Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the R3 DSP Long Range Radar and Laser Detector, particularly its impressive range, performance comparable to the R7, and comprehensive radar detection capabilities. Many find it accurate and easy to use, especially considering the price. While false alarms are a concern for some, the device's GPS functionality and other features are appreciated, and the display is easy to read. The size is also seen as an improvement over the R7.

As far as radar detectors go this is pretty great. It is able to recognize the newest forms of radar so future proof is good with this. I wish it automatically recognized false alarm radars like the Escorts do, but for much less money this is fine, and you just push a button to have it memorize where the false alerts are. I definitely recommend this because Uniden has some very good distance compare to the Cobra I had before.

So far it seems to be doing the trick. Had it lighting up like 3 miles away from where the cop was running radar so seems to pick up the signals far away (this was in the open/flat areas of TX). Noticed that when it's more hilly it still seems to do a decent job at picking up the signal.

    Uniden R3 Radar Detector

This is the best radar detector I have ever owned. It picks up Radar from a fairly long distance (about a mile on a roadside radar sign) . It does have some false warnings but not nearly as many as my last detector. Lots of options for custom settings. I wish it was a little louder as I like to play my music loud and don't hear it go off when the radio is cranked but that is the only issue I have with it. Can't beat this for the price.

I ordered this for my sons car, then moved it to mine to continue setup and testing. I have a V1 gen 1 in my car and my wife has a V1 gen 2 in hers. I’ll be returning this in the next few days and just order a V1 gen 2 for my car and moving the old one to my son’s. I’m in an area where I can’t disable K or X bands… X really isn’t the issue. The K band is absolutely unusable on this. On 100% K, I get an alarm every 30 seconds, new car or old car, everywhere I go around our farm lands. I reduce the sensitivity to 60% and it gets rid of most alarms, but still an occasional 24.079 K band. Every automated shopping door alarms it. Turning K to narrow helps. When driving through small towns where houses are very close to the road, non stop K alarms and occasional X alarms. Neither of our V1’s do any of this. Gen 1 never false alarms, but probably misses a handful of cop radar. The Gen 2 alarms if you pull up to one specific Dollar General in our area, and used to alarm in our downtown in one spot, until V1 put out their most recent update. The R3 update process is too cumbersome, it’s way too chatty, and just seems like the old 90’s detectors that just constantly alarm. The GPS thing is really just a gimmick and has zero use if you’re driving new areas alot. With proper support and updates, these detectors are much more effective and falses go away. Really, save up $520 and order a V1.

I really like this radar detector. I own several including a Escort 360, and this is half the weight and just as sensitive as the Escort, and less expensive. One recommendation is to do a factory reset on the device before attempting to use it because it comes out of the box in some sort of demo mode and will not take any setting changes until you first do a factory reset.

While I can not compare this unit to others on the market, I can say that after researching the top brands before purchasing that this radar detector lives up to all the hype. It is not overly sensitive in fact I regularly drive locally in highway mode and am not distracted with excessive beeping at all. I get plenty of warning time when the local speed trap is in operation. This unit does not have an arrow display but is priced much lower than the ones that do. Excellent buy, no regrets, wish I got it sooner.

Absolutely love this and recommend it !! My husband got the higher end (almost $500) one at the same time and the only down side to mine is that it doesn’t show on my screen where the radar is..his does. Mine does have longer range tho for sure.it’s paid for its self already in a couple short months !also love the many color options !

Was deciding between a more expensive Uniden or Escort model with directional arrows but for a couple hundred bucks less decided on the R3 as it has all of the other features. I bought prior to July 4th weekend travel and it came through. Saved me from a small town speed trap as well as alerted a mile or more consistently on the interstate.

Have done testing with this against our Max 360 and it picks up all police radar, especially Ka-band, long before our Max 360 does.
