    A Fine Comeback

Four and a half stars. Janet makes me smile. I've been a Janet fan all my life and I always eagerly await every album. A Janet album release day is like a holiday for me. Unbreakable was a seven year wait and it was painful. But now the world knows what Janet's been thinking since Discipline and it's certainly a marked improvement over that album. Whereas Discipline was very sexually-charged, Unbreakable does a 180. Janet has toned it down but she hasn't lost her voice, as Unbreakable channels some of the best aspects of former albums. "Dammn Baby", "No Sleeep" and "Take Me Away" sound like they could have been cuts from janet.. "Burnitup!" and "2 B Loved" could have been on All For You. "Unbreakable", "The Great Forever", "After You Fall" and "Broken Hearts Heal" would have fit in on The Velvet Rope. There are even tracks with socially-conscious messages - "Shoulda Known Better" and "Black Eagle" - that may remind you of Rhythm Nation era Janet. "Black Eagle" is unlike anything Janet has recorded before (in my opinion) with a neo-soul- Erykah Badu vibe. It's hypnotic. "Dammn Baby" is a laid-back dance track with a fantastic bass line that will make you hit repeat multiple times. "The Great Forever" is Janet at her breaking point, singing with a sassiness and conviction we haven't heard since the '90's. The album has low points too. "Lessons Learned", "Well Traveled" and "Gon' B Alright" stumble, but still feel fresh in an experimental way. If you are considering buying this album, do it. In a world of raunchy, entitled pop stars, Unbreakable reminds us that great Pop/R&B music doesn't have to be shocking or explicit. ON REPEAT: "Dammn Baby", "The Great Forever", "Night", "2 B Loved", "Black Eagle"

Another class A production from Janet Jackson. This CD really makes you want to see her iun concert, but I guess fans will have to wait a little for that.

This CD left me bummed. Of about 17 tracks, I only like about 3 of them. I'll keep listening to find the connection with each.
