbs up. I am also using a laptop with a new Intel ax210ngw wireless card. The AX201 card was having signal issues and lagging. I game online and I have 0 issues now once switching wireless cards in my pc. My phones and TV are also connected. The antennas are plastic so you can't put them where they may be bumped into. Both of my antennas are outside of the trailer and I have had 0 issues so far. Also, If I connect to antenna at my trailer the signal is a little weaker as it has to go through the other antenna and then to router. The router itself is a good 200 ft away from my trailer. So getting the speeds I do is pretty good and solves my issue for WIFI. Hope this helps. I would recommend this to anyone who needs to boost your wifi.

Good Router, if you do not need to content block.

I did not buy this from Bestbuy, I got mine at Fry's Electric a couple years ago, and I only got one access point (I didn't need 2 and it was about $75 cheaper). This is a good performing router. The are only 2 negative things I would say about this router. No parental controls for website blocking, and all the router management has to be done from the smart device app. Connecting to it via network cable give you very limited control access.

Nice set up, have had zero issues with dropped or weak WiFi anywhere in the house or even out in the yard. Was a little tricky to set up the 2.4 signal, but all I had to do was actually read the directions… lol

Mesh points failed after only 2.5 years.

I paid $350 for the Amplifi HD kit so my kids could access online education during the pandemic. The mesh points recently unpaired themselves. Amplifi chat reps guided me in resetting the mesh points and router twice, without success. I have never had a wireless router go out. The AmpliFi kit failed after only 2.5 years and I’m out $350!

One year warranty - Failed at 1 year 3 months

Internet went out and also the light in main unit which serves as the dashboard. I re-booted it, and the internet came on, but the light won't stay on, which means I have no dashboard (no, there's no browser dashboard), which means I can't update the software. For my home, mesh is the way to go, but at $350, I'm looking for another brand as I wait for the unit to stop working altogether. No phone number to call, nothing.

Internet speed is capped on mesh points

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Beware, the mesh points' internet speed is capped. You will never get more than around 170 Mbps while connected to a mesh point. I have been exchanging emails with tech support up to tier2. The latest response was something like this: around 150 Mbps in a mesh point is a good speed, they are intended for expanding connectivity but not to maintain speed, and that I should be happy with that. I have had this mesh system for 2 years so no returns for me. I never noticed because my ISP plan was 200 Mbps, as soon as I upgraded I saw the problem. Just go somewhere else to buy a mesh system.

Worst tech support ever. You can not talk to anyone ever. Only Chat is available. Good luck trying to fix an issue while chatting with someone. It’s like using Morse Code. So slow and very frustrating. Buy something else with real tech support.
