The Uniden R3BLK DSP Long Range Radar and Laser Detector stands out in the crowded field of radar detectors with its advanced features and robust performance. Here’s a detailed look at what makes this model noteworthy: Design and Build: The Uniden R3BLK sports a sleek, matte black finish that gives it a modern, understated look. The design is compact yet sturdy, with a solid feel that suggests durability. The display is clear and easy to read, even in bright sunlight, and the intuitive layout of buttons and controls makes operation straightforward. Performance: One of the R3BLK’s most significant strengths is its impressive range. The detector’s advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology ensures excellent sensitivity, providing long-range detection of radar and laser signals. This feature is especially useful for detecting speed traps well in advance, giving you ample time to adjust your speed. The R3BLK offers multiple radar bands including X, K, Ka, and SuperWide Ka, along with laser detection capabilities. The sensitivity settings are customizable, allowing you to fine-tune the detector according to your driving environment. This customization helps reduce false alerts from automatic door openers and other non-threat signals. Features: The Uniden R3BLK is packed with features designed to enhance your driving experience. The voice alerts are clear and easily understandable, providing timely notifications without being overly intrusive. The unit also includes a GPS lockout feature, which helps filter out false alarms from fixed locations like grocery store doors. One notable feature is the “Mute” button, which allows you to silence false alerts with a single press, ensuring you’re only notified about genuine threats. Additionally, the R3BLK has a comprehensive database of known speed camera locations, which can be updated as needed to keep the information current. Ease of Use: The R3BLK is user-friendly, with an easy-to-navigate menu and straightforward setup process. Mounting and Portability: The detector comes with a suction cup mount that securely attaches to your windshield. The mount is adjustable, allowing you to position the detector for optimal performance. The unit’s compact size ensures that it doesn’t obstruct your view while driving. However, if you frequently move the detector between vehicles, the mounting system might require occasional adjustment. Value for Money: At its price point, the Uniden R3BLK offers excellent value. It combines high-end performance with a range of features that justify its cost. For those who are serious about radar detection and want a reliable device that provides solid performance and minimal false alerts, the R3BLK is a strong contender. Outstanding radar detector!

This detector is fantastic! It's got the longest range out of any detector on the market at any price. It has excellent false alert filtering, lots of useful features, and is more capable than detectors that cost hundreds of dollars more. I've got a whole bunch of detectors and this is the one I run day to day because it offers me the highest level of protection. The range is outstanding so if you're looking at giving yourself the very best shot at detecting radar before the cop ahead can pick you up, this is the one to get. The K band filter can filter out most blind spot monitoring false alerts (Honda/Acura/GM are the main exceptions.. no detector can filter out those yet), it has a GPS chip (unlike the Uniden R1) which lets you quiet the detector down when driving through town at low speeds, you can double press the mute button when you encounter a false alert from a speed sign or nearby automatic door opener and it'll learn and remember that signal so it mutes it for you in the future, and it can alert you to nearby redlight cameras and speed cameras. Finally, unlike most other detectors on the market, it is also undetectable by radar detector detectors. This detector has proved extremely popular among radar detector enthusiasts and is generally the one I recommend. What about other detectors to consider? You've got the V1 and Max360 if you want arrows (yes the R3 can pick up signals from all directions too.. it just can't tell you if the signal is ahead or behind). The Max360 or Redline EX can also learn where stationary false alerts are around town like the R3, but unlike the R3 which requires you to manually teach it what's a false alert in the beginning, the Escorts can learn and filter those out automatically, hands-free, after you pass by them several times. There's also remote detectors available like the Net Radar and Stinger VIP if you don't want something mounted on your windshield. There's lots of excellent detectors available on the market. However, for the highest level of protection and an all-around excellent radar detector, the Uniden R3 is the one to get.

    Totally worth it. Excellent RD!

I've had this unit for almost three months now. The best one I've had. Excellent value. Yes, there are cheaper units, but for what this one does and how well it does it, you won't find anything better. Yes, you will need to learn how to do the initial setup, but there are plenty of resources on the internet to help you do that easily. What I like about this RD: 1) It's thoroughly configurable. 2) It does a really good job at rejecting false alerts, like car proximity detection systems. 3) It picks up radar a really long way away. I've detected signals as far as 3 miles. 4) You can tell it to ignore things that give you regular false alerts, like door openers. The RD has built in GPS, so it knows where the false alerts you are, and keeps you RD silent as you go past them. Folks, once you get this thing configured and dialed-in, PAY ATTENTION to it and slow down when it goes off. Every single time I've done this, there's a radar unit somewhere nearby, and I have get to get clocked over posted speed as a result. You can buy a cheaper on, sure. I did. Then I returned it and bought this one. TOTALLY WORTH IT. Drive safe!

    A Radar Detector that Delivers

I bought the Uniden R3 after doing some research online and reading positive reviews from other users. I have to say, this radar detector exceeded my expectations. It has a very long range and can detect various bands and lasers with high accuracy. It also has a built-in GPS that can alert me of red light cameras and speed traps, as well as a mute memory feature that can filter out false alerts from common sources. The display is clear and easy to read, and the device is user-friendly and customizable. I especially like the all threat mode that shows up to four radar bands in the area, ranked by signal strength. The Uniden R3 is a great radar detector for the price and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and effective device. It is definitely worth 4.5 stars out of 5.

Great radar detector has saved me from a couple of tickets. Great distance and very loud, so you don't miss the alert, some may think it's annoying but when you're playing music and not pau=ying attention to speed, the loud alert will tell you it there's a bad guy out there trying to stop you.lol

I've had this radar detector for quite some time now and after plenty of use, I have decided that it's entirely better than any one of my friends' Radar detectors. It picks up on everything and it's very accurate as well. It has many features as well as customizable options. You can change the color of the display, choose what you want on it as well, Change the clock to a compass instead, or show your frequencies, dim the backlight, or even mark a location (for regular speed traps) utilizing its built-in GPS. I've recommended this product to a few of my friends and so far whoever has gotten it continues to recommend it. It's built well and has a very secure suction cup. It doesn't droop from your dash or look cheap in any way. Great product overall.

I love everything about this detector. I get red light camera warnings 1000 ft down the road, a very sensitive detection system (I've had it pick up signals easily 3/4 of a mile down the road if not more) and it picks up a huge variety of signals. False alerts were troublesome at first due to the sensitivity, but after properly adjusting the settings it has been much better. Nearly everything on the software is customizable from the color of the display to the sensitivity of individual band detection, and even the minimum speed you must be traveling for the detector to issue a loud alert. You won't have even a hint of buyers remorse if you purchase this. Well worth the price.

Works good saved me at least 6 times first month long range they will price match Amazon saved me $50 . I use to go with escort and they are over priced and overrated not as good as they use to be so this uniden was the way to go I looked at testings and they were good so I thought I would try it I am not disappointed the advance setting you can tweak to your area works great barely any false alarms. The voice display is good. And red light camera, gps works great to remember false alarms you can set by tapping mute twice. Turn down k band for false alarms and cars with blind spot sensors. Overall very happy for the price. Get the hardwire kit easy set up.

I was traveling out of town for work the other day and completely avoided getting a ticket. Not so lucky for the guy who passed me. I was going only 5 miles over in the passing lane when my radar went off. I immediately corrected my speed and scooted over to the slower lane. At this time the car behind me proceeded speeding 5 miles over. About a minute later the cops that were scoping out for speeders, nabbed him. Even if the darn thing notifies me of everything, it’s paid for itself. I feel a lot safer with it everywhere I go.

I doubt that more features could be had for the price range. It has a very solid pickup distance and the peace of mind aspect is the biggest benefit for some individuals like myself. I've owned it for over a year now and it's more than paid for itself.

Best Radar Detector for the Price

Favorite radar detector at this price range. For $299 you literally cannot beat it. For anyone who is first time buying my recommendation to you is keep all bands on and use it for a little while. You’ll come to find out which bands your local departments use. I’ve come to figure out my local and state department only really use Ka bands. I keep K and X bands off to minimize false alerts while driving through the city. Now whenever it goes off there is a 95% chance there is actually a cop. It has saved me many times. Highly recommend!

I wanted a radar detector that could pick up on primarily KA band + Laser, since K band is hardly used where I live and work. I also didn't want to spend more than $250. But I kept reading reviews saying that the R3 is the best bang-for-the-buck and is definitely worth the extra $50-75 compared to name-brand budget detectors. I'll admit, for the first week or two, I was skeptical. LOTS of K band false alerts, especially around town. It turns out that the R3 needs a lot of its settings to be fine-tuned. A must-use feature is its Mute Memory, which uses GPS to auto-mute things like automatic door openers at grocery stores and car washes. I still get very consistent false alerts from driving near newer Mazda CX-5 SUVs, likely due to that vehicle's dual-frequency BSM system. I'm still trying to find a good combination of settings to reduce those false alerts. So, why the 5 stars? Because all of the fine-tuning is absolutely worth it. My Uniden R3 has picked up on both Laser and KA band flawlessly. Not a single false alert when either of those alerts go off. Not only that, but I've had my R3 has pick up on KA band over 3 miles away! I was astounded. Are there better detectors out there? Sure. But the Uniden R3 isn't supposed to be the best. It's the best bang-for-the-buck. Nothing else comes close.

After having a cordless detector for 15 years, I'm still having adjustment issues with wires. On the other hand, this detector is excellent in detection, distance, stealth, and much more compared to my old cordless with much less false alarms. The detector has a good price for what it offers. Spending $800 for a new state of the art, top of the line detector to help avoid a $200 ticket, to me, doesn't make a lot of horse sense when this one is not all that far away. My issue for 4 vs. 5 stars is the cord and window attachment. The cord is very inflexible on the ends; therefore, does not look good and the cup quality is not great. A better cord and attachment would make it 5 stars. I can see me having a custom installation done to get rid of most of the mess and distraction. Still looking for a comparable quality cordless with similar features - unfortunately they do not exist

I have been looking at radar detectors for just over a year now and knew that I wanted the Uniden brand because of their long-distance radar ability. I decided not to get the R7 only because of the difference in cost and in the rural area that I live the pointing arrow directions were not that important to me. I know that the R7 has a few other features that the R3 doesn’t but the R3 will fulfill all of my needs and then some for years to come. At just under $300 I felt the value was there. The product is easy to use, nice looking and comes with two different window mounts.

For a cost effective Radar Detector, this should be option 1. I ended up buying r3 SE so i can get a few more k blocks, and honestly where I am I can probably disable K band completely. It's definitely an investment, but it also definitely pays itself off. Catches KA from far away, is very customizable, and can be as quiet/loud as you need. 10/10

I purchased this to use on a long road trip from SC to FL and back. I drove around 1,000 miles with this detector and it did a great job alerting me to police radar. Definitely saved me a few times. The only negative is the detector will get set off by Honda minivans but there are settings to minimize the false alerts. There are actually a ton of settings. Takes some time to learn them all. This detector is expensive but you get what you pay for.
